Ok, we’re through the looking glass here people.
Short-sighted, silly, selfish, and dangerous.
That’s how President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord is being described – but not by the European leaders who urged Trump to stay in the agreement or the Pacific island nations that are demanding action as rising sea levels threaten their coastlines.
Those are the words of North Korea.
The regime in Pyongyang issued a scorching statement through its official news agency KCNA on Tuesday, blasting Trump’s decision that, it said, comes “at the cost of the entire planet.”
“The selfish act of the U.S. does not only have grave consequences for the international efforts to protect the environment, but poses great danger to other areas as well,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement goes on to criticize Trump’s “America first” foreign policy, and calls the withdrawal, “the height of egoism and moral vacuum seeking only their own well-being … a short-sighted and silly decision ignorant of the fact that the protection of the global environment is in their own interests.”
While the White House has refused to say whether or not Trump believes that climate change is real, Kim Jong Un’s regime makes clear its position.
“Global warming is one of the gravest challenges the humankind is facing today,” it said.

I don’t know what’s more disturbing, the lack of North Korean references to “running dogs”, “supreme leadership”, “cesspool of evils”, and “super-mighty strikes”…
…or the fact that I’m now more likely to see ridiculous language like this in a certain twitter feed than in official statements from North Korea. Except with worse spelling and punctuation abuse as well.

Anyone else have the feeling we left the prime timeline at some point and are now living in an alternate 2017?

Is McCain the Gunga Din of the Senate or what? That man can still carry water in the most perilous of situations.
Anybody here know what the hell McCain was talking about?
Anybody here know what the hell McCain was talking about?
I think he was talking about TrumpEmailPresidentComeyArgleBargleGhaziRussiaClintonFakeNewsOffMyLawn-Gate.
Basically I think McCain perfectly encapsulated the GOP’s latest talking points in their most concise and coherent form. Not that these talking points were always entirely relevant to the testimony, or reality.

I asked FiveThirtyEighters what they thought the main takeaways were, and here are their responses:
Nate: Repeating myself here, but my big takeaways are that 1) Comey is quite directly saying that Trump fired him because of Russia and 2) the Republicans don’t really have any good counterarguments to this and, overall, have legalistic messages that are targeted toward assuaging their Fox News base rather than winning over swing voters.
Perry: Overall, Comey owned the day. His story is now the story. The hearing was basically him reciting his take. The Republicans didn’t poke any real holes in his story. And they didn’t even really try.
Clare: I think what we saw here today was Comey — an excellent witness — coming out hard against Trump. You also saw the Republican lines of defense coalescing, noting that Comey says Trump wasn’t under investigation, questioning why Comey wouldn’t publicly say so (when he’d spoken out about the Clinton emails), and generally saying that Comey overread his conversations with Trump about Flynn.
Julia: This hearing cut against the conventional wisdom that what brings you down is the cover-up, not the crime. That may prove to be true eventually, but Russia interference was a very clear theme, alongside the inappropriateness of Trump’s solo meeting with Comey. One other note, though: Potential obstruction of justice was a much smaller theme relative to its overall importance.
Harry: We did learn some interesting things during the hearing. I thought the fact that Comey said he leaked material after he left office to try to trigger a special prosecutor was quite newsworthy. The other big thing, to me, was Comey’s calling Trump a liar. In terms of the Republicans, I didn’t think they managed to poke holes in Comey’s testimony. Blunt probably came the closest.
Ben: My takeaway is that Republicans are still standing by Trump for now. And I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the “Comey was the leaker” thing used to try to undermine his credibility. (Although all the lavish praise for him as a public servant may make that argument more difficult.)

Speaking of Gunga Din, over in the House it looks like Trey “Lol” Gowdy is now in charge of the House Oversight Committee. It’s an important committee, with several important areas of oversight, including but not limited to:
* I’m actually interested in the outcome of this particular investigation.
What a joke.
Beside all the negativity on Trump… I somehow doubt that Hillary Clinton really would have been a better president, in her own ways…
Maybe even then Trump situation could be something, that may bring some positive effect to the way politicans start to think and see ther damn duty as politicans.
In one way, even if I don’t agree with Trump in more than 99% of his statements, he may be right in one thing: It is time to rethink what politics should be about, and how politicans should see their duty.

Sure, it is easy to doubt my POV, but:
I assume her way of politics would only be the old same way of politics… she really won’t change anything, nor even really try hard.
Trump, at least, is trying, even if he still has to learn that the president does not stand above the law and constitution of the country he is president of.
I think, that with Hillary Clinton another years of nothing new would happen, but after Trump people and politicians (worldwide) should start to rethink the way politics are heading worldwide.
So… maybe… Trumps way of make america grief again can change the world politics… while Hillary Clintons way won’t change anything.

I’d prefer nothing to change to whatever the hell this is.
Meanwhile in the UK… uh, holy crap what is going on over there?
If neither Labour nor the Tories can form a government without including the LibDems or the SNP… what the crap does that mean?!? Would a Labour/Tory government even be in the cards? Would a minority government even be feasible?
I actually have a gut feeling it’s fantastic news, but that’s probably only because I don’t quite have a firm grasp on UK politics or how the system works there.
Ho boy.
http://www.bbc.com/news/election-2017-40209282
The exit poll suggests the Conservatives would be 12 short of an overall majority.
It suggests Labour would gain 34 seats, the Conservatives would lose 17 seats, the Lib Dems would gain six and the SNP lose 22 seats. The Green Party would be unchanged with one seat and Plaid Cymru would still have three MPs, according to the poll.
In total, 30,450 people were interviewed as they exited from 144 polling stations across the UK.
