A five year old could follow the plot of Rogue One. I know they don’t like the film but damn…

I’ll admit my first couple times through I didn’t understand why they had to blow a hole in the shield gate when Bodhi could get a signal to the Rebel Fleet no problem, but there is an explanation. If you have it on Blu-Ray, you can take the time to rewatch a given scene to get a better idea of what’s going on for your commentary.

(The data files are too big to get through the shield, or something, but the smaller communications from Bodhi wasn’t big enough to be blocked. I don’t like that explanation, but it exists.)

Admittedly I was projecting so I apologize if my comment upset you in any way. As it pertains to the chain of events during the Battle of Scariff I found the whole thing with the shield to be unnecessary. The pacing of the battle would have been so much smoother had Jyn and Cassian taken the floppy disk we see in STAR WARS to Leia. The best way to do this of course is to have them travel to Coruscant which would kill two Mynocks with one blaster shot. I don’t even want to know the explanation for why Leia was at that battle.

More like an ATM card than a floppy. 😉

They had to BEAM the transmissions to her ship to line up with ANH.

Yeah…about that. But weren’t the plans beamed to some other Rebel ship then brought aboard the Tantive IV via ATM Floppy disk?

Regardless of what happened the fact that these events are somewhat hazy in my mind means I need to watch Rogue One again. But then again I’d use any excuse to see Rogue One again 😉

James Cameron is a douche

Ouch 😄 ! One of the most important artists of the past decades. Not only an artist, but an engineer and an explorer. The kind of man (along with Lucas by the way, as well as Zemeckis, Spielberg, Jackson and Del Toro) who is a pioneer and a researcher in cinematic ways of telling a story. One of the most talented sci-fi storytellers. So… ok man, “bouh hou hou, Cameron said bad things about Episode 7, he’s a douche, bouh hou hou me sad 😦”… Ok 😄

You can be talented and still be a pretentious asshat. I love Aliens. I like Terminator. Avatar gave me a headache and I don’t care what happens to Blue FernGully.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

Since I’ve had my DVD of Rogue One, I’ve watched it whenever the mood struck. I’ve not made any secret of the fact that it’s my favorite Star Wars film of all (by far) or why. To date, I’ve seen it 13 times. I wanted to watch it this weekend and nearly put it in Friday evening.

I decided instead to go a different route and make it a sort of scheduled event. Instead of finding the time or waiting until I had the time, I decided to schedule the time. So with Summer starting and Star Wars Day last week, I decided to make this my Rogue Summer. I’ll be watching it every Sunday night this summer. That will temper my desire to over do it. This will be a sort of revisit of 1977, which was also the last time I had a deep emotional connection to a Star Wars film.

As the weekend was winding down, I put on my Rogue One socks, got my Death Star ice cube out of the freezer, poured myself a vodka with a splash of cranberry, and settled in for the start of Rogue Summer.

If I haven’t put up anything about the ice cube yet, here’s the link.

Heh, I just bought this crushed ice tray last weekend, which I guess makes a post-Battle of Yavin Death Star.

Love the Death Star ice cube. My mother-in-law gave me two of those molds a couple years ago. I pretty much always have at least one in the freezer at the ready! She also gave me a Han in Carbonite ice cube tray. I’ve been very tempted to try using them to make chocolates (both han and the Death Star) but I haven’t attempted that yet.

That Guardians of the Whills book sounds really intriguing. I’m going to have to get it soon! Baze and Chirrut have quickly risen to be some of my favorite new Star Wars characters. I love the whole “guardians of the whills” and Kyber temple ideas and I’d love to dive deeper into that thread.

Anchorhead, I feel you. As time passes, Rogue One continues to rise in my opinion of it. I can’t say it’s my favorite (SW and ESB are tied for that spot and probably always will be) but I think it may be inching its way past TFA into third place… Tough to say for certain because I really love the characters in TFA and where the story is headed so far…

I can’t (and probably wouldn’t) commit to watching R1 THAT often, but I do find myself repeatedly putting it on and watching 10 or 15 mins of my favorite parts at least a couple times a week… which inevitably leads to me doing the same with ANH and ESB as time permits… I already did one full R1-SW-ESB-ROTJ-TFA marathon spaced out with about one film per week. I was really trying to hold off and do it once more in november before TLJ arrives, but I’m not sure I’m gonna make it. The feeling to cave in is strong!

I haven’t been this enthusiastic about Star Wars in so long, but between the amazing fan restorations that let me watch the OT in all its original glory and two new movies that are actually GOOD I feel much like I did back in the early 90’s “SW renaissance” when I first discovered Star Wars, just as all the new stuff was coming out. It’s really exciting and feels great to be in that place again. Something I never really expected to happen, but I certainly welcome with open arms!

That feeling of caving in to watch it again is exactly why I’ve set up my once-a-week event. Never thinking I’d be in this place again, as you so eloquently put it, is something I totally understand. Truth be told, I’d all but assumed it was impossible. I definitely never expected an adult, dark Star Wars. Your feeling of being back to where you first discovered Star Wars is a perfect description of the phenomenon. In the realm of Star Wars! I’ve never been happier.

James Cameron is a douche who only gets away with it because most of his movies turn out decent. Good luck on people caring about the 5 million Avatar sequels.

James Cameron hasn’t made a classic movie since 1991. But they are some of the best movies ever so it’s hard to complain. He is a douche though hahahah.

Sorry, I know this is a late reply and off topic, but this statement is ridiculous. Titanic, anyone?

Just gave this a fourth watch. Still holds up. Enjoyed every minute.

Was alone this time so I got to pull the couch up to four feet from the TV. (I need a bigger TV, lol) the Blu looks great.
