Now we’re getting to the difference between the originals and the prequels. In one set of films, George’s garbage ideas weren’t present. In the other movies, he ran amok.
Disney, creatively bereft as they are, unable to think up any plots or write their own stories, decided to go back and mine George’s junk ideas and pass them off as official. There you go.

Adding on to this; mesa take issue with your characterization of Kyber crystals as “magic.” Yousa callen them magic, but really theysa “force” crystals. May seem like semantics, but I think you’re aware that there’s a difference. Mesathinks you’re aware that the force is essentially magic, but you present the crystals as magic crystals rather than force crystals to mislead people. So to rephrase what I originally wrote; mesa failen to see how force crystals are “not Star Wars.”

Splinter was the first EU novel in 1978, so it did exist from a certain point of view. Aside from the Brian Daley Han Solo books and the Lando novels, it was all we had for years.

IIRC, Alderaan has an irrational hatred of the EU, too, so that’s not going to sway him any.

It really rubs me the wrong way that someone could think they have a patent on what Star Wars is and should mean to the millions of people who are fans of it. The beauty of it is that it does span so many generations and can - depending on who you talk to - be a sci-fi, or a fantasy, or a western, or crime and gangster flick, samurai or war film, or whatever the hell else.
Some people see fun/quirky kids films, others see philosophical samurai/western films, or a tribute to Flash Gordon, or just a franchise summer blockbuster, war movies, or a generation-spanning space opera/epic. Whatever it is to you, it doesn’t matter. And you can be on and off board with the franchise at whatever points you want, because you like a specific aspect of its universe more than the rest - but don’t try to assert that your perspective is the only one that matters because in your mind it’s “objective”; that you’re the smart fan. It implies you think everyone else are stupid sheep, but there’s no way to justify that with something so diverse. There’s no “right” or “wrong” way to do Star Wars.
It’s not like everyone doesn’t understand what Alderaan is saying. They’ve clearly demonstrated an understanding of his opinion, (having heard it so many times), and all anyone can really do from there is disagree, if they do. We’re discussing on a forum. It really doesn’t matter if someone thinks differently than you do about Star Wars. Especially about Star Wars.

Finally got to watch this in my home theater room, here are somethings I noticed:
- After being slapped by K2SO, you can see Diego Luna slightly smirking while hiding his face
- Vader’s “outfit” on Mustafar looks like a Halloween costume, yet it looks fine in the finale
- The color timing is aimed more at theatrical colors for ANH, while TFA is aimed towards the Blu-ray colors
- Tarkin is so close to looking real, it almost throws the whole illusion off
- Riz Ahmed talks way too fast
- The score is one of the best Star Wars soundtracks ever
All in all, it’s such a great film and rivals The Force Awakens in every aspect. I can’t believe I hated it when it first came out.

When you watch R1 and ANH back to back, it seems like Vader is so pissed off when he boards the Tantive IV because everyone keeps waking him up and making him get out of the tank.

Besides the redness of the plastic here’s something weird about the way the cape is attached. It’s like going too far under his neck instead of just going around with the small chain that holds it there.

It was amazing what they pulled off with CG Tarkin, but I was always focusing on the CGIness whenever Tarkin was on.

Same here for the first couple of times I saw Tarkin up on the screen - as a bit of a fan of the old Hammer Horror era films with Peter Cushing et al, it somewhat pulled me out of the film to look to see how they did it, how real (or not) he looked, how it worked best (dimly lit shots for me - and I think a really good reflection shot) etc.
Took me a few watches to just watch it for what it was - a pretty good attempt at it, and a near spot-on portrayal from Guy Henry.
anyway, came across this earlier - really like the fragments in the lower part of the picture, the overall style, colouring and emotion of the scene:-

I think I’ve said this before, but As a fellow HAMMER fan, I think you might agree;
I couldn’t and don’t believe this being Peter Cushing, but I did and do buy it being the character of Tarkin.
