my friend is going on wed to watch the games. he bought a ticket for the final for over 1500 USD. pretty nuts eh? but he's a die hard soccer fan.
i'll be watching as many games as i can, soccer is my fav sport to play, one of the top to watch. i'll be rooting for Brazil, England, Portugal. in that order.

Wow, $1500. And I'm guessing that's justthe match ticket, not the airfare and accomodation etc. And we won't even know who's in the final for another month...

P.S. Ricardo, that was super smooth man, nice going.

I belive the ONLY place to properly watch a World Cup match would be at a London pub at a friday at 9pm, completely drunk after 8 beers.

hahahaha, i was jsut messing with you. ill probably be pulling for either france or brazil.

the reason i was talking about ireland is cause i always play as them when i play fifa, or winning 11. BTW those are bar-non the best sports game i have ever played i love both of them to death.

i just looked at that link and wow i didnt realise that mexico made it. i recall that canada beat them a little while ago. and with canada being ranked in the 100 - 80 range thats pretty crasy.

but man i really wish canada had a better teen development program. i know the U-12 program across the country is great. i personally played in a league for 7 years. then stopped(i really wish i hadnt cause i was really good at the time and if i kept playing would probably be even better now.) but yeah there is so much focus on hockey at that stage in this country that no one cares about soccer. oh well.

Well, it looks like we'll be playing against Japan on Her Majesty's Birthday (or at least her birthday holiday) - 12th June. They'll be a tough one to beat, but I think we have a fighting chance...

Think England will qualify for the latter stages - but can't see past Brazil to win it. On the day anything can happen though - especially when we get to the knockout stages. Maybe Spain will finally surprise us and do well for a change?

Reckon Paraguay will get the draw vs England come Saturday - still too many unresolved problems in the England line-up - let alone the weak management.

^ Germany vs Costa Rica is on Friday - with a kick off of 5.00pm - all UK times of course

Am not sure if every channel carrying the games will cover the opening ceremony - the BBC start their coverage at 4pm - one hour before the game - but I doubt they'll show much of the actual ceremony.

OK so it should be by noon here... Not sure if it's going to be broadcast here, but if it is, I might watch it live.

I'll watch the ceremony if I can.

Remember when Tina Turner opened the World Cup? I think it was probably USA '94. How shit was that? (the ceremony, not the tournament).

Who was it in 94 who was supposed to kick to a goal prop and rip it in two, and missed that incredibly easy kick, and the effects crew ripped the goal in two anyway? Do you remember that?

Wow it has been 12 years already...

Yeah that was it - Tina Turner kicked the ball, missed, and then the goal ripped in 2 anyway. 12 years ago - crazy.

That's right, it was Diana Ross. She ran over the field, prepared to kick it, and missed. I hate when things go wrong live, I feel bad for the people performing.
