Nobody seems to really know for sure around here. Try theforce.net.

Thanks for that
Lol.
Hi Marcopolo and welcome to the site.
Take a look around the differing sections of the site and you’ll soon find what you may well be seeking, and hopefully more related Star Wars stuff of interest too - all for free (with certain conditions)…
A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…
Welcome to the OriginalTrilogy.com | Introduce yourself in here | Useful info within : About : Help : Site Rules : Fan Project Rules : Announcements
‘How do I do this?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com; some info & answers + FAQs - includes info on how to search for projects and threads on the OT•com
A Project Index for Star Wars Preservations (Harmy’s Despecialized & 4K77/80/83 etc) : A Project Index for Star Wars Fan Edits (adywan & Hal 9000 etc)
… and take your time to look around this site before posting - to get a feel for this place. Don’t just lazily make yet another thread asking for projects.
To be clear, they’re not available to buy unless you’re buying a fan restoration…which you should never, ever do. They’re available for free and people selling them are just profiting on other people’s hard work.
But you have to own the blurays first before you can do that. Since nobody wants to actually read anymore we may as well post all this information in every single thread, but people will won’t see it.
Thanks guys I will certainly read through things now. And good to know the points you have both raised. It will aid my quest to watch the originals without the added cgi
Look for threads that include the name “Harmy”.

Or look for NJVC.
Or 35mm.
The 35 mm presentations are very raw though and to me more useful as resources to touch up than watched on their own. Even dreamasters esb, which has AMAZING image quality minus a few scenes that actually rivals the bluray for sharpness and is quite clear also, still suffers from shakiness and some scenes have flickering colors which make it hard to simply watch, but will be an invaluable resource for projects like harmy.
^ Possessed is definitely right on this.
If you specifically want to see a film print that isn’t completely restored, then you should go for the 35mm preservations. If you want a blu-ray copy then go for Harmy. Each one has advantages and disadvantages though. Harmy’s are much better-looking in most parts although there are some noticeable coverups of the changes due to the need to use sources that simply look different than the blu-ray; the 35mm preservations, while not looking as pristine as Harmy’s versions at their best, are consistent in their look throughout.
The Person in Question
Well empire isn’t because there are parts where the print had (irreparably?) Faded red.
Oh I’d never seen that.
The Person in Question
It’s a shame because the rest in dreamasters version actually rivals the Blu Ray except the image shakes and sometimes the colors flicker.
And there’s a lot of damage at the reel changes.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
You know of all of the special edition changes made to A New Hope they just never thought of coloring in R2-D2’s blue panels during the Battle of Yavin nor did they think about adding in droids in the backs of the Y-Wings. Who else here has noticed that there are no droids in the Y-Wings?
Everybody now thanks for ruining it!

Disney if they buy fox Kathleen Kennedy will have no choice but to release it
Did Lucas scan and digitize the original negatives? i.e. is there a digital scan of the original negatives siting on a hard drive somewhere in Lucasfilm? And what resolution were those scanned at in the early 90’s?
I know those original negatives were pink and trashed in the early 90’s when Lucas scanned them or whatever he did. And so I’m guessing 20+ years later, that those negatives are now pretty trashed and may not even be suitable to do a 4K scan on?
I’m looking forward to those 4K scans or whatever is going on with those original 35mm positive prints that are in private collections where the colors still look very good.
The original negative is conformed to the Special Edition, which was not fully digitized until the DVD master was made. However, Lucasfilm likely stored the pieces of the negative they removed, and they have recently been archiving every single piece of film and audio they have. So in a sense, the original negative has been digitized, but it’s not assembled or restored.

Do you know what resolution the negatives were digitized in? i.e. 1080P?
Really hope Lucasfilm has digitized all their OT recordings in the highest quality available. Things like music and sound effects, etc.
