It may be worth reaching out to 'PREDATOR-ASSASSIN’ over at deviantart (the artist who put them all together) - he may still have the individual larger / HD images:-

https://predator-assassin.deviantart.com/

He also has a few other quality Star Wars pieces on there too…

Good luck with it man - please post up a link to them on here if you find them (and one for Solo too) 😃

Despecialized Editions by Harmy : Index of 'How-To's & Help' Threads | Index of 'General Despecialized Threads' | ‘Where are they? And how do I get them?’ mega-merge thread...

Hi and welcome Gujag,

There are many Star Wars preservation projects - including the theatrical releases of the Original Trilogy - in the Star Wars Preservation section of the site.

The ‘Harmy DeSpecialized Editions’ and also the ‘4K77’ and ‘4K83’ releases (4K80 is being worked on - though may take a year or so to be finished) may be of particular interest to you.

Though please take the time to look around and find which project(s) appeals to you.

Also on site are a fair few intriguing Star Wars fan edits knocking around the site - as well as preservation projects and fan edits unrelated to Star Wars.

Good luck with it mate.

Seems TLJ will end up being the best selling blu ray of 2018 in the US (was released in April):-

The sheer amount of people who have hate for TLJ baffle me sometimes. And the fact that I want to be accepted makes me question my opinion of TLJ.

Also I don’t like people who take Star Wars quotes and change them to try and be relevant. For example, “You refer to the prophecy of the one who will bring balance to the force. You believe it’s this…editor?” - Jeremy Jahns from the trailer for Ivan Ortega’s edit of TLJ. It’s just annoying and I don’t like it, dang it.

To me it seems the people who actually hate TLJ are quite small in number - though are somewhat vocal and repetitive with that hate - across the various media platforms. (a few have seemingly done quite well out of it too).

Obviously there are more that just don’t like the film overall, or certain aspects of it - which is fair enough.

Many fans also seem to enjoy it - though probably aren’t as vocal a year on from it’s release, or looking to monetise / improve or hold onto their ‘fame’ / clicks / subscribers etc on the back of it. The internet at times can have that ability to distort reality…

As for Ivan Ortega’s TLJ Edit, seems many of the scenes he claims to have improved upon have already been done in the 20 or so various TLJ Edits already available on here - all freely available (as long as you own TLJ on blu ray or digital) - and without profiting from having released an Edit or endangering the fan editing community through that avarice.

A shame the fan editor chose to cast aspersions without facts and created & maintained a negative atmosphere surrounding his Edit - plus somewhat neglecting his own responsibilities and failings when the music rights/licence holders learnt he was using their IP in his Edit.

I’m sure the publicity he generated from it helped his film reach a larger audience though…

I’ll be giving his future Edits and content a miss - without facts, balance, awareness or responsibility it’s apparent to me he’ll likely create ‘much ado about nothing’ again in the future for more clicks, publicity or monetisation of his channel. And there’s more than enough of those type of negative and toxic youtubers out there already.

An intriguing fan film trailer that caught the eye…

Shrouded Destiny: A Star Wars Long Tale Teaser Trailer - “An Interesting Question”’:-

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoVhG5RSN1s - a 75 second teaser at the Sarwars Starwars youtube channel.

'The first teaser trailer for the biggest Star Wars fan film in the history of fan films!

The entire team of more than 200 volunteers who worked on this with a budget of roughly $100.000 would like to thank all the fans for their continued support and hope that you’ll help us out by sharing this video on your Social Media accounts with a few words on your thoughts.

“Shrouded Destiny: A Star Wars Long Tale” is an entirely fan made endeavor with more than a few industry professionals designed to be pitched to Disney in the ambitious plan of making the groundwork laid here into a five season series for world wide streaming!

The inspiration for the series is heavily influenced by Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Wire, and The Raid and will be full of complex characters, rich landscapes, stories that twist and turn and dare to take you deeper than you’ve ever gone before, fantastic brutal action, and fates that will tear hearts asunder.

The year 2019 will see the completion of this 45 minutes pilot that we hope to bring to the doorsteps of Disney in the hopes of being hired, so please help this project come alive by liking:’

The future of OT.com - UPDATE: Please donate!

Thanks Jay - for everything these past 15 years mate 😃

And good to know you’ll still be around too on the tech side (if Option 1 is the preferred choice).

Edit: and I hope very much hope you change your mind about not participating in discussions on here in the future.

Well in to Anchorhead and SilverWook for taking this on.

Re option 1… I’d be up for a monthly donation (£10 - $12/13 US) to contribute towards helping cover the costs. The site has given me so much over my time being a member here - so giving some back seems the least I can do.

CRITICAL OPINION: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK‘S ORIGINAL REVIEWS
JANUARY 23, 2014

https://www.starwars.com/news/critical-opinion-the-empire-strikes-back-original-reviews

There’s some really interesting reading here - but I don’t see how this remotely resembles the reaction to TLJ. The critics cited in this article are basically writing off TESB - and Star Wars as an entity - as childish nonsense. That’s just typical movie-critic snobbery. The fans for the most part wouldn’t have given a damn, and the kids buying action figures in droves would’ve been equally oblivious.

On the other hand the critics loved TLJ. It’s the fans that don’t like it, and this is for reasons of tone and canon and story and so forth. It’s not the same thing at all IMO.

yotsuya said:

Wait for IX to come out. Absorb it. Watch the ST in its complete form and see how TLJ fits and then give us a more reasoned opinion. I bet some will change their mind as many of us did about TESB in the years since it came out.

yotsuya seemed to be saying that some people’s opinions may change or evolve on TLJ when the Sequel Trilogy is complete - and viewed in a different context to what it is now - in a Trilogy only two-thirds finished.

He didn’t seem to be comparing the levels of criticism to both Empire and TLJ - just that some people’s opinions may have changed after Jedi was released and time was taken to reevaluate the Original Trilogy as a whole.

Seems reasonable, that.

rodneyfaile just helpfully posted some additional reviews on Empire he found - doesn’t seem either he or yotsuya were comparing the differences between fan reviews and those of ‘professional’ film critics either.

I just think it’s a bit of a ‘Flying Spaghetti Monster’ argument. I’ve seen bad reviews of Citizen Kane. It doesn’t mean I’m going to extrapolate that Transformers Revenge of the Fallen might someday be lauded as genius because Citizen Kane also got some bad reviews. The timing, tone, circumstances etc surrounding TESB are nothing like what has happened with TLJ. I think the comparison is flawed.

I don’t actually care (just like I didn’t care about critics or bad press when I was a kid) but I’d prefer we discussed the movies on their own merits without this ‘TESB was also controversial’ meme. There was no ‘space Leia’ moment in TESB. No-one felt that Luke’s character arc had been betrayed or that general Rieeken was withholding information for no good reason or that Bespin was a waste of time. Let’s stay on point.

Flying Spaghetti Monster argument? Citizen Kane? Extrapolating Revenge Of The Fallen? What…?

In the context of me saying ‘yotsuya seemed to be saying that some people’s opinions may change or evolve on TLJ when the Sequel Trilogy is complete - and viewed in a different context to what it is now - in a Trilogy only two-thirds finished’ the point has been missed by quite some distance. No worries, I’ll leave it there.
