So Yoda suicided?
So Yoda suicided?
It’s no error; those sounds were made much more prominent in the 1993 mix. The default audio track is a reconstruction of the most common 1977 mix heard in theaters.

I would dislike it the way I disliked Alien 3: While the plot technically did not contradict Aliens, it felt like a betrayal of what that film implied and meant.
The redemption of Vader in a ‘melt the heart of tyrants’ way is what I love about ROTJ. If we get Anakin’s ghost in TLJ, I’d hope it would be in a role of wisdom or guidance rather than unresolved tensions.
It was never about whether Vader tipped the moral scales by counterweighing evil deeds with one good deed, but about his own change of heart. He repented, if you will, and that’s what ROTJ cares about, not a moral equation.
I would loathe a conflicted postmortem Anakin. It would totally betray ROTJ, in a sharp and specific way, as opposed to the general way in which TFA’s plot did.
I suppose TFA would be yellow-orange, TLJ red, and Ep9 remaining to be seen.
Well those shots look great. Has there been any shot you’ve tried so far, where things go really wrong?
Not really…they’re all clear improvements over the bluray, even if some might require a little tweaking. These were created with just eight of Neverar’s regrade examples. The great thing is, that depending on your tastes you can create a HarmyBot, kk650-Bot, DreamasterBot, SwazzyBot, or perhaps even a Towne32Bot 😉. Alternatively, you could take some Technicolor print scans, or another official color grading, and train the algorithm to reproduce those colors.
I eagerly await the day we can create a GOUTbot.
Could this be attempted, for kicks? Might be fun to see how it’d look.
And, Kexiklus, please don’t post any comparison pics of AOTC; it’ll only tempt me to revisit it! 😛
Nice work! The stars in the middle of the screen seem to flicker just before “THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK” comes into view, but that’s the only flaw I noticed.
Tatooine just causes people to age horribly.
Seems like a community resource thing. I’d say go for it!
I’ve made an alternate version of this that also includes Hal9000’s revised ending from his Labyrinth of Evil edit in which Padme survives, plugging an infamous plot hole.
Ha, it’s the inverse of what people usually ask me for: ‘Labyrinth Of Evil’ but with the original ‘Padme dies’ ending. 😃
I’d prefer to go about this by merely removing the “Episode [X]” portion of the actual films’ crawls, without generating new material. As authentic as you can get with minimal meddling. (Might be good to time the appearance of [FILM TITLE] to the appearance of ‘Episode [X]’ and re-sync footage between the crawl fading out and beginning to pan downward.
Maybe Disney put out some death threats.
Can I do both?
Well said, NeverarGreat. I’m very much looking forward to episode 8, but I feel like the past several years for me were a second wind in a marathon.
Y’know, over analyzing and all the things we’ve covered at length many times here.
Random thought.
I’m kinda getting sick of all this Star Wars shit.
Well, great, now we’ll have to wait another four months.
Here’s a candidate for that scene:

Password: bull craft
Could you pass along just the modified, “All craft,” audio clip?
Sheesh. I’ve had a sense of distaste at the idea of a young Han Solo film from the beginning, and I’m glad these standalone can be ignored easily. Star Wars is special, and I hope it doesn’t spiral downward into Marvel… I guess the best word would be oversaturation, that sense of having so much content that none of it feels special anymore.
Even as a kid, I had a strong preference for the original version of ROTJ.
My Star Wars is a pan-n-scan 1997 Special Edition (of ANH and ESB) and original (of ROTJ) VHS rented from Blockbuster.
During the intro to the special edition VHS, the Darth Vader statue behind Lucas had a bent lightsaber.
But I do miss the announcer inviting me to sit back and enjoy the ___ installment of the Star Wars Trilogy: Special Edition.
Hayden Christensen in the library at the beginning of Ghostbusters?
If it can be, but it remains to be seen.
For years I’ve wondered in the back of my mind what it would look like to take every possible color correction attempt that got very far, average them out, and apply to the BluRays. In my head, all of them have equal weight, and for yucks the GOUT, 97SE, technicolor scans, and the BluRays themselves all get a vote, too.
Incredible stuff you’ve achieved, Dr. We march ever closer to our sought-after ultimate restoration.
Yes, the two biggest missing scenes are Leia trying to warn the Republic during their assault, and the First Order preparing to rearm and target the Resistance base afterward.
