TFA: A Gentle Restructure (Released)

Well, even though the title isn’t going to be changed, if I were to do the other four saga films so far with EU-lifted titles, we’d have:

Rebel Dawn
Shadows of the Empire
Heir to the Jedi
The Force Unleashed

But, I think ‘The Force Awakens: Starkiller Edition’ works well for what this is. I don’t consider it an extension of the Hal9000 prequel edits, just manifesting an elegant idea from multiple places on the internet after the movie came out.

It’s not a Hobbit edit, though I would have loved to see Kerr tackle it. (A 3-in-1, I mean.) I’m very happy with the Maple Films version, as things stand.
Kerr will unveil things as he sees fit, but it’s a LOTR project, not recreating something from the past but completing the project, though both of us have evolved our views substantially in the past decade. MY role has been merely one of consultation, and my actual ‘editing’ work has been mostly tweaking it so as to simultaneously publish a companion set.

Enough said about this for the time being. I am screening it for friends in my home, so unless you live in Kansas City you’ll find out in due time. Meanwhile the momentum increases toward The Last Jedi, with V2 of TFA:R hopefully being finished ahead of it.

We could pipe in audio from Neil deGrasse Tyson over the First Order’s or Resistance’s intercoms explaining that one star has the power to destroy ten thousand planets.
But yes, the idea is that, apparently, one star does not equal one firing. And as far as this edit goes, there’s nothing to say that it wasn’t built for a single-use against Capital Planet.

I join the rest of us in mourning the loss of the PT:R, as nothing seemed beyond your reach to us. I can’t fathom throwing myself into this sort of thing as you have, and I wish you contentment and joy with your OT:R final products once you reach that happy day. At least now it’s in your sights, and you’ve cut your work out for yourself.
