Is this just a new sticker they’ll be putting in the bottom corner of EA games?

I believe so but I’m not sure. Details are very scarce at the moment.

I don’t play games much, but I’ll be sure to get this when it comes out. I know loads of people have been begging for an open world bounty hunter game or something like that for years. And it’s great that EA’s exclusivity has ended and more companies can come on board now.

The way I see it, Lucasfilm Games has been created as way to circumvent the exclusivity deal with EA, because it seems like Disney has realized it was a mistake with EA releasing a grand total of three games, of which only one (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order) is truly good.

It also reinforces what I’ve been saying for years, that closing LucasArts was a mistake.

Sure wish they’d hurry up and release that Lego Skywalker Saga game.

Also a strategy game, that’s very interesting. I’ve never played many strategy games before but Dune: Spice Wars (which I think is coming this year) may get me into them. I’ll check this star wars one out.

I don’t know if the Jedi: Fallen Order sequel was confirmed before, but it definitely is now.

Long are those times when they made SIX new SW games in a single year. 😦 Of course the quality varied but at least there was something new to play.

Amy Hennig’s Skydance New Media Is Working On A New Star Wars Game

I always get a little excited when there is news of a new Star Wars game. But as it can take years to make a modern game I just hope we actually see it released, and it is not cancelled, like Amy Hennig’s previous Star Wars game was.

1990’s gaming was a brilliant time, even when there was something we didn’t like there was always another game to look forward to. And also for Star Wars games.

The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

Bring back the time when games were announced and released later the same year. And not later in the decade.
I’m joking but, maybe only half joking.

I think I’m too long in the tooth for games these days. Even the new Lego Star Wars didn’t do much for me, although looks a lot of fun, well designed, and people love it, I was playing the old Lego Original Trilogy game from 15 years ago an hour or two later.

It is good to see that Amy Hennig gets another chance at doing a Star Wars game after what happened last time.

Yes. This 100%. And more fun in the game playing as well.

“The other Sequels were the result of an over-anxious press. The original intention was to make three [films], and that was really the end of it. It was not until 10 years after the first [film] that I thought of doing a back story.” - George Lucas, speaking at the Premiere of ROTS in 2005

The open world Star Wars game just had a trailer released - www.starwarsoutlaws.com:

Star Wars Outlaws - trailer at the official SW YouTube channel. Or https://twitter.com/starwars/status/1667942084001792002

I am surprised and impressed this is set in the Original Trilogy era, and that it is meant to be a truly open world game!

The Kyle Katarn template is getting yet another run out. In this game he is called “Jaylen”.

The gameplay trailer is out on Mnnday: www.polygon.com/23755742/star-wars-outlaws-game-massive-ubisoft-xbox-showcase

Edit - Sideburns of BoShek made an great thread for the Star Wars: Outlaws game, here:

Respawn Star Wars FPS Is Single-Player & Inspired by Dark Forces Games - in The Escapist, March 2023.

‘The single-player Star Wars first-person shooter in development at Respawn Entertainment will be inspired by FPS games like Star Wars: Dark Forces and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, according to a recent LinkedIn job post. The post, which seeks to recruit a lead technical artist for the project, also provides more hints about the AAA story-driven title, including that it will utilize Unreal Engine 5. You can read the full description of the currently untitled project below:’

In collaboration with Lucasfilm, the Star Wars FPS Team is developing a new AAA FPS in the Star Wars galaxy. Inspired by classic titles like Dark Forces and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, our story-driven single player game is being developed from the ground up leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5. We’re combining this inspiration and technology with Respawn’s pedigree for making best-in-class shooters to deliver a brand new experience our players will love.

Respawn has played coy about sharing more information about its Star Wars FPS, but that shouldn’t be a cause for concern. The developer has spent the last decade making a name for itself as one of the best FPS developers in the industry with the Titanfall series and its battle royale spinoff, Apex Legends. The unnamed Star Wars FPS, which is being led by Peter Hirschmann, seems to at least tap into the roots of Star Wars FPS gaming, so players are probably safe to stay calm until we learn more.’

There hasn’t been much news on this FPS game at all, likely down to Jedi Survivor release. I’m hoping this game kicks into gear and we’ll be hearing more about it soon. Count me in for a classic style Star Wars FPS any day! It appears they’re hiring senior developers and designers for the game, which is good news:

I really hope this happens. No cancellations. No stuck in development hell, A good solid FPS Star Wars game.

“Don’t tell anyone… but when ‘Star Wars’ first came out, I didn’t know where it was going either. The trick is to pretend you’ve planned the whole thing out in advance. Throw in some father issues and references to other stories - let’s call them homages - and you’ve got a series.” - George Lucas

Among my favorite Lucasfilm games are:

Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Spent hours exploring Nar Shadaa.

Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
The best lightsaber combat multiplayer game for a long time. I loved you could use staffsabers and Jar Kai (duo sabers).

Star Wars Battlefront II (2005)
One of best campaign star wars games. Playing as the 501st as clones and later as Stormtroopers. I loved Tameura Morris narrated it. The multiplayer was a bladt, especialy Jedi vs Sith, I always was Sith to be Anakin/Vader Mustafar and Force Choke enemies and then saber em.

Star Wars Republic Commando
One of few true FPS Star Wars Games. It was Halo clone of sorts, but it worked.

Star Wars Episode I: Pod Racer (N64)
“Now this is Pod Racing!” One of few times they yook niche aspect of AGFFA and it made a great game. It was the best racer after Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menance (PC)
Extremly hard game, with bugs that could freeze the game. Still it was fun.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (Xbox)
The campaign let you play as Anakin or Obi-Wan, with alternate endings. It was neat to have so many clips and scenes from ROTS while it was in theaters. The Multiplayer was fighter game like a Soul Calibur or a sequel to Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi.

Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi (PSOne)
A Tekken Star Wars fighter game. It was great fun, I especially was thrilled to play as Mara Jade.

Star Wars Clone Wars
The Arena multiplayer was fun and it was neat to see Anakin meet Ulic Qel Droma!!!
