VFX help/advice needed: Removing Luke's reed in TLJ

Hi all, just seeking a bit of advice on some VFX shots I’m hoping to tackle. In my edit of the sequel trilogy, I’ve removed Luke’s practical joke as it doesn’t mesh with the pacing of the overall edit. This does however leave a rather glaring continuity error in the form of his grass reed.

For the more technically-minded, what’s the over/under on how difficult it would be to mask out the flapping reed from both of these shots of Luke:

In subsequent shots, the grass can be easily cropped out and edited around, but these are the only two where it’s especially obvious. Both shots seem fairly stationary with minimal change in the background so my hope is it won’t be too difficult? With the possible exception of when his hand crosses back across his body in the second shot. Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

I removed that joke from my edit too - I just left in the shot where he throws it away after the joke. So it goes: Luke approaches rock -> Rey sits and they speak -> Luke throws reed away -> Luke puts Rey’s hand on the rock.
