^ Ditto for what Dark_Jedi said - a six disc boxset cover would go down very well with these intriguing Edits.

Top job ADM

Esp like the credits on ANH...

HL, I understand how you feel about wanting even more of the score to come through on the pod race. It was a tough balance to work, as the source volume was so slammed to the max without the score, that pushing the score too much would have overdriven the signal or buried the lines. As a result, the music is a little too subtle at times.

Still, I'm glad to hear it had the desired effect ... if it makes you enjoy the Pod Race sequence, then it succeeded. I find that the race doesn't feel so long-in-the-tooth with the added score -- and this is the extended version of the race to boot. Hyperspace was such a tense piece of music, and it makes the race seem that much more dangerous. Anakin comes across cooler and more in control just by the addition of this piece of music. Makes you believe a 9-year-old kid could do all this.

Of course, MF used the Battle of Yavin to great success near the end, which inspired me in the first place. I gotta give credit where credit is due.

I'm sure the original music-less version was another example of Ben Burtt overriding John Williams. It worked in the asteroid sequence of Ep II but not in the pod race sequence. You can tell that the original version was Lucas and Burtt geeking out on sound editing, thinking nothing of emotion and flow.

Yeah, it's basically the very start of the race and the last lap are very well done with the score. Was there no score in the original? What track did you use for most of the other, because it seems to repeat itself alot. I mean, not horribly, but after 5 viewings of that scene you notice.

Thanks so much for these. They are an excellent alternative to the GL versions. I made a cover for the Ep I edit, Vergence in the Force, if anybody needs one. It's one of my firsts, so any suggestions or criticism will not be ignored or found offensive. I promise not to cry too much. Thanks again for these edits!

"Hyperspace" from TESB is the cue that is primarily used. It is edited down to remove Leia's theme and some irrelevant parts. The idea was to be repetitive and mechanical, much like the visuals you're seeing.

Eliasboy, thanks for posting the first disc art!!!

My pleasure. It's not the greatest thing to grace these forums, but it'll cover a disc. And the thanks goes to you for the films!

Here is one I'm working on for ROTJ. I'm not sure on the placement of the seperate elements like the Death Star and the logos, but you get the basic idea.

I have received my 5 dvdr discs of ADigitalMan Edit goodness this weekend (many thanks Metallaxis) - as part of ADM's cool pay-it-forward system of distribution I'll be forwarding a set of these discs to the first three people in Europe who ask me for them - so they can make a copy and pay-it-forward in turn...

I'm almost afraid to ask if you're planning a version 2 of Vergence so you can make improvements people have suggested?

Nah, the film works for me now, and hopefully paves the way for other inspired editors to work it further or create their own edit.

ADM's version of TPM will be the version I watch from now on. The only complaints I have are as follows:
19 minutes into the film, there is an audio drop
When Jar Jar wakes up, you can see him talking, but he says nothing
there is some sort of jump at 29:34
the subtitle size is VERY large. Even if you could just release a corrected file to put on the DVD when burning, that would fix that problem.
at 47:27, for the transition, the picture goes black. Is this an intended effect?

Those are all just technical things with the DVD, that's all.

Creatively, the only things I would have said was to change Jabba's spit noise and there was somewhere that I thought the Binary Sunset theme would have worked wonderfully, but can't remember where.

Anyways, I love this DVD and it is now (for me) the definitive version of TPM. I hope there is an updated version when the new DVDs come out.

Is there anyone in the UK (or thereabouts) who can send me these edits in exchange for blank discs and postage etc.? (I'd prefer to pay it forward, but until I get a working writer that's not an option for me!). I think I'm PM-able at the moment.

Cheers

Crap! That dropout at 19:37 is totally bad quality control on my part. I'm not even sure how I missed it, as the sync points are present on both sides.

Ugh. My apologies to all. I really checked these sync points ... no idea how that foul-up happened in the end.

As for 29:34, I'm not getting that problem.

As far as I'm concerned, the less Jar-Jar says, the better.

I'll take a minor audio drop over fart jokes any day.

Still anxiously (and patiently) awaiting my copy of your opus, ADigitalMan. That's what you get when you're on the bottom of the pyramid.

Just rewatched it to figure out what I had written down in my notes. I don't know if you removed a Jar Jar gag in there or what, but if you watch the Dewback's leg, or Qui Gon and Padme walking for that matter, you will see that there are like 3 frames missing and the suddenly scoot forward.

Is this before they turn to watto's shop, or is this where they are entering town? This is right where the "poop slip" joke was. A pretty long shot was removed right around here, but I'm wondering if you're seeing something mid-shot or something where there is a difference from one shot to the next.

It's right after Padme says "Like us" The camera comes around to the 'face on' angle and they take 2 steps, it jumps and then continues on.

Oh, it's not as bad as you think. The full collection will be in your hands much faster than the torrents can get out.

No doubt. Torrents are good and great, but five DVDs would kill most anyone's ratio
