Ady whats the quality like on the lost 20 scene for the prequels is it good enough to re-insert into Episode 2? There any other decent deleted scenes which could be put back in that weren't already known? I suppose the other question is the bridge control ship attack salvageable, or would it be too much work to restore? - Really don't know why they didnt have that in, considering some of the crap Lucas put us through in the PT - "SAND".

Is this the version where a (soon old enough) Ewan McGregor has been superimposed over all the scenes in which Sir Alec Guinness appeared in the Original Trilogy?

Or do we have to wait a few more years and watch even more differing versions of the films before Lucas can realise his 'true vision' for his films?

(half jokingly - I wouldn't put it past him...)

Not very good at all. In fact i can't see how any of the prequels deleted scenes could be used in an edit without a very noticable drop in quality. here is the lost 20 scene, although they never talk about anything apart from a brief bit about Dooku. In motion this scene looks 100 times worse

the battle of geonosis looks absolutely terrible, everything looks fake. the actors look so far removed from their digital surroundings that it just yanks you right out of the movie. Space Jam looks better!

The prequels have always looked that bad =) I thought the same thing when I saw 2 and 3 on the big screen (and even when I saw 1 on the little screen).

On a side note, Darth Maul as Grievous would've been hardcore.

What is this, someone tried to insert actual human emotion into the Battle of Endor? I can see why it was cut!

But seriously, THIS is the kind of crap I love, that not all Imperials are mass murdering psychopaths.

*sigh* Thanks for the quick reply, considering Vader's fall later, you'd of thought this scene would of made sense to have, in terms of discussing Jedi who had left the order... Yeah that doesn't look great at all, I'm thinking at this point I may just get the Phantom Menace blue ray, and forget the rest! (CGI Yoda has to be better than that puppet in TPM).

So, someone at MF.com posted a frame of the Fett cartoon from the Holiday Special. Anyone find it?

Hi everybody! I'm new to the forums and I thought this would be as good a thread in which to make my first post as anywhere else. As a long time SW fan (I was taken to see Star Wars in 1977 by my mum, I was 9 at the time), I have become increasingly perturbed at the way the original films have been gradually turned into cartoons by GL and his legion of jobsworths and after reviewing the latest batch of pointless and insulting 'revisions' to the OT, I have decided to not purchase the Blu-Ray set. I have just calculated the many 'editions' of the OT I have accumulated over the years and it runs something like this :

Star Wars/The Empire Strikes Back/Return Of The Jedi :

Originally taped on VHS from TV.

Ex-rental full-screen VHS purchased.

Widescreen VHS purchased.

Special Edition VHS Box Set Purchased.

Special Edition DVD Set Purchased. (subsequently left to my son after separation from ex-wife)

Star Wars Original Trilogy DVD Set purchased (the one with the LD port 'original' versions)

Now, that's a lot of purchasing...Not to mention buying the (imo) utterly rubbish prequels on DVD twice!!

I have only recently become aware of the whole 'fan edit'/preservation subculture and as a result have become rather fascinated with the whole thing. It's incredible to me to see the dedication, talent and ingenuity that people have displayed in creating their own 'true' versions of these classics. If only Lucasfilm cared as much about these beloved films as you do.

Anyway, thanks for listening. A bit 'heard it all before' but I just felt I should introduce myself. Look forward to getting to know you guys.

The screencaps of the Emperor's guards brandishing their pikes at Vader - what scene is that from?!? It looks REALLY interesting!! Awesome to see the guards with their force pikes ready to strike. And it's nice to see that Koo Stark's scenes are featured (since I'm somewhat of a fanboy of hers).

As for the Darth Maul as Grievous thing...although I think it doesn't matter because the prequels aren't canon anyways, it would have added much-needed dramatic and emotional depth to Grievous' character (because otherwise he just comes out of nowhere), ESPECIALLY for Obi-Wan. Not to mention Grievous is supposed to be a "precursor" of sorts to Vader's cybernetics...and Palpatine bringing back both of his apprentices with cybernetics would be an interesting recurring theme. I remember some comic somewhere that showed a cybernetic Maul, and he had legs similar to Grievous...maybe his design was based on early concept drawings for Grievous/Resurrected Maul?

Young Anakin and Obi-Wan

Sebastian Shaw as Anakin Skywalker, Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi

If you want the OT deleted scenes, PM me and I'll send them to you! DON'T BUY THE BLU-RAY DISCS!!!

It was interesting to see those various deleted scenes/out-takes shots you posted on the previous page adywan.

It's so frustrating that at least some of these didn't have the same level of attention quality-wise that was given to the Prequel DVD deleted scenes.  And maddening that those previously 'finished' dvd ones aren't even included on this release, of course!

It's bad enough that various sources have been able to bang on about how neat it is that the likes of the white lightsabre 'core's' are restored again in certain shots - BIG DEAL, considering Vader's one has actually taken on a noticeably PURPLE 'glow' now in several shots, while *still* remaining PINK in many others...without them generalizing about how great these deleted scenes are too.

Yeah, some of the scenes themselves may be great, but the lacklustre picture-quality of them is yet another indication of how poor this long-awaited boxset really is overall, compared to how it could have been.

I guess I'll go and console myself with having a little fun on Blu-ray.com in the next few days discussing why their ridiculous five-star rating is wrong on so many levels for this release...

Really they should never have killed Maul in the first place and had him in the General's role.

If they hadn't killed Maul, we wouldn't get Christopher Lee as a Sith Lord.

As much as I love Lee, his character really didn't get to do much, and got shafted in III. he could've easily done the same things in II as a simple rogue Jedi. You could've even merely had Maul skip an episode or support Dooku.

it would have added much-needed dramatic and emotional depth to Grievous' character (because otherwise he just comes out of nowhere), ESPECIALLY for Obi-Wan.

Precisely why I like it.

Made for IE Forum's Episode III theme month - May 2005.

I remember before SITH came out I saw the General Grevious action figure and thought the eyes looked like Maul's eyes. Perhaps this was the original intention but was tossed out. Would have been cool, but also would have been redundant. Obi-Wan kills Maul. Maul comes back as half man/machine. Obi-wan kills Anakin, dito.

Something VERY interesting posted on The Digital Bits.  It's not about Star Wars, but I'd say it relates:

Spielberg also confirmed again that E.T. is coming to Blu-ray from Universal in 2012, but likely only the original theatrical cut. He asked the audience if they'd care if the "new" version wasn't on the Blu-ray, which generated a big "NO!" Spielberg acknowledged this and said he regrets making the changes he did for the DVD.

True. I was shocked for the way he was shafted so quickly in RotS.
