"This was all requested months ago, but still isn't here."

I know the feeling. There's so much stuff I can't wait to get my hands on as well. Sucks when the waiting takes longer than the actual project.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

This is a really neat documentary...so far. A lot of this material I have never seen before, while some I have. But then again, the "edit" represents, more or less, the "Star Wars" that might have been.

Use of the original 1977 mono soundtrack is very effective here, since I have not seen the version with that soundtrack in 25 years.

I would like to see the Death Star scenes with the mono soundtrack in this documentary.

Oh, and please, do get this documentary finished in time for Episode III.

I have all of your videos from your site. Everytime I watch them I think in anticipation toward your unique and inspired project to create what is essentially a 'director's cut' of Star Wars. I can't wait to see the finished project!

I'll keep my eyes peeled for anthing to add to it.

May the force be with you.

Wipe them out...all of them.

I think ocpmovie should be aware of something while putting together the final version of the documentary...

1. Key scenes with alternate audio from the original mono version of ANH should be included. Some of these scenes already have in the clips we've seen so far. The scene where Aunt Beru shouts "Luke, Luke!" after Luke sees the unfinished holographic message from R2 isn't there thus far.
2. In "The Empire Strikes Back", pay attention to 3PO during the carbon-freezing sequence. Remember his line "I'm not ready to die..."? Watch 3PO's movements and you'll be able to tell he was supposed to say something more. The "Story Of The Empire Strikes Back" LP has his additional dialogue ("I'm not ready to die in the back of a demented Wookie!" --referring to, of course, Chewbacca putting the droid's head on backwards). Does anyone out there have a good transfer of this rare LP?

That's all I can think of right now. If anyone else can think of more, this is the thread to do it.

Thanks Hiphats ... thanks for your IM as well.

I actually forgot Beru has a line in that scene when doing the first cut. =)

I'll remember when putting together the DVD edit.

The "Blast it, Wedge" line will also be included.

I DO now have a nice DVD of the VH1 special "When Star Wars Ruled The World" ... at last.

Also, major editing on my feature film Gods of Los Angeles is complete.

AND, I'm buying a DVD burner this week.

So, I can probably get back to work on Deleted Magic when I have some free time.

I'll be working on a test DVD of the cut so far, as well.

More to report when I have something to report.

I'd like to post an official call for help here. Are there any tech-savvy PC folk out there who can do nice full-quality, fullscreen captures (using a screen capture program) of the Declan Mulholland as Jabba the Hutt clips seen on the Making Magic CD-ROM, and the Alternate Cantina and Luke/Treadwell scenes seen on the Behind the Magic CD-ROM?

You would have my eternal gratitude.

Well, now that I have a second computer next to my first, I should give that a try.

In the mov file Deleted Magic Part 1 ( at http://www.starwarz.com/deletedmagic/ ) there is some behind the scenes footage of the attack on the Rebel Blockade Runner at the start of Episode IV I have never seen before. This out-take footage starts with the THX logo watermark and then cuts after a few seconds to the finished shots. Also you can here off camera direction overdubbed onto the finished film in some parts. My question is where did this Behind The Scenes footage with the THX logo come from, and what about that off camera production soundtrack?

Thanks

GK

That is from a THX demonstration short called "Soundtrack!" which can be found on the THX WOW! laserdisc.

Thanks for the info RowMan.

Is that the only Star Wars related item on the “THX WOW!” disk that is not available anyplace else?

That "Soundtrack" short from "THX WOW!" would make an excelent torrent. Being that it is out-of-print, was never a sale item, and that it is a demo. I wonder if anyone out there has it?

Yes. WOW! and Soundtrack! are the only things on the THX laserdisc demo. I actually put them on the Empire Strikes Back bonus disc that I created for the TR47/ RowMan Re-mix. I'm currently creating similiar (but not the same) bonus discs for the new EditDroid trilogy. WOW! and Soundtrack! will be featured on my new bonus disc for Return of the Jedi as they are more from that era.

I love WOW! (I have the LD and DVD versions), but I've never seen Soundtrack!

Just saw the trailer for Deleted Magic.
OMG, that's amazing.

Can't wait for the full finished project. Are you still estimating a release in early '05?

Just saw all the parts up on the site. Wow, bloody amazing. It's like a whole new Star Wars movie (but good).

Great editing, love the whole 'pop-up' video feel. Might want to leave the titles up more for the longer descriptions.

Besides that: wow. George Lucas should have done this for the DVD, not more stupid digital changes.

Hi folks!

I've had to spend a lot of time working on my own films, as you know ... I've just put out a short films dvd at orangecow.org.

But it does mean I can now burn DVDs from home, which I couldn't before ...

I still don't have much free time to spend finishing Deleted Magic the way I'd like to, but I could certainly put a revised and improved version of the first 13 parts of it out on DVD for now ...

Or maybe I'll go crazy and finish it ...

On the DVD (title: THX ULTIMATE DEMO DISC) "WoW!" is track #9 and "Soundtrack" is track #10.

I just got myself an original.

Can't wait to get hold of a copy.

Imagie what MagnoliaFan could do with some of these scenes for his OT MagFan version...

I should have been more specific, I have a DVD with all the THX, Dolby Digitial, DTS and SDDS trailers. The only thing it does not have is Soundtrack! Maybe you and I should trade copies?
