It's done!

Done done done.

Printed onto the disc is the circus style artwork, poster D.

The final version is version 6.

Two shots proved the bane of my existence and had to be re-rendered over and over, causing an extra two days of work as I realized that THIS version wasn't right either ... These shots were "Yes, I'll bet you have" and "This place can be a little rough" ... In version 6, I believe I've got these ones right. The laserdisc footage is no longer obvious on the latter, and on the former, you can still see that the laserdisc is transitioning to the DVD version, but it looks natural and smooth and the quality doesn't change.

The commentary track has also been fixed a bit to remove a silence at the Lars dinner table.

The chapter menu for the final 5 chapters of the film seems to be screwed up, but through 6 versions of this disc I wasn't able to fix it. One menu always screwed up somehow.

Oh well. Apart from that ...

It's the perfect dvd of the original Star Wars, the only copy you need. And you do need it. So share and enjoy.

I knew a drug dealer that use to say that.

But I suppose you are right. Now I will pretend in my head that you'll be doing ESB and RotJ or I will go nuts.

I've ordered it! I'm just wringing my hands to see this. It's really amazing all the hard work you've put into this, and I can't even begin to thank you for bringing this to us.

And you do need it.

I'm in utter agreement.

Greetings all! Been lurking for a few weeks after finding this great BBS. Great to see that I'm not alone in love of all things OOT! Ocpmovie, THIS is the film I've been hoping for. It sounds prefect!! I've been thinking about getting Deleted Magic and this announcement has made that affirmative

What else can be said? I got this in the mail yesterday and it is FANTASTIC! Seriously! Garrett has done a tremendous job here! It really is like seeing a pristine copy of what was on the screen in 77. The coolest feature is the isolated John Williams score track. To me, that's the best thing on here and I didn't even know about it til I popped it in! It is very cool watching the movie that way. I would have loved for this to be the one that Lucas put out but oh well. We've all purchased the official video tapes, the Laserdiscs, the DVD's, the soundtracks and multiple times at that. This might just be the coolest one yet!

How does one get a copy of this? Is there a torrent file?

*Starts chanting* Torr-ent! Torr-ent! Torr-ent!

To anyone who has seen it, what does the end battle look like? Is the whole sequence LD footage, or just parts that were changed?

This sounds like the ANH De-SE to end all ANH De-SEs....

In my mind, none of Lucasfilm's "official" DVD release of the 6 films will do for my "final" versions. I plan eventually on cannabilizing a bunch of different phantom edits and my official copy to make my ideal TPM. Same with AOTC.
As for the OT, I'm waiting for a good De-SE that I can mess with just a little bit to get exactly how I like it. But this edit might just be final! lol

My stance on revising fan edits.

I've been very happy about everything Garrett has done so I would never try to nitpick especially considering there is no chance in hell that I could do it myself. However, that being said and in response to your question, the finale is fantastic and very seemless. There might be a holdover special effect from the Special Editions. I'm not completely sure though. I know there are a couple in other places in the movie but you have to know what your looking for as it is so small. This release though is very very good, and like I said before, the isolated score makes it worth it alone to me.

I'd be really interested to see some screenshots of the painted out Rontos, etc - i.e. the more technical fixes you've done.

Better to see them in motion, I suspect.

The end battle uses LD footage for the parts that were changed. As these are all simple space FX shots the LD shots look perfectly natural.

There's a lot of copies of this disc out there now, so enjoy them folks!

I have to go babysit for my neighbors right now, but I will write a nice long review once I get back!

Can't wait to see this, if the workmanship is of the same caliber as the work you did on Deleted Magic then we're all in for a real treat.

Big fan of Deleted Magic here and very eager to see what you've accomplished with this project.

Best course of action to contact someone for copies or can we expect a torrent forthcoming ?

Let me reiterate the other poster's chant... "Torrent ! Torrent !"

I wasn't sure if you'd be doing this since it's partially sourced from the 04 dvds, but please do let us know if waiting for a torrent would be a proper course to take.

I don't torrent my own movies - I'm on a slow connection.

Feel free to put a torrent up yourselves ... but don't count on one. As with Return of the Ewok and Special Edition Hype, the fastest way to get the film is to get it from me.

All the best.
