Sounds about right.

SUPERMAN: "Take that, Bryan Singer!"
DARKSEID: "Ow! Wait - Bryan Singer? Who is this 'Bryan Singer' you speak of?"
SUPERMAN: "Oh sorry dude, I was thinking of someone else.

WONDER WOMAN: "We know you hate what he did to your new movie, but calm down!"
SUPERMAN: "Bryan... Singer... must... die!"
MARTIAN MANHUNTER: "No my friend! You do not want his death on your hands! And besides, at least you've got a new movie ya ungrateful bastard!"

Not a fan of SR, huh?

After just recently watching the Christopher Reeve Superman movies 6 days ago (watch one each night finished on sunday night), I have to say that I think IV was the worst of the series. I thought that III was alright, I liked how the actressed that played Lana later went onto play in Smallville as Martha Kent. But Superman IV was just horrible. When Nuclear Man (or whatever his name is) kidnapped Lacie (the chick that liked Clark) and took her into space and she was able to breathe and shit...that was just horrible.

That's my two cents on those films. Superman III was "watchable" and not that bad, but Superman IV was just bad. Oh yeah, just remembered, it also seemed like there was a scene or two that just went into the next scene without any transitions. It was like..."How the hell did they get there?" type of thing.

I was thinking how on earth have I managed to sit through this movie to the very end? (this coming from someone who also stayed to the end of Sccoby Doo - The Movie, yet did walk out of Sccoby Doo - The Movie 2

The plot's biggest problem is that it seemed out of character even for Lex Luthor, and that it didn't allow for a super-brawl anywhere.

The plot's biggest problem is the script. The script's biggest problem is the plot. The actor's biggest problems were having to follow the script.

Exactly.

I'd rather wait another 20 years for a real Superman film that really restarts & relaunches the franchise - and features the real suit - than get another half-assed sequel from Singer and his henchmen.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

I mean I understand having a certain dissatisfaction with aspects of the movie... it just seems like you're extremely harsh on it. I agree that tying it to the old films hurt it, but I think it was still a good movie. If I were doing the film... well, lets see...

-Get rid of the direct Donner refferences. No crystals, no Marlin Brando cameo, and create original opening credits/music.
-Lois should have been played by someone older. So should Clark.
-Lex Luthor should NEVER be played as a goof ball. No yodelling "kryptonite". Play him like Clancy Brown does.
-Luthor's motivations, as I understand it, are to save the world from the 'threat' of Superman, and he believes only he can do it. Killing off the entire Western Hemisphere was over the top.
-Metropolis is NOT in New York. Last time DC specified a state, that state was Delaware. Reguardless, having two world class cities in edition to all the other urbanization in and around the NYC area is silly and not pratctical.
-Clark should have given his kid the Kryptonian name Van-El, and Alan Moore given props for it.
-MAKE A SUPERMAN-CALIBER FIGHT! Wasn't Metallo supposed to be in the movie? He's in the game based on the movie. This ties into Luthor's plot as depicted being over the top.
-Luthor is a supposedly class-twelve intelect, and yet he didn't even consider that Kryptonite gives humans cancer with prolonged exposure?

And that suddenly makes me the new Adamwankenobi?

Isn't he allowed to have that opinion? I mean, shouldn't we be able to be extremely harse on something that does not affect anybodies well-being? As long as he isn't trying to force his opinion onto you, I see no reason why he can't be extremely harsh.

?!

What? I wasn't saying he couldn't have an opinion! I was just saying I didn't understand or agree with it, not entirely. WHere did you get the idea I was saying you couldn't have an opinion?

And seriously, SVJ, I'd never equate you with Adamwankenobi (as we knew him when he was here)...

I actually liked SR....

But it's clear I'm in the minority (and I do agree with many of the grumbles people have about the film - I just see past them). It probably helps that I wasn't a big Superman comic fan before I saw the film (although it has inspired me to seek out and read some Superman graphic novels, so that's a good thing, right?)

Yeah- the more you care for a subject or it's source the more harsh one can be. For examples see most of the posts in the 'General Star Wars' section!

Plus HSVIJ has a LONG way to go to get bitchier than me about some things!

The reason I said that was because the way you said "it seems like you're extremely harsh on it" and that is, in a way, his opinion. I'm not trying to start any fights here. So let's all be mature about this and just drop, okay?

Drop what? Geez - All HSvsIJ did was cuss a movie he didn't like (SR) and all Chaltab did was say that HSvsIJ was being particularly harsh towards said movie. Where's the problem?

Clark should have given his kid the Kryptonian name Van-El, and Alan Moore given props for it.

Alan Moore will not allow his name to associated with any future filmed adaptaitons of his work, and does not want his work to be filmed in the first place.

Well, 'For The Man Who Has Everything' was already adapted as an episode of Justice League Unlimted, but that's besides the point. Just calling the child Van-El wouldn't be adapting Moore's work since the original Van-El was just a fantasy in Clark's mind. But it's probably the Kryptonian name he would have actually given his child had he been real. If Moore didn't want his name on it, then whatever.

The JLU adaptation of "For the Man Who Has Everything" was one of my favorite episodes from the JLU run (good show but I liked it better when it was just the seven heroes with the two-parters). Superman is so cool when he's pissed.
