Message to Paramount Please fire Rick Berman!

The cancellation of a good show like enterprise is not acceptible when there is so much crap on t.v. Besides the fact that star trek has been going down hill ever since berman took over in 1994. Please hand the writing over to judith and garfield reeves stevens, and put the roddenberry family as the producers. They would know more about Gene's Vision than Berman, they would'nt wreck the franchise. Plus it is intolerable that Rick Berman had alienated the cast of the original star trek and not allowed them creative imput over the franchise. there should have been more classic films and next generation films. With good writing and scripts it could've been done, but now to make a movie which has nothing to do with any of the t.v. shows or actors. Why No Enterprise movies? The last episode of enterprise was as pathetic as nemesis was.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

While I agree that Berman is grinding the franchise into the ground, I also think it needs a break. The original series ran for 3 years followed a few years later by the animated show, and The Motion Picture 10 years after the original series. Since then, we've had 26 years of nearly uninterrupted Star Trek. Time to give it a rest.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Why not have a series about 'the other side'. How about a series that circles around a romulan ship that is 'exploring' the galaxy? I would have liked to see something along those lines. Would have been a great way to involve a greater backplot that involves the shared history of romulans and vulcanians as well. The franchise has so much more to offer than the endless exploration of every facet of the federation.

Agreed. I love Star Trek (probably more than Star Wars), but it needs some time off. Hopefully enough time off that Berman will find his way over the side of a cliff before Star Trek's return.

I'm going through the second season of TOS now and plan to pick up season 3 when I'm done. After that, I'm going to swallow hard and grab the 7-season set of TNG. I loved TNG back when it was on the air, and can't wait to see it all again. Actually, watching TOS has shown me that there were a lot of episodes I'd never seen, and with 7 seasons under its belt, I'm sure I'll be watching a lot of TNG episodes for the first time.
If I ever manage to finish it, I'll check out DS9, which I also really enjoyed during its first few seasons. I slacked off and stopped watching though.

Speaking of the animated series, is there any talk of it hitting DVD anytime soon? The LD box set sells on ebay for around $100. I'm about ready to cave.

I loved DS9 and thought the series got stronger (season 6 being my personal fave) as it progressed - it's tributes to TOS are many and very well done.

Trek lost out when TIIC stayed with Berman and discounted the qualities of Moore and the other DS9 execs - seemingly more so now that Morre's done such a promising start on the new Galactica series, and Trek had now gone into a much needed hibernation. Recycled stories and direction that havn't differed from the days of the TNG crew has not paid off during VOY and ENT, and it will not in the future, massive changes are needed for quality Trek for the future...

I'll pay forty bucks for TAS. If they charge eighty then I'll still only pay forty but I'll have to run out the door before security catches me.

AJK: I'll give you $40.
Clerk: The price is $80.

AJK places $40 on the counter and continues to browse with the TAS set in his hands. He is approached by Sulu.

Sulu: The word, Admiral?
AJK: The word is $80. I am, therefore, going anyway.

AJK and Sulu rush for the exit yelling, "The Kobyashi Maru has set sail for the Promised Land."

The animated series, man...it's been years since I've seen that. Trek was always with Wars as the two franchises of my youth. I could never tell which series I liked more, though thanks to the EU, it's probably Wars.

Still, ever since Enterprise, I haven't been big on Trek. I just didn't like the characters or the direction it was going in, It felt too much like a best of show and I stopped watching it only a few episodes in, and don't count it in my canon.

I agree with Gundark. It needs a rest. I highly enjoyed Nemesis, and think it gets a bad rap, but Enterprise needs to be buried and forgotten, with the show carried on later by more skilled hands like Moore or Strazinsky. Heck, a line of official novels might be nice, depending on how good they are.

Trek needs to find it's roots again. Moore has done wonders reimagining BSG, another show I loved, though not as much as Trek.

Some Trek USA dvd release info (from the DigitalBits website):-

"And for you Star Trek fans, look for the 2-disc Star Trek: Nemesis - Special Collector's Edition on 10/4. As many of you know, Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Second Season is currently due on 7/26. Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Third Season is officially slated for 9/20 (that's confirmed). Rounding out the series' release, Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Fourth Season should arrive on 11/1. Also... and this is something of a surprise... our sources are currently telling us that Star Trek: The Complete Animated Series is tentatively planned for DVD release in September (on 9/6). There will also be a new Star Trek: The Motion Pictures DVD Collection box set on 10/4, along with a 4-season Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Series set on 11/1."
