Been a while since this came up.

Anyhoo, the series was definitely "lost" when they showed that group of 6 episodes in the Fall...the ones that focused on Jack, Sawyer, and Kate. The first few eps of the current run were also a suck-fest.

The last couple of eps, however, have definitely found their stride again.

I agree for the most part. Things have gotten really weird and interesting. I actually have a hard time realizing I'm watching the same show when I think about the first season. But the writers really know how to jerk ur memory around. It's weird watching the first two seasons knowing what I do know, cuz some of it was set up waaay before-hand.

I agree the show is starting to pick up a little, but no where near as good as it was at parts of season two. It is sad, the show had great potential. All my friends who could not stop talking about the show up to and after the finally stoped watching after the first six episodes of season three. But I guess enough people still watch it that ABC has been talking about stretching it out to seven seasons. To me the show has already jumped the shark, now it is only mildly amusing. It is like reading a mystery novel where there is another murder every single chapter, but no luck in the search for the murderer, and you already know nothing about the murderer is going to pop up until the very end of the book in a chapter yet unwritten. So, where is the motivation to read the book? Might as well wait until the last chapter is writen and start reading from there.

Also the interaction between the characters is piss poor. Only the part of the story the writers are currently focusing on has any substance, they might as well not include scenes in which they have no idea what to do with them. All the scenes with the beach people are all really poorly done, it is like the writers have no clue where to go with those characters, but they feel they have to include them anyway so they just scribble down bits of drivel. Nothing is happening there at all, they just sit around all day, some guy finds a mysterious Volts Wagon crashed out in the middle of the jungle (where there is no road or even terrain vialble for such a vehicle), tells every one and they treat him rudely and have no interest whatsoever in checking it out. Uh, yeah...

That long?!? They are nuts. There is no master plan for this series, they make the story up as they go along. They are stretching it way too much and I think that makes it more difficult to present a reasonable explanation of what the hell is going on on that island. This series starts to look like season 3 of prison break where they are still trying to get out of prison.

If thats on the scope they are thinking then how long before it jumps the shark (or viewers no longer care)?

And how do you really rate the repeat value of watching any particular episode ever again?
Author
Time
See that is the thing, these things have pretty much no repeat value at all. I think they do have a "master plan", but they are adding a lot to it. I think there is a general direction they want to head and a place they want to end up in the end, but they are spending as much time as they can beating around the bush in order to make the show last the currently planned five season and maybe more. I thought season two was great, even the transition from season one to season two was excellent, but since three things have slowed to an extreme hault. And some things are getting too stupid and predictable.

Yeah, but it shouldn't be hard to write stories for both locations. The show could easily have two things going on at once, but it seems like it is unable to multitask. We either get excitment on the beach at the cost of nothing with the others, or excitment with the people hunting out the others camp with nothing at the beach. And when there is nothing going on at the beach the writing for those scene is very half assed. The show use to be able to juggle multiple things, they could squeeze a lot more into that forty two minute time slot.

The last couple of episodes have really got me interested in Lost again - as the previous eps seemed to do little to hold the viewers attention.

I hope that it just isn't the fact of the Other's home has been found, and that there is now a new dynamic to the story, that will keep me interested - though I suppose the next few episodes will tell... damn those Lost writers - they've got me watching it intently again just because of 2 good eps this season...

You have reached the last of the good episodes. Your in for a lot of crap until you reach the 13th and 14th episode of season three. But since you are watching them on DVD (the smart way to go), once you get over the initial search of waiting for the DVD release, you wont have to wait for the next episode, which makes watching crappy episodes a bit more bearable.

Wow, I had no idea Billy D was really going to be on the show, I thought stinky was just being himself and saying something random. Sucks he was only on screen for a matter of seconds. I bet they put him on to compensate for their murdering or kicking off every black guy/woman on the island.

So what did everyone think about the last episode? I thought it was total crap and truly a waste of time. After the last two episodes becoming more interesting this one was an undersirable change of pace.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty lousy too. I am glad, however, that they killed those two off (they did, didn't they?). I thought they were going to try to turn them into regulars, even though we never saw them until 50 episodes into the show.

According to IMDB, they are still part of the cast for the next few episodes. I hope they are dead, but I wouldn't hold my breath .

Lost officially jumped the shark when Hurley got the VW bus engine to turn over while barreling down that hill. Since that moment, the show has been one stinking pile of ass jelly. What a fucking waste of time. Sometimes when you guys discuss current episodes I think you lack perspective. Don't you remember when it was actually interesting, well written, and well acted? For fuck sake this show is nothing but the young and the restless on an island now. Gay, sooooooo gay.
