Kate is indeed nothing but eye candy now. her contributions this season have been to crawl through a vent at a convient camera angle, and to take a shower. Its too bad EL is a good actress, the kate character has kind of been hit and miss from about halfway through season1. I don't really care what she did but they've tried to milk that card for more then its worth.

This show needs to get its footing again, Last week was solid and they need to keep that up for the rest of the season because the first 6 were very uneven. Needs to get back its character driven strength and the way it use to juggle the characters so easily, because thats what is hurting the show the most, too many characters at the moment.

I pretty much agree with you on all accounts you mentioned here. But you have to admit, Kate is great eye candy to look at. And EL is a really good actress, I wanted her up for the role of Lois for Superman Returns, but that could't work out b/c of Lost.

The show has definietly lost a step from last season. I'm currently watching S1 again on DVD and the quality just isn't the same. Every ep last season was an A grade IMO, but so far none have reached that this season. It's even gone into the direction of annoying me several times, but it hasn't made me stop watching. My friend also said it's bored him at times as well, which I agree with also. Last weeks ep pretty much is how I feel about the entire season so far, the 1st half of it was pretty boring, then the 2nd half picked up and was pretty good. But still not on the quality of S1.

And anybody notice how we haven't seen the "monster" yet this season?

yeah

although I think last week was the most solid episode they've had this season. that and the hurley one.

The show jumped the shark when they revealed the hatch has a front door.

But I don't stop watching either, it can still all be redeemed.

Well I'll be d/l that tonight, and hopefully it will be in sync. The last to episodes have been way out.
Pissing UK tv, we're still not done with season 1 yet, and fuck if I'm waiting another year to watch season 2 on TV.

Oh well!

I enjoyed this past episode as well. It has picked up a bit the last few. Hopefully, we will soon get some resolution and that they don't just drop the ball on several of last season's mysteries.

SPOILER

Does Shannon's death mean we won't be seeing Walt's ghost anymore?

I've wondered that to. although sayid saw him to so maybe now they all will be able.

I think the whispers are the voices of all the telepaths who have been taken by the others.

Well yeah we know Walt is special and its been alluded to that there are others. after all the dharma initiave's fields of study are:

meteorology (the weird rain)
electromagnetics (the compass being off balance, all the crash landings there, etc)
psychology (the way people are being tested)
para-psychology (ESP)
zoology (the polar bears)
and utopian social engineering (the others)

6 stations, sex fields of study. thats how I see it anyways.

BTW, tonights episode was great. The show is finally back on track. It seems the problem was the intercutting to the raft people, as soon as that was taken out of the equation everything got better.

I didn't record last night's episode. Forgot to put the correct channel on the VCR for recording. Damn. Will it be on again before next week's episode? Do they replay on the weekend or anything?

Check that, I'll just buy it off iTMS and watch on my new iMac. Woo hoo!!!

Spoilers and Rumours for those that haven't caught up to Season 2

I heard a rumour on the radio that because of Michelle Rodriguez's drinking problem that they are writing her out of Lost. It was one of her conditions of hire that she promised to stay sober. Evidentily she caused the director and producers of Blue Crush(?) a lot of problems and she has gained quite a rep over that. As I said its a rumour. I personally like her character but quite a few around here(Detroit) don't. I'm glad they killed Shannon off, I prefer Sayid alone and angry. I'm hoping Locke's character isn't replaced by Echo being the mystery man on the island. And to complete my Lost rant, I hope Lost isn't going the way of the X-Files by becoming bogged down with unanswered plot lines. Tho, it took the The X-Files alot longer to slow down, IMHO.

"I hope Lost isn't going the way of the X-Files by becoming bogged down with unanswered plot lines."

But, X-Files' biggest problem was that it tried to have a semi-serialized story arc sprinkled in the middle of episodes that had nothing to do with each other - if you watch all the Mythology episodes in order without the monster-of-the-week episodes, any problems the show had virtually disappear until you get to the Super Soldiers.

Lost, on the other hand, is completely serialized, and its major issue is that if it tries to mix things up (i.e. the raft, the tail-section survivors), it has to keep going with it, and in such a "transitional period" like the first part of this season has been, its bound to be not-as-good as the past season(s) have been.

The new BSG is a prime example - after the shocking end of season 1, it couldn't be expected that season 2 would be the same - so the first 7 episodes were "transitional" and regarded by many as not up to S1's standards.

Hm. Most of you seem to be feeling the exact opposite of me. A lot of you have been saying that you thought the second series started off really bad, but has been getting progressively better. I feel like it started out exceedingly well, but has been getting more and more boring as time goes on.

I do agree that they just have too many characters on the show right now, and it's hard to really make any kind of attachment to the characters when sometimes a character won't even be in an episode for a good while. Just look at Charlie. Last seaspn I would have been furious if they had killed him off, but this season he's hardly done anything of note, and it's like he doesn't even matter anymore.

At first I thought it was really exciting when they brought in the other survivors, but I'm starting to think it might have been a bad idea.

By the way, Darren Aronofsky is going to be directing an episode of Lost sometime in 2006! I'm really anxious to see that.

Just give us more Evangeline Lilly each week and we will be happy.
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

A few indifferent episodes of late - but back on track with the latest Locke-centric / Hurley-Dave episode.

Little by little we are getting to know that much more about the island...

Man, i could see the conclusion of the whole series coming down to something really lame like the whole island existing in Hurlys mind, and none of it being real like in that episode. I get the feeling everything will come back to Jack in the end. I'm becoming disillusioned with the whole thing of late. Its all very drawn out and chippy choppy storywise. Still, i cant help but lap it up...

Perhaps one last series then tie it up?

Anyone watch the season premier last night? Damn, Evangeline Lily is so fine.

There was a scene that was quite "Planet of the Apes" - esque in there, but overall pretty good.

I usually don't watch anything on TV besides sports. But over the summer I got sucked into this show and watched seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. So now I guess I'll be watching this show every week.

That first episode was really weird. First the village, then the zoo/aquarium place. I know this episode is just designed for you to go "what the hell is going on?!" and I have to say they succeeded in doing just that.

I started watching it on DVD with my wife a few months ago, I really didn't care much for it at all until a few episodes into season 2. I really liked the concept of the button. And how they would let you think one thing for so long, then flip everything upside down. Like the notebooks and the pneumatic tube system. I thought season 3 startes out pretty good with a great "what the heck" sort of monent. I think this season could turn out to be as interesting as the button, or it could cave in on itself.

Hey guys,

I'm in the UK, but I'm one of those guys whose been downloading Lost since the beginning.

Season 2 fiished here just over a week ago, but me and the missus watched 3.01 tonight. The text I sent to a friend of mine sums it all up...

...."the first episode of the new Lost changes EVERYTHING!!!"

I'll be honest, I was worried that it was gonna get messed up, but those first 5 minutes of that first show makes me feel that there really is a masterplan, and its not just written on the fly
