Interview?

Has any journalist actually pressed Lucas in an interview on why he's not releasing the Non-SE's? I liked to see that.

The only interviews I ever find are basically promos that ask inane questions and continuously praise him for the 'wonderful wonderful films' he's given all of us.

I'm pretty sure those are the only times Lucas "presents" himself to "the press"... those few, carefully chosen "journalists" who are spoonfed the questions they are allowed to ask. Nothing more. He leaves the dirty work to his cronies like Rick McCallum, Steve Sansweet, and Jim Ward.

but i think they mean an in depth interview on why he's not releasing the originals jimbo...

we know Lucas says they are not his vision of the movies and we can accept that...
but a good question would be....
"don't you believe you are destroying a piece of cinematic history but not making these films available on dvd... afterall VHS doesnt last forever?"

something along those lines would at least put Lucas on the spot to give us more of an explanation as to why he is doing what he is doing....

I agree with luke - strangely no journalist or fan has managed to ask him these and other similar questions, which is a shame in itself.

Not you, Jimbo! I said it to Zombie Chewbacca! There is a George Lucas quote about it on the petition...

Any questions we'd ask should be submitted by OriginalTrilogy.com, rather than just one person asking a question here and another there, because Lucas can ignore individuals extremely easily. I'd like to see how he and his yes men would respond to questions provided by a website that represents nearly 60,000 fans; it would be a bit harder for him to ignore. It's definitely worth a try.

One thing I think would be hilarious is for a documentary filmmaker to prepare a set of questions for Lucas and create a film focusing on him trying to actually infiltrate Skywalker Ranch and other places to get to Lucas and sit him down for an honest interview. An impossible hope, but the documentary could be entitled, 'Desperately Seeking Lucas,' or something like that.

How about "Super Size Jabba", "Bowling for Coruscant", "Fahrenheit 01/31/1997" (special edition release), or "George and Me"? The truth story of how George (Lucas, not Dubya) got insane and decided to destroy his own creation... Hey, a Michael Moore spoof AND a Star Wars fan film, all in one! Ain't that a great idea?

That's a brilliant idea, Ric, and basically what I was thinking of! 'Bowling For Coruscant' is my favorite, personally.

lol im with 'Bowling For Coruscant' too!!

i think it would be a great idea for our whole site to submit questions to Mr. Lucas and see what he has to say...
im sure we could catch him in sooooooo many contradictions it would make his head spin...

if a documentry is made, can we place a photo of Han Shooting First outside of Skywalker Ranch...

How about we do it? Anyone here is into low budget flim making? A movie student perhaps? We could get a Michael Moore look-alike and a George Lucas look-alike, and he goes to Lucas home:

Over the intercom:
"Hi, this is Michael Moore, I'm doing a film about special editions and director's cuts and all that stuff, and I'm wondering if I could talk to you..."
"Tell you what, I can't fit you in my schedule tomorrow morning 8am."

The next morning, he is invited to his home, and they talk:

"I'm a Star Wars fan, you know? Here's my Hyperspace code..."
"Good for you... Good for you..."
"So... uh... why did you decide to alter your movies?"

And George Lucas in a Lucasarts reunion, with a film roll in his hands:

"I have only five words for you... FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!"

That is some funny stuff and as an independent filmmaker I have actually thought about making a movie about the Star Wars movies before. More accurately about the fan reaction and dedication to the original trilogy. The problem is I have no money for such a project. I just picture a group of like 20 or so people camped out in front of the ranch with signs that read "Let the originals go free" or "Special Editions are murder" something like that. I though about interviewing all sorts of film historians and possible Steven Spielberg and if possible the big man himself.

It could be an interesting project if the funding was there. Kinda like the Trekkies movie that was out not to long ago. Actually I never saw that but something like what I think that movie is.

A good title would be...
"Desperately Seeking Lucas"

Trekkies was great, even for myself, who knows almost nothing about Star Trek and dislike it very much.

C'mon, independent filmmakers out here, make a movie about Star Wars fans and their declared hate over George Lucas new creations! You've got the title already: "Bowling for Coruscant"! All you gotta do is get some interviews, and with some luck, maybe interview Lucas himself!

Scene sugestion: after being fed up with the interview, George Lucas leaves. A Michael Moore look-alike then shows a picture of a mid-20s nerd with big glasses, lousy hair cut, and a lightsaber in his hand.

"Mr. Lucas, come back. Look. This is one of the fans you're letting down. Look at the picture, mr. Lucas."

Then he leaves the picture at his front door and leaves.
