Info: Well yes, it's another OT project. (* unfinished project *)

Someone I know through our website is currently having a stab at doing a LD/DVD conversion of the OT, with emphasis on the bonus material as much as anything else. I know there are loads of them around, but I thought I’d share what he’s come up with for the menus as they’re pretty nice. Here are the images he’s done for Jedi so far. He’s pretty much decided on the one with the central red border.

Here are the others:

I like the use of the artwork, rather than the standard clips from the films etc. The menus will all be animated, with different central images cycling every 30 seconds, accompanied by appropriate music from the trilogy. Obviously they’re nowhere near cmplete yet, but they look promising.

PCM *and* AC3? Don't think that's been done before ...

But the menus kick ass. I personally prefer the non-bordered one, myself.

Some very sweet artwork on those menus - very impressive m8

Those menus are great. I think that the borderless one is the way to go though.

[Ahem]...watch the skies...

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

I love the idea behind this set. Is there an official thread or site for the project?

I love bonus material. I've seen some of the menu paintings before, but they look really great on DVD.

Which LD's are they coming from? Definitive Collection or Faces? If it's a good transfer, this could be a great set.

Star Wars Video Games gallery
Star Wars Video Games from the arcade, Atari 2600, Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo (DVD-ROM)
Star Wars scripts (DVD-ROM)

Note: I was originally intending on including the Muppet Show episode featuring Mark Hamill, however, due to available disc space and the fact that it will be available commercially in the very near future I decided to omit it from the set.

Here are a few menus from Star Wars, jedi and one of the bonus discs. The author sent me the complete menus for Empire and they are very nice (great use of music and artwork). He also included a short clip of Vader and Luke fighting on Cloud City, which while not completely restored is probably as good as anything that's already available. They're taken from the DC rather than the Faces set, as according to the author the transfers for Empire and Jedi are better on the DC set (even if a few seconds of Empire are missing). As he put it, he's using the lesser of two evils.

Is there actually any point in including both Dolby Digital 2.0 AND PCM Stereo considering the Dolby is just an inferior version of the PCM?
Author
Time
They are DL discs, which is probably why he added both Dolby and PCM tracks. Be nice to compare them if nothing else.

Not my menus I'm afraid, I'm just posting them on behalf of the guy who's working on them.

These look absolutely stunning!
Maybe a certain Mr Lucas should take a look at this, to see how things should be done?

These look nice but I am guessing they are from the NTSC release, right?

Too bad you don't have access to a PAL LD set.

Love your menus.

Looks very cool, keep us updated!

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

The menus are definitely nice, and the Easter Eggs list is very cool, but since there's so many of them, too bad it's not just all included on there instead of being Eggs. I personally think Easter Eggs are getting old and wish the stuff would just be on the discs and not hidden.
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

Is this set still being made? Any updates?

I love the mcquarrie menu's way better than the official lucasfilm moving image menus.

speaking of mcquarrie it's weird no one has made a fan project using his paintings to make movies, since their was a trailer for empire that did. a fan dvdr of his stuff would be cool. other than his star wars stuff, i love his artwork for the asimov series of books.

Hope this project is still active. It looks great. I too love the menus. Wonder if there is room on the SW disc to also add the mono audio track?

Once I have a few million in the bank, I'm gonna hire an overseas animation company to make a cartoon version of Lucas first draft of Star Wars: The Adventures of Luke Starkiller in the artistic style of the McQuarrie paintings. And then I'll be going to jail. It'll be worth it.
