From what I’ve heard Looper is a very interesting movie so if anything we should be getting a “radical” film. Though whether it will be a well written film is another matter entirely

He also directed ‘Fly’ from Breaking Bad, which, boiled down, is essentially just two men trapped in a room with a fly stretched out for an hour, and it turned out to be one of the best episodes of the entire series.

How the shit did you forget Ozymandias?

I never watched Season 5

What!? You need to watch it, seriously. It’s the best last season of any TV show ever.

Eh, I’ve watched the first few episodes and never felt compelled to finish it. Season 4 ended perfectly with an amazing build-up, climax, and one of the most satisfying resolutions in any TV series. From what I’ve seen of Season 5, it just felt kinda forced and unnecessary, and a total mood killer after binging the first 4.

As great as the Season 4 finale was you don’t want to see how the overall story ends?

From what I remember of the spoilers, essentially everyone dies iirc, so yeah, meh.

Hey man, only four of the main cast die 😛. And even so, don’t you want to see how it all plays out? That last season has some of the best acting, writing, and directing of the entire series.

I feel if I say anything further at this point, I’ll just be digging myself an even deeper hole.

What, a man builds a giant mound of dirt in his house and you aren’t entertained?

Luke dies, Rey turns to the dark side, Kylo redeems himself, Snoke turns out to be Mace Windu reincarnated, Finn looses a leg, Chewie gets cancer, and R2 explodes.

These spoilers come from a very reliable source, user xxxCoDPwner2002xxx on forums.starwarseu4ever.net

What a naive thinking. It will be Disney/LF who will specify what kind of film it will be.

As usual, despite what you may think, you know nothing about anything.

They wouldn’t hire someone like this if they didn’t want to go in an interesting direction. If they really wanted more of the same they would have probably would have went for a more run of the mill director.

I would not call Kasdan “run-of-the-mill” writer either and yet look at how TFA turned out.

Yes, TFA was safe but so was Rogue One and they’re both good films. But lets not forget that JJ wrote the script as well so I’m sure a lot of the safe aspects of the film were due to him and Disney.

Is this a good thread for posting bizarre Snoke theories the fandom’s made? I just heard a weird one: Snoke is an angel.

I guess George wasn’t kidding about that poetry thing.

It’s hard to deny that Snoke looks a lot like an Angel, and that image is canon. I’m not sure if there’s any more evidence or the theory is just based solely on looks.

Supposedly there was a tweet by Pablo Hidalgo that strongly hinted in favour of it, but the person I heard it from never linked it.

Of all the Snoke theories I’ve read, the angel one, of all things, is the best. It might just be weird enough to work.

Ever since the Malachor arc on Rebels I’ve been convinced that Snoke is someone from the KOTOR era. Not an actual KOTOR character of course, but someone from whatever the current canon’s version of that section of the timeline is.

So’s Maz, right? Didn’t she say she was a few thousand years old or am I misremembering?

Rogue One is hardly “risky”, but it’s considerably moreso than TFA.
TFA is the blockbuster equivalent of Oscar bait; checking requirements off a list to ensure lots of money/awards.
Rogue One at least told an interesting story we hadn’t seen before.
TLJ will be very telling as to the general direction of new Star Wars. I’m willing to dismiss TFA as JJ’s fanboy vanity project if TLJ does anything worthwhile.

I think the more bitter than sweet nature of TFA’s backstory along with Rey being inherently more competent in The Force than Luke partially offsets the fact that Rogue One didn’t focus on the Light Side v Dark Side debacle.

Yeah, especially considering how well TFA and R1 did. If TLJ isn’t innovative or original (for the most part) Disney will have shown their unwillingness to do new things. This would make the brand worthless in time.

I have long speculated that Kasdan primarily wrote the first third of TFA (my favorite section) and that JJ had far more of an input in the rest of the movie. Again, this is backed by nothing other than the fact that I consider Kasdan to be a far superior writer.

They wrote the script very much together. That’s just a fact. JJ had final say obviously as he was the director but it was a complete collaboration.

And honestly, JJ’s track record in recent years is far superior to Kasdan’s.
