Enterprise Finale

****Spoilers Ahead!!****

What did you think of it? I thought it was ok. It was nice to see some of the TNG sets recreated (I had tears in my eyes when I saw Ten-Forward). Frakes is getting older. Sirtis looked a tiny bit heavier, but I think she's still a very attractive woman.

The story itself was weak, but not terrible. The whole story line with T'Pol and Trip blew cheese since day one, so I wasn't impressed. I'll just be glad to be rid of Jolene Blalock, even though she was nice eye candy.

The ending was a VERY nice touch, with the voiceovers from the previous captains, and the non-pc version of the "These are the voyages" speech.

Despite losing interest afer it's first two seasons - coupled with the poor quailty TNG-retread that was Voyager - I will tune into see this finale when it hits the UK.

Hopefully TIIC at Paramount will give Trek a good long break and have a good look around at the quality shows of new Battlestar Galactica, FireFly and any other new quality sci-fi before releasing a new series.

Cheers for the heads-up JediSage, I probably wouldn't have realised they'd have done the series finale yet if it weren't for this.

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

I thought that Enterprise was a pretty good show and I wish it could stick around to continue to improve. Enterprise was better than Voyager, but still way behind the other three.
I thought the finale was fine, but I wish they had let us hear the speech by Archer. This is a landmark occasion for the Federation and I thought it would be interesting to see. They should have added Avery Brooks' voice and Kate Mulgrew's voice to end. Also, I wish they had come up with a new scenario for Riker(he got his own ship in the last movie, why can't we see that?) rather than just rehash an old Next Generation episode.

Got to agree with every word, but the back story of Riker using the Enterprise stuff to help him decide what to do about his old CO and the Pegasus wasn't too bad.

I agree about Riker. Definitely would have been nice to see him on his own ship.

IMO it was good to keep Mulgrew and Brooks out, as this show and the other two were about ships named Enterprise, after all. There was no monologue for VOY or DS9.

The speech by Archer...pheh..."Peace and Love, accept any and all beliefs as being equal, blah blah blah blah...*insert more socialist drivel*", you get the point. I'm fine without it. I thought Enterprise in it's final year was better than the first 4 years of VOY, but not the last two. VOY and ENT fell into the false jeopardy and bogus plot line traps: Ship is en route to generic alien with bumpy foreheads planet, encounters generic spatial anomally, techno-babble resolution, hit the reset button for next week. Very week. The result is a show where none of the characters grow, change, die, or face any type of real threat. Until they get a creative team willing to challenge the BS Roddenberry utopian drivel philosophy that the last "creative" team adopted, you'll have a show with no character driven conflict, eg: nothing interesting.

Riker was back on the Enterprise? So Braga and what's his name are destroying their own continuity? That's just pathetic.

I guess you didn't see it.

Riker is on the Enterprise-D Holodeck, observing events that take place 100 years before him (6 years after the previous episode of Enterprise). The timeframe for Riker is the episode where the Enterprise-D goes after the Pegasus (The Pegasus).

Riker is troubled, he wants to disobey a direct order from his previous Captain, but cannot determine if its the right thing to do. Troi advises him to consult the Holorecords of the final days of the NX-01 Enterprise, and that is what he does. He plays a few different parts (Chef, a Maco, etc.), or just observes.

i found the last ep really week, the riker thing was ok but i didnt like the idea of the whole holodeck so it would have been better with out all that. the other thing i didnt like was the lack of the archer speech the whole series we hear about archer signing the decaration and so on the went it comes to it they dont show the speech. if written properly it would have been the prefect end to the show. the whole these are the voyages seemed to fall flat. the voice overs with the different captains was good thou.

I was wondering how they inserted him in there. Still, I missed it, and will probably not bother trying to see it. Enterprise just didn't grab me. I enjoyed all the series up to Voyager, but Enterprise just felt wrong. From the opening being stolen from Patch Adams, to the cynical Vulcans, to T'pol being a 7of9 ripoff, it just didn't float well. I liked the first few episodes, but after a few I agreed with my sister that it was trying too hard to be a "best of" type show. Catching later season episodes just turned it all sour what with "the weapon". Th'eyre developing "the weapon". We must stop "the weapon". Granted this was gleamed from overhearing it when my dad was watching it, but it just seemed like some poor excuse for an action sci-fi show, not Star Trek.

This show just isn't in my kanon. To me, the NX-01 doesn't exist. There have only been six Enterprises.

Meh, I thought the Finale could have been great if only they had done some more editing and edited out the whole Riker/Troi subplot.

If I wanted to see Riker or Troi I could watch TNG.

When I want to see the story of Archer and the NX-01, I watch Enterprise.

For an earlier episode, the backstory may have been a nice touch, maybe, but for the finale? I wanted a totally 22nd century, NX-01 crew story for that.

I wanted a J. Michael Straczynski type ending: Archer dies, everyone leaves the ship except for someone totally inconsequential, like Malcolm or Montgomery, Trip is left a bitter old man dreaming of the "glory" days, etc; That's kind of how he ended B5. He's never been afraid of killing off major characters or turning the show upside down. That's why I wish they'd tap him to run any franchise that may rear it's head in a few years.

Yeah, I agree. What this episode could have been was a special one-hour one-shot event thing, then it would have been perfect. But for the finale of Enterprise, it shouldn't have been...yes.
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

I went back and watched the Next Gen episode "The Pegasus" and the two episodes do not connect very well. At the end of the Enterprise episode, Riker says that he has made is decision and is ready to speak to Captain Picard. However, in the Next Gen episode, he doesn't tell Picard until they are trapped in the middle of an asteroid. I really shouldn't be suprised since they have already destroyed some of the Classic series episodes revolving around Vulcans not lying and no women in command, they might as well take a shot at a Next Gen episode as well.

What season was "The Pegasus"? I have the first five on dvd, so maybe I should watch that episode again...
