Bionic Woman 2007

So, who watched the Bionic Woman pilot? Who plans on watching it regularly? I watched it, I thought it was pretty decent. The star, Michelle Ryan, is wholesomely sexy.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

i like the original pilot with the deaf sister better than the retooled one.

the first pilot involved one of the creators of space above and beyond glen morgan who has since left the project.

the only thing i liked about the pilot that aired was starbuck from the new galactica, LOL

the story and plot were rather weak hopefully the show improves as time goes by.

i thought i would be hard to find a show worse written and more incoherent than the new flash gordon until this show, LOL.

Journeyman, heroes and bionic woman is the best nbc can muster.

as for the sci fi channel once razor airs and galactica season 4 is over their is not much to stick around for. the new flash gordon and season 4 of atlantis, hahaha, lol sci fi gets owned.

Why did they have to name her Jamie Sommers in the new series? It just becomes another rehash of what's been done. But if they'd just given her a new name, then Lindsay Wagner's Bionic Woman and this new one could peacefully coexist in the same universe ... Bionic Woman TNG so to speak. Is there ANY reason why they had to give her the same damn name and thus negate the original upon which this is based?

I think the name Jaime Sommers is just an omage to the original show, but they also want to have their storyline to make it still original. I didn't think it was that bad, I read some reviews on the internet, and was expecting worse, but it was actually pretty good. This is the kinda show you take with a grain of salt, and don't expect too much, and you'll be pleasantly suprised.

I dont' think that is a fair analogy, the PT was being compared to the OT, and had to sit next to the OT when watched in a certain order (1-6 or 4-6,1-3), so it had to stand up to the classics before it.

The Bionic Women, though taken from the 1970's show, does not have to sit next to it as part of the continuing story, so in that respect, you can enjoy or hate it if you want on its own terms. I don't expect this to be the greatest show ever, I just think the pilot was entertaining and seems like it could be pretty good.

If Lucas would have made 3 new SW movies that had zero to do with the OT, had zero characters or plot points that related to the OT, I think many fans would take them for what they are, either you like it or you don't and wouldn't have to compare them to SW, ESB, and ROTJ.

I'm pretty sure this Bionic Woman is not a sequel or prequel or whatever to the original.

That's right. It's another pointless "re-envisioning" because there are too many channels and not enough creative ideas.

Can you imagine if there were still only four networks including PBS and all the good shows were on with all the crap relegated to the dustbin of history? We'd never have a reason to get off the couch and take a walk.

I agree with you there, as the quality of TV just isn't what it was 10,20, even 30 years ago. I mean what the hell happened to the Sitcom? Are there any good sitcoms anymore? I can remember the days when there would be a whole block of shows: Thursday in the late 80's on NBC: Cosby, Family Ties, Cheers, Night Court, or Tuesday in the early 80's on ABC: Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Three's Company, Two Close For Comfort, or even the 90's on NBC: Friends, Frasier, Seinfeld on Thursday Nights.

All you have today is Law & Order this, Law & Order that, CSI, CSI:Miami, Cold Case, booooooorrrrring! HBO has the only great shows of the past few years with The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood, SixFeet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Entourage.

I am of the opinion that tv shows and movies have always been fairly lame and repetitive. Out of CO's list, I really only think Cosby and Seinfeld are truly redeemable (though, Family Ties, Cheers, and Fraiser were generally alright).

A new bionic woman show might be good, though I have no intention of ever watching it. Maybe if one of my friends thinks it's great and plays a DVD set or something.

I saw the original pilot and wasn't blown away by the quality or plot - but did think it had promise and the deaf sister was interesting character. Am kind of curious to see how David Eick (BSG co-producer) does with the show too.

Haven't watched the re-tooled version of the pilot yet.

May well give the series a go to see how ex-EastEnders actress Michelle Ryan does in the lead role - IMHO she couldn't act for toffee in the BBC soap - though she did well in the BWpilot... hmmnn...

I would rank "The Office" higher than most of the ones you listed. I also can't help but love the fact that it doesn't have freaken canned laughter. Laugh tracks are something that have always annoyed the crap out of me. I shouldn't have to be qued at the points where I am suppose to laugh, if it is funny then I will laugh.

But whether a show is good or not, has a lot to do with the viewer. Some shows may just outright suck, but beyond that if a show is good or not is relative. Friends is considered one of the greatest Sitcoms of all time, and I don't like it.

Canned laughter pretty much ended in the 1960s. Most modern sitcom laughter is from live audiences... with a bit of canned laugher peppered in there occasionally if they don't feel the audience reaction is strong enough.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Really? Most modern sitcoms are filmed in front of live audiences? Like Seinfeld and Friends? They were live? I did not know that. I know some shows say at the beginning "this show is filmed in front of a live audience", but things like Seinfeld and Friends and most other modern sitcoms on TV seem like they have a lot of scenes in them (airport, city streets, resturants, stores, etc.) that would be very difficult to film in front of an audience, and their over all quality doesn't feel live. At any rate, canned or live, the laughter is irritating to me.

I think the only really great comedies to come out in recent years were Arrested Development, Earl and Psych. I think it is interesting that all three ditch the laugh track and let you get the jokes on your own. Not to mention they're all incredibly "smart" comedies, and Earl cleverly disguises it by having all the characters (except Darnell) dumb as shit.

The Office and Scrubs in particular never gelled with me. The sitcom is, in a word, dead. Two and Half Men? Give me a break, CBS, that forced claptrap would have been bad back in the day, it's no better now.

I'm finding better fare on FX and USA than HBO these days. Now that Big Love is on hiatus I'm going to drop HBO for a while. FX meanwhile gives really deep character dramas like The Shield and Rescue Me, while USA's Burn Notice was the best Action/Comedy since Magnum P.I. I'm still giving props to Jericho though ... y'all HAVE to watch that show before the new season starts.

I don't know....Jar-Jar sucks in any series. Granted, he would have fit better in a Teletubbies movie, but who watches the Teletubbies anyway? Stoners, that's who.

And Bionic Woman's writing staff must have been stoned with that pilot....they forgot to include a plot. NBC stands for Nasty Bad Channel, methinks.

Hey, if this evolves into a monster sized hit, do you think they'll do a spin-off-remake of the 6 Million Dollar Man, from which the original BIONIC WOMAN emerged? Talk about gender role reversal.

is there not a pilot from the mid to late nineties that was never aired for a new six million dollar man?

i think i saw one once up on demonoid where they also had an unaired pilot for a new journey to the center of the earth and voyage to the bottom of the sea, LOL.

so what do you think is better bionic woman or sci fi channel's painkiller jane?

i like bionic woman and the new flash gordon in all their cheesiness but much prefer the new galactica.

Dude, no offense, but what're you talking about? The show is designed as a remake.

That's right. It's another pointless "re-envisioning" because there are too many channels and not enough creative ideas.

Renvisioning my... Anyways, the original show isn't exactly held in the highest regard, and the creator of the new version is fairly respected, so who knows?

As it's one of the few genre shows on TV, and I'm a geek, I'll definately watch it in any event.

If they redo the Six-Million Dollar Man, they really need to adjust for inflation. The six-million dollar man is now just an old man with a heart valve.
