Its certainly different from the original.

I just hope they decide(d) to make an episode that used a classic BG script as a basis. I'd love to see a remake The Gun on Ice Planet Zero or The Living Legend.

Cobbled together from verious other posts I've made on this show.

Coming into the miniseries as a fan of the original, I had mixed reactions. I didn't care for the new Starbuck or Apollo, while I love that they merely reinvisioned the artstyle. I love the fact the the Galactica actually still looks like the Galactica.

Seeing the series, I've noticed that all the characters have smoothed out rather nicely. I actually have no problem with any of them now. The series has basically settled every problem I had with the miniseries. The only complaint I still have is the 'Cylons being created by man' part. It's rather overdone in Science Fiction now-a-days. I treat this seperately from the classic series. Enough is different to warrent the remake yet the same to keep it still 'Battlestar Galactica'. I love this show for different reasons than the original. This has to be one of the best reimaginings I've ever seen.

After watching 33 and Water, I was impressed. The characters had leveled off well, the plotlines don't have the chessy gimicks the miniseries had now and then ("just a few more minutes...."), and the mood and feel wass coming together. I can honestly say that I enjoyed those 90 minutes more than all I've seen of Enterprise(which isn't much). Seeing the rest, I can honestly say that this show kicks Enterprise's @$$, but that probably wouldn't be too hard. I haven't been this into a full space opera like this since B5.

After seeing the season finale, I have this to say. Do not watch this episode until 14 is available. The cliff hanger at the end is probably going to drive me nutsfor the next seven months wondering whether they'll fully open the can of worms they've presented. My cubits says no, but one never knows. Not to mention all the other loose ends floating around. I swear, if this turns out like another John Doe (a show I was really into that was cut short before any answers and a major development had occured) I'm going to be really fracking pissed.

Here's to the hope of a really good second season to come. The last few episodes of this one were far better than the miniseries itself. It's all coming together.

You're all in for quite a ride. It lags a bit in the middle, but hits full thottle around episode 10.

Most innovative and interesting sci-fi show in years.

Luckily us UK'ers have now seen the whole of the 1st series - and what a series it is. Characters that interact well with each other, non-hammy actors, breathtaking scenes in both CGI and quality of acting, intriguing stories - free of technobabble & moralistic and tidy endings, an enemy whose motives are not clear-cut - but VERY menacing, as well as some of the best risque gags that's been on tv for while

Also has a truely great B-story running throughout the entire season - which leads you to all sorts of questions and possibilites.

Hope this series gets a 2nd season - it definately deserves one.

The region 2 dvd for the 1st season is out soon too!

Some cool BSG BBS (1 of which you can ask some of the actors questions, the other has Chief Tyrol as a poster):-

I was going into this series thinking that it would have clunky CGI and everything would move at a Trek-Pace, then I saw how face-paced the action was in this show and how much better the CGI is compared to other Sci-Fi shows I've seen, quite cool(goes and downloads about 10 more eps).

I've read reviews of the series where the viewer complains about the fact that the camera doesn't always follow the action very well, as if it was being shot by an amateur with a high-quality camcorder.

I actually think it adds, rather than subtracts from the show. It adds a human element to the scenes that are entirely CG.

Real life doesn't always have steady-cams.

Despite how overused its becoming, I like the handicam look, especially for this show.

it really does, i love that type of shot, it almost makes the shots look more real. it not as perfect as CGI often seems. wait till you get to the end.

over-used? i have only seen this type of effect in two shows. firefly and battlestar. both of which were done by the same CG company.

I have indeed - and thoroughly enjoyed it too.

Didn't even have to persuade the missus to miss her Coronation St and EastEnders that much on a Monday night

Really like the 'handheld cam' thing for the battle scenes - havn't watched Firefly, so it's pretty new and original angle to go with, for me.

Six and Baltar crack me up - some of the best lines/scenes go to these two, deservedly so too. Great chemistry.

I meant the handicam look in general, not just Sci-Fi tv shows.

2nd season confirmed:-

http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?category=0&id=30357

"SCI FI Channel has ordered a second season of its hit series Battlestar Galactica, which has aired five episodes its first season of 13 episodes. Details of the renewal—including which cast members will return, how many episodes will be produced and when the second season will commence—were still being worked out at press time.

Battlestar Galactica has been a ratings winner for SCI FI since its Jan. 14 premiere. The latest episode, Feb. 4's "You Can't Go Home Again," scored the show's best ratings yet, with 3.2 million viewers.

For the show's second season, creator and executive producer Ronald D. Moore previously told SCI FI Wire that he has already been working on as many as six new scripts to resolve the multiple cliffhangers that will end season one. Moore added that he wants to delve deeper into the show's religious themes and open up the Cylon world a bit more in the coming season. Moore continues to post his thoughts on a personal blog on SCIFI.COM. Battlestar Galactica airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, part of the channel's SCI FI Fridays lineup."
