Really? The first mis-step? I'm pretty sure that already happened in the middle of season 2.5 with the Apollo/prostitute, the pro-life/pro-choice, and the mysterious cylon blood cure episodes! Oh and the one with the hostages where Billy gets killed.

The last two weeks were kind of weak, but at this point I'm expecting the mid-season slumps. The biggest problem I see with it is that they're introducing conflicts and resolving them within 1-3 episodes, instead of letting things simmer and build tension. Seasons 1 and 2 were all about that, and its a little disappointing to see the writers running out of ideas and struggling with stuff to happen that doesn't involve cylons attacking them. That said, these last handful of episodes are WAY WAY WAY better than any of that b.s. I mentioned above from 2.5.

And its still one of the best shows out there!

The new time change is EXCELLENT. Friday nights are so f-ing hard to watch for me and my friend who actually has sci-fi. Hopefully there won't be a conflict with Sopranos and we can watch them back-to-back.

Ahhh, GOD. I forgot about the prostitute one. I stand corrected there. LOL.

The cylon blood-cure I did not think was too outrageous, and could be seen coming I think. Ron Moore is from the Star Trek spin-off school, after all, where they converted kitchen utensils into shuttlecraft on a weekly basis.

I still think this is one of the most fun shows on television (although I don't watch a whole lot) and probably one of the best science fiction shows ever created.

There are some points that I wish they would improve upon... spending a season and a half to create a particular situation (that being two battlestars, people colonizing a planet, and the occupation by the cylons), then spending the next season undoing all of the developments that occurred in that past season and a half (destroying the Pegasus, rescuing people from New Caprica, the relationships that happened on NC falling apart, etc) for what amounts to killing off the Colonel's wife just feels tough to swallow. Why didn't they just keep the Pegasus and its crew around? The conflicts with the Admiral could have gone on for at least half of the season, instead of 2 or 3 episodes. Then they kill off the next two captains of Pegasus in one episode each just to put Lee in command for 5 more, after which he's back to KAG again. It makes you go WTF sometimes.

Its also hard to recover from giving people the best moment of a season within the first two episodes ("the maneuver" being this season's definite mind-blowing moment).

I definitely believe that this is the best show on tv, even at it's few low points. The only thing in the same league, IMO is Lost when it's "on", meaning when it's at the level of quality it has been known for, not these last few eps.

yeah last weeks ep was rather dry, it seems like they are just trying to fill time though. I think the next big story line will be finding an earth out post but they cant just jump from NC to hey there is an earth out post, it takes them time to travel through space, and i think that RM is trying to portray that long time with these filler, selfcontained episodes. know what i mean.

Great ep this week.

**SPOILERS FOR THE EYE OF JUPITER**

It will be interesting to see the dynamic between Lucy Lawless/Baltar vs Number 6 "Caprica" in the coming episodes. Will she still be inside his head? Or will she leave him?

Also, the results of Sharon's discovery about Hera still being alive will be fun to watch. Will she ram face-first into a glass wall again? That was a riot.

Incidentally, Number 6 "Caprica" will be appearing in Playboy next month...for those who only read the articles.

No joke. My brother laughed himself silly watching her run into the wall and go crazy. Good times.

Indeed. I would pull up a chair, order a pizza, and pop a brew while I watched that going on. Like when someone holds their breath. It's like, go ahead, you'll pass out eventually.

Awesome episode!!! Finally watched it last night. Is it me or is Starbuck the most unlikeable character on this show? She was great in the first season, but she's just become so foul a person in this season.

I wonder where the Hera thing will go. I always thought that keeping Boomer (Athena) on board would cause problems one day.

Such a cliffhanger too!!! Not too hot about the show moving to Sunday nights though, but that's not a big deal!!!

And YES, I will be checking out PB next month!!! Gotta see Caprica 6 in all her glory. Hard to believe she's married to John Crichton from Farscape!!! Lucky bastard!!! Got to make out with Claudia Black and then go home to that!!! ARGH!!! There is no justice!!!

Don't want to post spoliers (hence the crypticity) - but it was very interesting to watch a certain Cylon realise who some of the other cylon models were...

anyway, I'm off to listen to some Jimi, and then download the episode podcast

I don't think it's official yet, but I've heard it from more than one place, which at least makes it plausible, especially if the Caprica series is still in the works.

I believe Moore will have to proceed as though it's the last one of the series. Wrap up those loose ends. I don't want to be left hanging after all this.

^ I really hope that RDM will get the chance to wrap up the series properly - if it is indeed the end. I'll have to track down the interview - but RDM said he thought the Caprica series was 'no longer moving forward' in relation to it going ahead, and IIRC spoke about it in the past tense (a shame).

What did you think of the final episode? It certainly opens the stroy up for more possibilities...

Even more unbelievable than last year's cliffhanger with being marooned on New Caprica. Wonderfully entertaining.

It seems they're leading that way. Someone at another forum I pop in on suggested that perhaps *everyone* was Cylons and that the Earth tribe had created the first Cylons and they rebelled but forgot what they were and then THEY created the second generation which is the story we've been watching. I dunno but it seems like a cool but far-reaching idea.

I hope that if in fact that IS Earth that it will be far in our future after some sort of world destruction or another and that the humans and Cylons all come together for whatever purpose the creators intend.

We'll see... IN 2008!!!!!!

I'm not so sure they are the Final 5.

*SPOILERS*

If you watch the last few minutes, each of them recites a line from "Along the Watchtower", by Bob Dylan/Jimmi Hendrix, which is the song that starts to play at the end. Why would they be singing lines from an earth tune if they were cylons? I was thinking that perhaps the ship is picking up signals from earth due to it's proximity, and these guys are somehow hearing it. I just wouldn't be surprised if we find out they're not the Final 5, however it would be a hell of a coup if they are.

I have heard this show was worth watching from many sources, and I had been wanting to see it for a long time. Yesterday evening I picked up the three hour miniseries and watched the first hour and a half. I really liked it. My friend has the DVDs, I think I'll borrow them and work my way through the series. What I find funny is that the original BSG was considered a bit of a rip off of Star Wars, now the two are not even comparable. Star Wars is now infantile crap, and BSG is completely serious well done show (from what I have seen). Who would have thought that would happen. Both have gone a long ways since the late seventies.

I think JediSage has hit the nail on the head - the episode was sort of reminiscent of the original BSG ep when Starbuck and Apollo left an old unsused observation deck to try and find Earth - just before hearing a radio transmission of the Apollo moonlandings come through (so they weren't faked after all ) For some reason the four people in the nBSG can hear a transmission of some kind...

They may think they are cylons at the moment - but doubt they'll be come the first few eps of the new season (far too many questions are thrown up like why Tyrol and Cally have a child (another cylon hybrid kid like Hera), Tigh fighting in wars all those years (cylons DO age), etc

Has no-one invented that time machine yet which will send us into the futre t owatch new eps of BSG ? (and pick up the lottery numbers )

Also, has anyone else noticed how similar the Starbuck thing is to the original series when Apollo and the others were "space knapped" by aliens and then they were dressed all in white, and their ships were white? It's been a long time since I've seen it so I can't offer anything other than that, but at the end when Apollo was overtaken it was VERY similar, right down to the bright lights behind his viper.

^ ah, the infamous 'Ship Of Lights' and Count Iblis - I remember it being a cool epsiode back in the day - and definatley some similariites and homages going on there from RDM

IIRC Count Iblis was played by Patrick MacNee - who also voiced the start credits on the the old series - "There are those who believe... that life here... began out there. Far across the universe. With tribes of humans... who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians... or the Toltecs... or the Mayans... that they may have been the architects of the Great Pyramids... or the lost civilizations of Lemuria... or Atlantis... Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man... who even now fight to survive... somewhere beyond the heavens." - as a kid I thought HE was the Imperious Leader the cylons were always on about...
