SkyOne dropped the series though, I dunno why they would play it on their channel after that.

i dont think skyone dropped the series, its going to be shown by them in england in november. from the begining BSG was a joint project between skyone and the space channel.

I have mixed feelings about the new BSG. I like the action parts and all, but I wish the camara would stop shaking for at lease a few mins. a bit too mush like a "Home Movie" or "Live Shot". IMHO the Talking shots should be with a locked down Camara.

«a bit off topic» I also miss "Farscape" liked that show on SFC.

its funny cause your complaint is one of the things i loved about BSG. the camera is actually there. when a ship goes by it shakes, when something is far away it has to zoom then focus, it gives the shot a much more realistic feel.

From digital bits website:-

"We've just heard from our sources that Universal is going to be announcing the release of Battlestar Galactica: The Complete First Season very soon. This is Ron Moore's new SciFi Channel version, FYI, which is already available on DVD in the U.K. (the series' second season debuts here in the States on The SciFi Channel on 7/15, followed by the U.K. debut in October on Sky One). We'll post all the official details as soon as they're available. Rest assured you won't have long to wait."

Here's news on the S1 release here in the States. From TVshowsonDVD.com...

Battlestar Galactica - Best Buy Exclusive - Date Within - **Updated**

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has joined Fox and Warner Bros in offering Best Buy a title before other retailers. Battlestar Galactica: Season 1 will appear in Best Buy stores on July 26, and sell for $69.99. Best Buy has listed it as "Battlestar Galactica (Uk Version)," which doesn't make sense; it's the entire first season of the series. It also appears that they're charging full SRP, and they'll get away with it since they don't have any competition for 2 months.

We've been told by other retailers that the regular retail release will be on September 20.

We'll try to post more information when it's available, but Best Buy exclusive titles are kept fairly quiet.

Update - Some people have suggested that Best Buy has imported the UK release. That's not the case; these are region 1 DVDs which Best Buy has for an exclusive period of time. It's possible that the "Uk Version" is in reference to the UK opening theme (which was reworked for the US), or it could simply be something Best Buy added to the listing. We'll have to wait and see when it's released, or whenever Best Buy updates their site with more information.

Was the 2nd season premiere on a par with the episodes from last season?

One word: AWESOME!

oojason-

Yes, the premiere of season two flows seamlessly with the first season. I wouldn't say too much new is revealed (which there'll be plenty of time for!) but the story goes logically where is should- considering that all hell broke loose at the end of the first season.

Rowsing good adventure and primo acting all around! I look forward to much much more in the future.

I am disappointed to see that the colonial fleet has adopted the Independence Day practice of recruiting barely functional alcoholics for important positions in it's heirarchy. Give me a break.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't see it quite like that. ID4 had a drunk Nam vet who pitched in when there wasn't any other help (essentially); good or bad it made some sense within the context of the movie.

The BSG premiere though showed, through not the best use of 'young age' makeup, a wartime friendship that took two different directions. While basic soldiers the two were best buds, one optimistic and one not so much so. Some time later Adama, the optimist, reached his goals while his friend had dropped out (or been run out) of the service due to his alcoholism and mental breakdown. When re-instated by Adama, what *I* took out of it was that Adama, despite the possibly better judgment of everyone else, decided that his friend had something worthwhile and despite the odds he wanted to save him from himself. And by that time of the series (the flashback) the Cylon threat was a thing of the past and the army was moving towards being disbanded basically.
