I personally enjoyed the preview. It sure looks Kelvin-y though. Even the flares are getting cameos here. I don’t mind considering it a separate canon from the rest of the universe if necessary. Like DE said, as long as it captures the spirit of Trek, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.

I was watching clips on youtube of the episodes of Ds9 that take place in the mirror universe. In “Through The Looking Glass”, Sisko-prime takes the place of Sisko-mirror who had died. Apparently, there had been romance going on between Sisko-mirror and Jadzia-mirror. In one scene Sisko-prime pretending to be Sisko-mirror, starts kissing Jadzia-mirror and then the scene fades to black. In “Shattered Mirror”, Sisko-prime returns to the mirror universe. When Jadzia-mirror first sees Sisko-prime in that episode, she slaps hims and says “that’s for making love to me under false pretenses”. If “making love” means having sex, doesn’t this mean that Sisko-prime is technically guilty of rape? Jadzia-mirror thought she was having relations with Sisko-mirror, not Sisko-mirror? Isn’t having sex with someone when they think you are someone else, technically rape?

(I wasn’t sure where to put this so, depending on how this goes, we might have to move the conversation out of this thread and into the politics thread. We shall see.)

The DS9 Mirror episodes can jump off a cliff. All of them.

In one, Sisko’s dead wife-mirror is just THERE at the beginning of the episode, and Sisko introduces her to his son without warning that there was even such a thing as a Mirror universe. And no one thinks its weird that we’re letting people from the EVIL UNIVERSE just show up whenever they want. Until she kidnaps someone or something.

No love for the Intendant? 😉

Come on, it was fun seeing Kira’s evil, horny, possibly lesbian side.

I do enjoy watching actors have fun with evil versions of their characters, but they went to that well a few too many times.

Besides, it’s a little off-putting that they only bi-sexual character in Star Trek is from the Evil Universe.

Yep. DS9’s first Mirror Universe episode should’ve been its only one.

Wasn’t Jadzia Dax implied to be bisexual?

An occasional one off like Enterprise did would have been fun, but yeah, when even the Ferengi can go there, they need to put a padlock on that thing, or have Q show up and say Enough already! 😉

Dax was, but Jadzia? not sure.

I must be one of the few Trek fans who doesn’t absolutely loathe the TMP uniforms.

I don’t hate them. They just seemed drab coming after the colorful TOS costumes. I think if they had kept the color schemes of TOS, they would have been better received. I appreciated Pike’s TMP esque uniform at the end of Trek '09 though.

I’ve never been terribly fond of the movie uniforms from TWOK onward as they’re all the same color. And TNG established them existing well into Picard’s time. Yes, I know it was cheaper to use all those leftover movie uniforms.

I like the TWOK+ uniforms, but with all their bells and whistles, they do look more like dress uniforms than something an officer would regularly wear.

I don’t hate them either, although I don’t particularly like seeing Stephen Collins’ cock bulge either.

“Trials and Tribble-ations” only flaw: That the writers felt they had to draw attention to the difference between TOS-style Klingons and TMP+ Klingons instead of just chalking it up to artistic license.

I felt they handled it as flawlessly as possible, and in a way that was both humorous and made sense. It was Enterprise that got it wrong.

I enjoyed the explanation in The Star Trek Encyclopedia that came out before “Trials”: that since the Klingon Empire was an empire, perhaps there were different races that dominated the empire at different points.
