Completely agree with what none says - Lucas ain't gonna be happy to find after all the work he and his company have done to find a leaked version of the film before its hit the big screen.


If he thought that we were all tossers decimating his life work then I'm not sure we'd still be posting on this great platform now - let alone going after the lads who've provided such quality version of the oot on dvdr, it's edits and classy documentaries like yours, OCP's and Daveytodds.


Hey, m8 - MagnoliaFan even got to go to the Ranch - as long as we don't profit from LFL stuff, or cross the line as those people did in releasing Ep3 before it's cinema release date, we'll all be fine.

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Entirely agree with the above (none, oojason).

Huge difference between bootlegging a pre-released film and your (and the rest of the forums') work - and the article is quite scaremongering (if its the BBC one, I haven't checked the origin).

I understand guys. I believe what we are doing here is good work and work that Lucasfilm really should be doing themselves.

I just get the thought out of my head that I could be seriously f*cked if this thing ever got back to them.

However, I will be releasing the final version within the next two weeks. Progress is slow as I am so busy elsewhere at the moment, but rest assured, it's looking great and more polished than before!

I don't sweat the legalities as I haven't made a cent on them. And I don't have copies of discs that are available commercially. And now, back to the delicious discussion of Building Empire...

Is there any suggestions for those of us here in America on how we can get a playable version of this DVD gold?

I can't download anything from torrents, and I have no way of knowing if my DVD player or my laptop can play a PAL disk, since I can't tell the difference between a computer and a hole in the ground.

I really, really want to see this but apparently I'm technologically useless. I have no problem shelling out a wee bit of $$$ for material and postage and stuff if there is some way that I can get a DVD that will play in my poor excuse for a Region 1 DVD player.

Hi, this has not been released yet but when it does it will be converted to NTSC (see quote above)

REQUEST:

I am currently going through Bulding Empire with a fine-tooth comb.

At the start I have Dennis Muren talking about the opening aerial Tauntaun shot. However the audio is cut at the end of his line:

"..is something that we've been using ever since".

It sounds more like:

"...is something that we've been using ever sin"

I have gone back to the source material - the laserdisc supplementals (that I got on DVD some years ago) and found that it too is cut/clipped in this way.

Would one of you lovely people check to see it their laserdisc supplemental Dennis Muren interview does this too. If however you have a 'cleaner' version I would be grateful if you could send it my way! (I literally only need that line, so an mp3 or wav will suffice)

The Rowman extras disc cuts the last word completely. The Dr Gonzo disc is better and you do hear the "c" in "since" but it still finishes rather abruptly.

I am unsure of any other source for these commentaries.

The most surprising thing to me is that one of those nerds was a woman! She should know better than to hang out with a circle of friends that includes a guy named "Dwight"...

Hi Jambe Davdar

I was just wondering if you know what day your planning to release this on and if it will be release on alt.binaries.starwars . I cant wait to see it, it's the only other Star Wars DVD that I want to complete my collection, except for Returning to Jedi of course, when it's completed and released. Any info would be appreciated. Keep up the amazing and impressive work.

Ok, I guess it's time for an update.

The final 'product', bar a few tweaks is currently being (or soon to be) QA'd by a friend.

After his comments (I am sure there will be some corrections to make), I will be releasing the DVD to all those that can send me an SAE (Stamped self-addressed envelope) with a good quality blank DVD-R enclosed. I will make the copy and send it back.

Obviously this will be easier for those in the UK. Perhaps someone can suggest a solution for the international peeps.

The documentary has been very much re-jigged with new clips and commentary utilised where possible. Along with some great new text facts that I have found out since the provisional release.

There is also a brand new menu - still on the same theme but enhanced somewhat. I have also integrated new graphics for the submenus with new transitions between them. There is also a disclaimer, isolated restored music sequences, alternate opening crawl (on the DVD this time rather than an AVI on in the DVD-ROM folder).

Generally I am much more pleased with the overall product. I hope you are too!

It should be done and dusted in two weeks.

I am picky. =) Esp. about my own work. It's called wanting it done right. Looking forward to this like nobody's business. Wish I could see the final version before anyone else and be your final critique guy, but I know your feelings on that ....
