‘Trump travel ban suffers new court defeat’…
And yet after who knows how many many times the courts have plainly called it out as such, the headline still refuses to call it the Muslim ban that it is. They lose in the courts, but they still control the headlines.
Apparently Trump held an amazing cabinet meeting for no other reason to stroke his wounded ego.

We’re already in a handbasket, and look where we’re heading.
A federal judge in Florida has granted bail to a self-professed neo-Nazi who was taken into custody last month by police who discovered bomb-making materials, weapons and ammo in the his Tampa apartment, reports Fox 13.
Federal Judge Thomas McCoun granted bond for 21-year-old Brandon Russell on Friday, stating there was no clear and convincing evidence “the defendant represents a threat to any person or community.”
According to the police who took Russell into custody, they discovered the weapons and materials used for making bombs in Russell’s garage and that he had a framed picture of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh on his dresser. Police also state they discovered Nazi and white supremacist literature on Russell’s computer.
Investigators report that Russell, a member of the Florida National Guard, admitted that he is a Nazi sympathizer and that he previously had created explosives.
Whether the judge’s rationale behind granting bail makes any sense at all depends on how you define the word “person”.
We’re already in a handbasket
I just heard that NBC will air Megyn Kelly interviewing Alex Jones. What the fuck?

As Fox implodes, they’re leaving behind a whole lot of viewers who like their news heavy on unsubstantiated racist conspiracy theories. Enter MSNBC, picking up the slack. When the cable news demographic skews heavily toward angry white grandpas anyway, they’re just following the money. Maybe soon we’ll have three or four cable news outlets fighting for the worst-possible-news-outlet crown! Oh, wait…
This is not a joke. Repeat, this is not a joke.
The “COVFEFE” Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) Monday, aims to preserve tweets from the president’s personal twitter account, ensuring that Trump’s social media posts are archived as presidential records.
Alex Jones is an enigma. A showman who continues to amaze me with his absurdity. His insanity is shown quite well in this supercut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d1F0mJ8QPs&t=14s
It’s only a minute or two and you will be thoroughly satisfied.
Alex Jones is an enigma.
How so?
Holy shit.
President Donald Trump could be weighing the termination of special counsel Robert Mueller from his oversight of the federal Russia investigation, Christopher Ruddy, CEO of the conservative Newsmax Media and a friend of President Trump, told PBS NewsHour’s Judy Woodruff on Monday.
Is he an idiot because it makes him look even more guilty, or brilliant because nothing he does matters?
Alex Jones is an enigma.
How so?
He is just one of the most insane people I think I might have ever seen.
I agree, but that doesn’t make him an enigma.
Is he an idiot because it makes him look even more guilty, or brilliant because nothing he does matters?
Not a brilliant guy, just a connected guy. In every sense of the phrase.
I agree, but that doesn’t make him an enigma.
I don’t think I’m quite sure what that word even means. Sounded like something that would fit the bill but I guess not LOL.
This seems like a bad look.

President Trump appears to have blocked a veterans group that has been critical of his time in office on Twitter.
“The Commander in Chief can block @VoteVets, the voice of 500k military veterans and families, but we will NOT be silenced,” VoteVets.org wrote on Twitter, including a screenshot that shows Trump had blocked the organization’s account.
The group has in the past criticized the president over his budget proposal, Republican attempts to repeal and replace ObamaCare and the president’s executive order temporarily barring individuals from certain predominantly Muslim nations from entering the United States.

Reporters on Capitol Hill are facing alarming new restrictions when trying to interview senators, journalists from multiple media outlets said Tuesday.
NBC News reporter Kasie Hunt tweeted that “reporters at Capitol have been told they are not allow [sic] to film interviews with senators in hallways.”
Bloomberg News’ Kevin Cirilli tweeted that he was told he couldn’t “stand outside of the Budget Committee hearing room to interview lawmakers.”
Reporters have traditionally been able to wait outside meetings and hearings and approach senators with question as they come and go. But now reporters are being told they need permission from the specific senator and the Senate Rules Committee.
When your policies are terrible, it’s much easier to hide from questions than to come up with better policies.

Well that didn’t last long.

Simply not answering any questions from reporters achieves the same thing, without the nasty PR of officially restricting access. Even better, they could still answer questions, but only from friendly outlets like Breitbart and the National Enquirer. Sorry, only have so much time for questions, guys! Maybe you’ll get your chance next time! *snicker*
How low have we fallen when USA Effing Today has an investigative reporting scoop?
Over the last 12 months, about 70% of buyers of Trump properties were limited liability companies – corporate entities that allow people to purchase property without revealing all of the owners’ names. That compares with about 4% of buyers in the two years before.
Because simply staying at one of his hotels doesn’t shift quite enough of your cash into his pockets to get real leverage, and sometimes paper trails can be such a hassle.
Wonder which paper won’t be found in Trump hotels real soon now? That is, assuming it hadn’t already been replaced with the print edition of InfoWars.
Sad to have to say this again, but I hope all our UK members are safe and sound.
Hard to believe such a thing could happen in a building in a modern city.

Horrific, mate.
Fair play to all those offering spare rooms, clothes, food and toiletries in and around the nearby area to the Grenfell Block residents.
And to the emergency services too.

According to fleeing residents there was no building-wide alarm heard, no sprinklers, and a ‘stay put’ fire advice strategy in place.
Seems to be a lot of people missing/unaccounted for - unfortunately as the fire started just after 1am, many may have been asleep - I really hope not, though. Hopefully many escaped and are ‘just’ in shock or with friends/family etc.

A gunman opened fire Wednesday morning on a baseball practice at a park in Alexandria involving Republican members of Congress, injuring several people including at least one lawmaker, Steve Scalise, the majority whip, according to police and a congressman.
The wounded also included at least one Capitol police officer and the suspected shooter, according to one law enforcement official and witness accounts. Alexandria Police Chief Michael Brown said two of his officers engaged in “gunfire and return fire.”
