The Star Wars Saga DVD Collection - 12 disks containing both George Lucas' final and definitive vision of the saga as well as the original theatrical versions of each of the films. Included are extras spanning the entire 30 years of Star Wars as well as new documentaries and archival material. Specifics are broken down as such:
Disk 1 thru 6 are the new Special Editions of each film. Lucas will undoubtedly do more work on the prequels as well as continue to fine tune the original trilogy. The guy just doesn't know when to quit. Stringent perfectionism = obsessive compulsive disorder...methinks anyway.
Disk 1 - Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - Special Edition
This is Lucas' newly reworked and expanded version of Episode 1. All the usual audio and chapter features are included as well as several new commentaries (one with cast, one with special effects and one with Lucas and John Williams).
Disk 2 - Episode 2: Attack Of The Clones - Special Edition
This is Lucas' newly reworked and expanded version of Episode 2. All the usual audio and chapter features are included as well as several new commentaries (one with cast, one with special effects and one with Lucas and John Williams).
Disk 3 - Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith - Special Edition
This is Lucas' newly reworked and expanded version of Episode 3. All the usual audio and chapter features are included as well as several new commentaries (one with cast, one with special effects and one with Lucas and John Williams).
Disk 4 - Episode 4: A New Hope - Special Edition
This is Lucas' newly reworked and expanded version of Episode 4. All the usual audio and chapter features are included as well as several new commentaries (one with cast, one with special effects and one with Lucas and John Williams).
Disk 5 - Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back - Special Edition
This is Lucas' newly reworked and expanded version of Episode 5. All the usual audio and chapter features are included as well as several new commentaries (one with cast, one with special effects and one with Lucas and John Williams).
Disk 6 - Episode 6: Return Of The Jedi - Special Edition
This is Lucas' newly reworked and expanded version of Episode 6. All the usual audio and chapter features are included as well as several new commentaries (one with cast, one with special effects and one with Lucas and John Williams).
Disk 7 thru 9 are the double sided disks which would enable them to put one whole movie on each side. This would be perfect for the original theatrical versions of each film.
Disk 7 Side 1 - Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - Original Theatrical Version
Disk 7 Side 2 - Episode 2: Attack Of The Clones - Original Theatrical Version
Disk 8 Side 1 - Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith - Original Theatrical Version
Disk 8 Side 2 - Episode 4: A New Hope - Original Theatrical Version
Disk 9 Side 1 - Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back - Original Theatrical Version
Disk 9 Side 2 - Episode 6: Return Of The Jedi - Original Theatrical Version
Disk 10 thru 12 are also double sided disks where they could put a whole side of bonus features for each film.
Disk 10 Side 1 - Episode 1 Bonus Features - this would be the features that are already available in the current DVD release of Episode 1.
Disk 10 Side 2 - Episode 2 Bonus Features - this would be the features that are already available in the current DVD release of Episode 2.
Disk 11 Side 1 - Episode 3 Bonus Features - this would be the features that will be available in the soon-to-be DVD release of Episode 3.
Disk 11 Side 2 - Episode 4 Bonus Features
Disk 12 Side 1 - Episode 5 Bonus Features
Disk 12 Side 2 - Episode 6 Bonus Features
The bonus features on Episodes 4-6 should include:
From Star Wars To Jedi: The Making Of A Saga documentary
Empire Of Dreams documentary - however, they should expand the thing to 6 hours and cut it into 2 hour parts for each of the OT bonus disks. This documentary was great...I want to see more added and more focus on each film separately.
Trailers - get all the teasers, full trailers and re-release trailers for the OT.
Bloopers - do blooper reels from wach film and make them Easter Eggs like in the prequel bonus disks.
Any vintage documentaries and interviews with cast and crew made during the making of the OT.
Star Wars Merchandise Photo Archive - a full photo archive of all the Star Wars products that were released between 1977 and 1985.
Original Star Wars Kenner Toys TV Commercials - I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to see these again!!!!
The Star Wars Holiday Special - the full uneditied 2 hour special without commercials....I know.....fat chance on this one....but this is a dream set, ppl.
Holiday Special documentary - if by chance someone at Lucasfilm does see this and decides that I have a great idea here and puts the Holiday Special in this dream set, then they should do a short 15 or 20 minute documentary on it....just for laughs. Actually, seeing Lucas cringe just talking about it would be worth it.....or just him saying, "What the hell was I thinking?!??!!?"
I think that just about wraps it up, people. Opinions? Comments? Brainfarts?
