What 'a Star Wars Story' / anthology / spinoff film would you like to see? — Page 5

Somebody wanted a Star Wars anime crossover.

I wouldn’t call it that. I wanted a Star Wars series made in the anime style. Your post made it seem like I wanted the Star Wars and Naruto universes to clash. Just imagine how God awful that would be.

The more that I think about, the more I start to like it. Everybody but Frink and Tyr. would like it. (Assuming it was objectively good, however)

Of course. Story and characters come first and the visual style and animation are merely an afterthought. I think all of use would prefer it to be in the anime style rather than the CGI bleh we have been forced to gawk at as of late.

Off topic. *obligatory series of insults and gifs

This is actually off topic though(unlike what I did), so shut the hell up.

Why even post about anime in a thread about anthology/spinoff films? Read the fucking title.

What thread do you even think you are in?

The initial split between the Jedi and Sith.

I’m surprised the new Canon hasn’t even touched The Old Republic Era. If it were up to me I would just reincorporate the Jedi and Sith origins from the EU

And not done in that annoying Sailor Moon/Pokemon/whateverthebigeyedovertlycartoonishstyleiscalled style.

Considering Lucasfilm and Disney are American companies (don’t quote me; I don’t know shit about that), I would think a Star Wars anime would only be animated by a Japanese company or just try to mimick anime’s style like the Avatar series. When every character has a small head and big eyes, it gets annoying, but it’s not so bad when there is more character diversity (any good anime should have that; gotta bring up Fullmetal Alchemist again though it does have some annoying designs like the 2003 Wrath).

Probably mentioned elsewhere, but it’s been brought up several times that it’s not realistic that the Empire would immediately fall apart following the Battle of Endor. It would be interesting to see the decline of the Empire/rise of the New Republic on film. Perhaps the seeds of the First Order could even be inferred. I’m not sure which characters I would suggest following in such an anthology movie, but I think a single movie could capture all the important points related such events, and could still present an interesting story for whatever characters become the focus of the tale.

TIE Fighter - A Star Wars Story

I would like a movie similar to the video game Republic Commando. Although video game adaptations are usually terrible and Rogue One sort of scratches that itch, but it would be pretty neat to follow a group of soldiers or rebels through their tours.

Ewan McGregor once again expresses interest in Star Wars return as Obi-Wan Kenobi:-

edit - forgot to say I don’t think some of the possible ‘bigger’ Star Wars Stories will happen until after Episode IX has wrapped - just a feeling that Disney will keep them back until after the Sequel Trilogy has finished. Ideas like a Jedi Purge movie, or an Obi Wan film, or Dexter Jettster - The Kitchen Years, to keep them back for a few $$$s more and use the ‘smaller’ ideas until then… it’s just a feeling - and will be very happy if stuff like this is announced before then 😃

The Jedi Must Die
The story is, in essence, a conflation of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None (aka, Ten Little Indians) and Richard Connell’s The Most Dangerous Game, with elements of the Star Wars mythos stirred in for good measure.

It revolves around the search for a Jedi on a far off planet by a group of serious minded people out to find it. The viewer is invited to unfold the mystery along with the characters. Near the ending, there an inserted 30-second break called “The Jedi Break”, where the audience is asked to guess the Jedi’s identity, based on clues from the movie.

A few months ago I was talking about this at a bar with some friends, and we decided we’d like to see a Heart of Darkness riff about the droid who DID impersonate a deity, because there must have been one somewhere along the line if C-3PO’s programming specifically forbids it.

A slight tweak here and there and we could have ‘Cabot Cove - a Jedi Mystery’ with serial killer Jessica Fletcher, her typewriter, and set in a place that is strong with the Dark Side of The Force… 😃

Honestly, it’s difficult to imagine too many anthology films I would love to see. Perhaps a Boba Fett film directed by Quentin Tarantino in which he hunts down an aged Mace Windu (who somehow survived his fall in ROTS)? I mean I didn’t exactly care for Mace Windu’s character, but with better script and direction from Tarantino of all people, Sam Jackson could make it work.

I really hope they don’t do this.

I’m still waiting for a Lovecraftian horror story set in the galaxy far, far away.

I would like to see McGregor return as Obi-Wan but I just don’t see how that film (or films since there have been rumors of a trilogy) would work. It would be very difficult to build a film around a character can’t be recognized or known by anyone for continuity sake. A film with Obi-Wan not dressed as a Jedi would just look weird.

The one plot point that could have worked was a confrontation between he and Maul in which Maul is living ‘outside’ the detection of the Empire as well but they just used that plot on Rebels. They could set the film during the tail-end of the Clone Wars/immediately post ROTS but I don’t know if with the current OT nostalgia that is going on that they’d want to do that. I think they’d much rather bring Ewan closer to the OT era.

Anyways, like I said…I’d love for one of the next spin-offs to be an Ewan/Obi-Wan film but I just don’t know what story could support a 2 hour film.

The Jedi are all but extinct.......

Good call - it could also lead to some sort of sequel from an opposing point of view… 😃

A galaxy with Giant Sandvaginas with Teeth and mindsucking squidoids would make this a very doable thing.

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!
