If you don’t like them you don’t have to use them. No need to be an ass when the guy was just making an effort to give to the community. Constructive criticism is one thing, being an ass is another thing. Instead of complaining, why not thank him for his effort and then mention how some of the shop work is a little obvious and should be cleaned up?

You should do some quality control before posting 50 huge images of crap. Feel free to thank him, please see all his other posts, they’re the same quality as his images.

I can give it a shot 😃 and yes, the cmyk strip should help get very close to accurate.
This is what I was able to pull out of it.
Looks nice! Could you possibly do that for the bigger version that I linked to? (Also, the top right corner is missing a tiny piece and is whiter than the rest of the poster, not sure if that might throw things off).
Yeah I’m downloading the poster file. I’ll give it a shot with the higher res version. Thank you for pointing out the slightly whiter bit in the corner, that could absolutely throw some things off, I’ll correct it and see if it changes anything.
Here’s the full sized correction. There is some weird thing going on with the magentas and I wasn’t able to fix that without introducing some weird artifacting, but I think this is fairly close.

Hey look at that. With a little work I actually was able to pull out those magentas. It did make a slight difference.
That does look better. Not sure what’s up with the logo on this one, I’m pretty sure it should look darker and more consistent in colour, like the ‘s’ at the bottom. Do you think maybe this was taken with a flash? A couple of the other examples would probably benefit from correction more than this one, but I thought the strip may make it fairly straightforward.

That Image has many Problems… I played with it my self, and the CMYK Marks are helping, but they are faded and not consistent (look at the Magenta ones at the Bottom they are much brighter than on the top) to make things worse there are a lot of JPG Artefacts in that Images…
so depending on the mark you choose to calibrate your image you will get an different result…
also there is an reflection of some sort in the lower right… thats also responsible for the color change in the Logo it self…
I suspected a reflection. If any of you guys that know your curves and whatnot are willing to take a look at the stuff I posted and correct some of the better examples that are washed out, I’m sure there would be others that would appreciate it besides me. I can give the file names of the ones that would probably benefit most, or post them separately. If anyone has missing or better quality poster images I urge you to share!
BTW, does anyone know who made the textless versions of the Japanese DVD covers?

I don’t think they have been officialy released without the text, but some skilled guy could remove the text.

I actually don’t mind the 2006 DVD covers. Not my favorite by any means but I like how they tried to recreate the poster designs with live action photos. They’re not great, but to me they’re acceptable. A huge step above the 2004 covers for sure.
