'Star Wars' Actors Reunited
Actors Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor have teamed up with other stars of all six Star Wars movies for a new Vanity Fair photo spread. The American magazine grouped together 22 major performers in the legendary franchise, inviting cast members from the original 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope to this year's final installment Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith. Mastermind George Lucas, who directed four of the intergalactic movies, joined Ford, Fisher, Portman and McGregor as well as original Luke Skywalker star Mark Hamill, Samuel L. Jackson, Liam Neeson and Hayden Christensen. Robots R2-D2 and C3PO also joined their human co-stars for the reunion shoot. Lucas admits the final part of the opening trilogy marks the end of an era in his career - and he now plans to stop making successful films. He says, "I'm going to make movies nobody wants to see. I've earned the right to fail."

He's "earned the right to fail"?!? In my mind, he did that when he bailed on the O-OT. Just MHO, of course.

Can't wait to see Vanity Fair. That should be cool.

They've got the shot on the offical site. It would be nice as a wallpaper, but I don't think the marketing machine has figured that one out.

Here it is (thanks for the tip)...

Okay, here's who I have ID'd (left to right starting at Ewan, seated)... Ewan McGregor, Hayden, George, Natalie, Yoda, Darth, R2, 3PO, Samuel, Jar Jar, Jimmy Smits, Christopher Lee, Liam, dunno (woman seated), dunno (guy in white T-shirt.. Jake Lloyd, maybe?), Ian McDiarmid, Grievous, Billy Dee Williams (where's the Colt .45?), Carrie, Harrison, Chewie, and Mark.

Is the seated woman in the middle the one that plays Shmi Skywalker?

Okay, stupid questions. The site lists that it is Jake Lloyd and Pernilla August. Way to pay attention, Bossk.

Smits was in L.A. Law and NYPD Blue and is playing Senator Bail Organa in the SW PT. He had a cameo in AOTC and has a much bigger part in ROTS.

I saw the pcture in a British newspaper that said that the photo is actually digitally created and the actors didn't all get together in one studio. Typically Lucas, don't you think? I'm surprised they didn't superimpose Alec Guinness in there two. And doesn't Jake Llyod look pissed - 'I could have played Anakin in Episode 2 and 3...F*cking Hayden Christensen...'

would make sense, how else would Lucas get Portman to put her arm around him

but was it maybe just refering to the digital addition of Grevious, Jar-Jar, and Yoda to the photo? Maybe even Chewie, Vader, and the Droids? though those are probably just empty costumes.

They need to replace the bluescreen with something before it would be a suitable wallpaper.

Here I thought Jake Lloyd was thinking, "yeah, I'm the next Jack Black."

The actors did get together from what I've heard. As were the 3PO and R2 costumes. Some of the others may have been digitally inserted like Jar Jar and Grievous.

The thing I noticed that I found funny was that you see the OT characters congregate at the end opposite GL. While GL populates his immediate vicinity with PT characters and OT characters that cannot talk back (puppets, costumes, etc.). Think this is any show of animosity between GL and his OT cast?

Hmm, I would have like to see them all intermingled instead of all of the prequel actors on the left(huddling around lucas) and the OT on the right as well.

Take a look at Yoda propped on GL's knee. Judging by the rough edges around him, I'm thinking he was inserted as well. Something "off" about how he looks.

Surprised that GL didn't super-impose Sir Alec Guiness in there - Jedi spirit blue around him 'n all...

No, I was talking about Yoda. It seriously could have been a prop sitting on his knee. Just like those are prop versions of R2, 3PO and Vader.

No James Earl Jones?

And yes, Billy Dee needs his Colt .45.

Thanks for the pic Kevin A (aka Bossk).

They should have had Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Dave Prowse and Peter Mayhew wearing their respective suits and holding the heads, and it would have been cool to have Prowse, Christensen and Earl Jones all standing together. It's not cool that he didn't include those guys - Anthony Daniels has made a huge contribution to the series as opposed to Jake Llyod (he deserves to be there too though).

Yeah, not having James is a bit of blasphemy as he's the one, in my mind, truly responsible for making Vader the greatest cinematic villain of all time. Without the voice, Vader is just a big guy in a black costume. JEJ added the "umph" behind his appearance.

I had actually wondered what it would be like to have all the costume characters sitting there with the helmets/masks in their hands. But I think that would work best as a supplemental photo. Have this one and then a second one with their masks off. If you just have it with masks off, some people would gripe that they want it the other way. So just make both happy.

I wish both Alec Guinness and Peter Cushing were alive for this shoot.

I think that since none of the other actors are in character, it was most unfortunate to leave Daniels, Baker, Prowse, Mayhew, Jones and Oz out of the picture. Also, I question where Temura Morrison or Jeremy Bulloch, or the Boba Fett costume is. For all the coolness of this picture, there are some curious omissions like that.

Now what would be REALLY cool? This entire group of people sitting down together in one room to watch all six films, and letting THAT be a commentary track for each DVD.

I'd enjoy that. That might make an LFL official DVD set worthwhile.

But they would be talking at the same time? You wouldn't be able to hear a thing...

I agree with you guys, that pic needed more people. In fact, they have to take a pic featuring every single actor who had a speaking line (and yes, plus David Prowse ) on all the 6 films, except those who passed away of course. Imagine what a great poster that would be!
