We had a short discussion thread about KotOR1 a while back. On the occassion that Part 2 goes gold, I thought I'd start a thread about it. See what you guys think about what you've heard of the game so far.

Well...for one thing...

ITS GOING TO KICK ASS!

Very funny, Chaltab...

I can't wait! Of course, I'm waiting for the PC version, so my wait's a bit longer (but I still have plenty to do in the first one, so I think the wait will be liveable).

Favourite characters, anyone? Mine's Bastila, closely followed by Canderous, because he's saved my party's ass so many times.

Whether Revan was good or evil is a question you're actually asked at the beginning of the game. I suppose the game reading one of you're KoToR save files would be to much trouble for the programmers.

My favorite character would have been Mission--because Twi'lek females and the color blue both rule. Too bad she was such a lame character.
As it is, I liked Bastila and Jolie Bindo. And of course 'Bob of Earth' the amnesiac Lord of the Sith.

They ask you that at the beginning of KOTOR 2?

It's a neat idea, though they should've just loaded the save file, I agree.

Damn - I wish had had an XBox (will have to put up with my Gamecube) - I take it KOTOR 1 & 2 are a little better than Jedi Outcast?

Just a little. KOTOR is on PC right now for about $20, and Sith Lords will be on PC in February, I think (though I do wish that LucasArts would release them on the other consoles).

Galahad,
Based on what I've read, when you meet your first group member, the 2 of you get in a conversation about what happened over the past few years. If you answer the questions a certain way, the game infers that you (as Revan in game 1) were light-side or dark-side, male or female.
For example, you're told that Revan disappeared. If you answer "Revan, didn't he save the Republic from Sith forces a few years ago?" You can infer that a male, light-side character was used.

Also, I just saw in today's Best Buy add, KorOR is on a 2 for $30 list of games, so you can get it cheaper than $20.

I'm disappointed by the non-simultaneous release.

However, I'm really excited about all the gameplay stuff I've heard about:
(I don't think these are spoilers...)

- Characters attitudes shift with you (you become evil, so do they)
- Each party member has some special ability (the soldier that doesn't collapse if someone else is standing, the Jedi that gives a bonus to experience gain, the bounty hunter with the wrist-rockets)
- I read something where someone said that there is a surprise in the game that rivals that of "Luke, I am your father." for its surprise value.
- Lightsaber dueling styles (some defensive, some offensive, some chaotic, at least 1 is a balance)
- no level cap
- the prestige levels
- Force Crush!!!!

My favorites would probably be HK-47 and Jolee Bindo.

Edit: I forgot whole words of my sentence.

HK-47...he's such a riot. Trying to establish a peaceable relationship with the Tuskens while using him as a translator was nearly impossible.

I got through with the first part of the peaceful negotiation and while I was heading out I opened one of the crates, they got pissed, and I ended up slaughtering their whole camp.

Lucas ought to learn somthing from these KOTOR games...

Well I've only just started playing the first game on PC right now.
I don't think it's a good idea playing while you're stoned.
Reminds me a little of SW Galaxies, which I gave up on after 2 weeks. Too much hard work. I just wanna shoot things

Is it worth playing on? I'm getting board of walking from door to door!

HK-47 fans: Rumors are abound about what the deal is with HK-47. I've heard that he isn't in, then that he is. I've seen screenshots of an HK-50 character, but to what extent he is used is unknown.
See more below.

Hotrod,
Running around is the most boring part, but it will become worth it soon enough, because that's how you get from one pocket of enemies to the next.

[spoiler]

The latest I saw was that he's on the Ebon Hawk with T3, but he's badly damaged and that you spend practically the entire game repairing him and gradually he tells you what happened during the time after KotOR.

How'd he get badly damaged?

Sounds roughly familiar...I suggested that they weren't unlike everybody else and they became pissed so I took my chance to kill them all without getting Dark Side points...and I got the Krayt dragon pearl back, which does wonders for my lightsaber. And the whole time I was killing the Tuskens, I found I kept quoting Anakin from AOTC...I even named my save file 'I hate them!'

Maybe he fell into a lava pit.

Keep playing, Hot Rod! The first six to ten hours or so aren't the best, because they're slow and you don't have a lightsaber, but there is a kick ass revelation that I probably should've expected but didn't because I got so engrossed in the storyline. Don't let Carth ruin your gaming experience, either.

What, are you Anti-Carth?

Not necessarily anti-Carth...he just frustrates the hell out of me. He carries on and on and on and the game won't give me the responses I would say to him in real life...you know, you want to make him realise that you're not going to betray him, and he says, 'Yeah, you're right,' but then goes right back into how he doesn't want to be betrayed again. It's funny, so long as you're not playing the game.

Hotrod,

It is worth playing that game solely to hear HK-47. He has some of the best lines you'll ever hear in a video game.
He's basically a psychiotic protocol/assassin droid.

PC: Why do you call me meatbag?
HK-47: It's just that you have all these squishy parts, master. How the constant sloshing doesn't drive you mad, I don't know.
PC: On second thought, neither do I...

After hearing incomprehendable Jawa speak
PC: HK-47, can you help me out here?
HK-47: Translation - 98% probability that the members of the miniature organics tribe are being held by sand people, doubtless he wishes assistance.
PC: What about the other 2%?
HK-47: Translation - 2% probability that the miniature organic is simply looking for trouble and needs to be blasted. That may be wishful thinking on my part though, master.

"Damn it master, I'm an assassination droid, not a dictionary."

HK-47: Suggestion: Perhaps we should blast him now and save us some time, eh, Master?
Tanis: What's with all the droids lately? My wife get to you?
HK-47: Statement: No, I just hate ALL meatbags. Except for the master of course....yes

IMHO KOTOR is more Star Warsy, than the prequels.

Lucas should learn how things, like character development, and plot twists improve a story. And how the lack of them(the prequels) ruin a story.

It's hard to twist a plot that we allready know, though.

But I agree that KoToR does seem more like Starwars in several ways than the prequels. (Jump to lightspeed through the cockpit!!)

LOL, I don't remember that one.
Actually, I didn't find that one in the game either, but I did find a method of sorting through the thousands of audio files that get installed, and I found it that way.
