What do you guys think is (or will be) the best transfer to DVD format?

On a long enough time-line, the survival rate of everyone drops to zero...

I'm holding out for a Magnoliafan, Rikter, and MeBeJedi DVD restoration involving the official DVDs.

Then when Mike presents the screen grabs from his version, I will more than likely declare his the best.

If you are talking about LD transfers, then I don't think any will be better than the others...just diffrent. Colors will vary, sharpness and the such will all be diffrent from one version to the next.
The Jedi are all but extinct.......

My money's on Laserman! Being a fellow Aussie he's obviously the most intelligent of the bootleggers, which will give him that extra edge.

That's a harsh way to put it..........

I would say that LASERMAN has the GREATEST skills...... but do forget that he has been helping EVERYONE doing the transfers.

Even the student can surpass the master.

The truth is different people with find all the versions different - there will NOT be ONE set that will please EVERYONE - Just look at how bad the official disc failed.

Hehehe Thanks for the vote
I am sure that anyone could make a better version than mine if they put the time and effort in. I only have the advantage of a few rooms full of high end gear to play with, but so many good tools are available for the lowly PC that you can really get good results if you do the groundwork and approach it like a pro.

I am in two minds as to whether to bother releasing the straight 'archive' of the laserdisc or to wait until I have finished the 'reconstruction' project...

The LD 'archive' version is almost done. I am doing a stabilisation pass to get rid of some of the gate wobble that is so evident in these transfers. Either the cine suite or original cameras (or both) certainly wasn't pin registered!
That will make any further restoration a whole lot easier.

Most excellent, in that case I expect to be seeing this archival version. It sounds most excellent.

How about putting an Aussie song as an easter-egg on each one? And you must have Men At Work's - Down Under...

^ No Angry Anderson stuff please.

I'm only just recovering from my nightmares of 1. his 'Suddenly song. 2. watching 'Neighbours' (erm... the missus makes me watch it)

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…
