I think Mr. Zion should add dancing midgets to his new movie set, and maybe some cool sound effects too.

Well, LucasFilm and all its "sub"-companies do appear to all act the same when it comes to their fanbase... never a "nice work, people!", always a "please don't!". I run a site named LucasArts Soundtracks, and although their decision (as seen on the main page) was quite reasonable, their mails contained no praise or "thank you" in any way, it's just a dry "You're not supposed to...".

^ that sucks m8

I wish I'd known about your site sooner - did you have the differing versions of the sountracks available to listen to, or was it just information on them?

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

The site got all the complete soundtracks for download... but don't let us discuss that in this thread.

I got an email from LFL a few days ago. Of course something along those lines popped into my head when I first saw it in my inbox, but unfortunately the email didn't have anything to do with OOT restoration.

I guess I had some pics on my site that were in violation of their Hyperspace/Insider copyright policy.

What do you have that's in breach of the policy?

I like it (but obviously it needs to go longer). The video in the background makes it feel "genuine" almost. Btw, how far are you completed with your project do you think?

Oh, the menu will be about 20-30 seconds long. That's just the very beginning. The background video is choppy because it came from a 25fps source (XviD), but it'll do as a placeholder until I put the real video in.

How far am I with my project? I'll be burning a test DVD of ANH (no menus, not the full movie) this week to try out on a few systems, and submit to a few people for review.

My biggest problem right now is that I only have about 60-70GB of available HD space. I'm in dire need of one of those new-fangled 250GB SATA drives. If anyone knows of any good deals out there, let me know.

Newegg usually has pretty good deals and they have a pretty nice selection of size and manufacturer

also can check out Pricewatch didnt link to anything specific there 'cause i know some people perfer to order from stores they know. But lowest price I saw for a 250 gig sata drive was 130ish

also this is another place a friend of mine uses and said the prices are pretty good

Aaaarrrrggghhhh!!!! The anticipation is a killer.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, stellar effort.

You're spending more time on this than Lucas allowed Lowrey to work on the restoration of the N-"OT" DVDs.

Probably more money too, certainly more percentage-wise, (unless you're a reclusive billionaire, you're not are you?)

I can't wait, but I will.

Oh my! That looks so professional. Lucasfilm should hire U!

Something that dissapointed me on the DVD releases was the logo that had footage within the letters like the sticker sets from when I was a kid. The letters A & R in Star are not connected so it would be optimum if the footage within them was not from the same frame. The same with the W & A in Wars.

I noticed that U did the same on your first title preview. This is a good opurtunity 4 U 2 supercede what they have done for the official DVDs. Y don't U try having seperate images in those letters.

Thanks for the heads up Simon. I'll have to keep an eye out for any sales. I'd really like to get a SATA 250GB drive to compliment my RAID 0 setup. It would make a world of difference as it would allow me to keep the original captures in case I need to revert back to them. As it stands right now, I only have enough HD space to capture one side at a time.

Thanks for your compliments guys. I'm trying to make this set look as professional as possible. If nothing else, just to see if I can fool anyone into thinking that these are official.

Go to Fry's Outpost online. You can find a retail Maxtor IDE 250gb drive for $110 right now w $5 shipping (so $115 total about). Hell of a deal. I'm not sure if I can post a link to the product, but checkout dealnews.com they have it off their homepage.

EDIT: Not sure of any Sata deals going on, but that drive is still a great deal. Bought one a while back from staples.

actually, this is the only thing I've noticed..

...the logo doesn't look quite right. Did you re-create it or something? The angles on some of the letters seem a bit too sharp, and the length of some of the letters seem a bit too short.

The video starts with a brief glimpse of a star destroyer. Is that supposed to be there?
Author

Yes. It's the Executor, Vader's ship.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Yes, it is supposed to be there. On the clip I cut off the opening part, which shows the star wars logo fading to black, then panning over to the executor. Download and watch the other clip I have posted on my web site to see the whole thing.

On that note, I'm starting on the other parts of the menu right now. The options menu is vader turning around to view the screen behind him.

Hmmm... wonder what I should put on the screen...
