"Die, Jedi scum!" - SW Episode II

Nah, I meant just generally improving the yellow effect. You answered my question.
I like the yellow saber. The whole rouge-jedi idea is much more entertaining than the Sith. Less cliche.

Improve the yellow sabre effect? I thought it was a top piece of editing - though if Magnolia can do better...

Very much looking forward to the TCW2.0

Man, I'd just cut that sequence completely...

Just cut a hole in that piece of dialogue, just make him shoot and not say anything. This works for pretty much the entire 3PO/Geonosis battle. It works ALOT better.

I saw Attack of the Clones in theatres twice. If I remember correctly, it has allways been "dogs"

Although chainging it to "scum would be great. Maybe you should use the word "sucm" from return of the Jedi, since Threpioo can modulate hi voice.

I got a Chinese bootleg of AOTC a few months after it came out on a region coded DVD. The quality was pretty good (DVD quality I'm pretty sure) and I definitely don't remember the "I'm a Jedi, I know I'm better than this!" thing, so I'll try and pick it up in a week or so.

That wasn't in the theatrical release, but was added for the official DVD release.

Magnolia, did you give any thought into reinserting the dialogue from the trailer of "I've heard this lesson before Master," "Yes, but you haven't learned anything"?

I just wondered, cause I punched it up on Adobe Premiere and it turned out pretty good. You have to extend the speed of the clip alittle bit so that it isn't quick cuts, but laying the tram passing by soundeffect overtop what residual music is left makes it seem like it fits right back into the film.

Anyways, can't wait to see the new version. Any chance you will give us a list of what is new?

Wow, I didn't know it was dogs. I swore in the theatres, I saw it 3 times, that it said scum. Then I read this post and saw that it was dogs. So I just put the dvd in and it's weird sounding, like it was changed from the original wording. I hope you can find it. I'd love to hear that even though I swore it said scum when I went all three times.

I believe I may still have my AC3 re-encode audio files with the change. If you want me to email it to you, give me a PM.

MagnoliaFan,

There's a 2.0 of TCW forthcoming? Bitchin'!!! My wife and I were watching this today for the first time and totally dig what you've done with it. Haven't finished yet, but as soon as the kid is asleep, it's back to Geonosis we go.

One comment to consider (and likely reject, but hopefully not) would be to replace the "pictures on the wall" scene with part of the picnic scene that did seem relevant to me. I liked the beginning part up to where Anakin says (I'm paraphrasing) "Well, then they should be made to agree" ... everything after that line is utter rubbish, but everything leading up through it is actually good character development. Ditching the other forced love scenes for Padme's family scenes and ditching the Yoda/Mace/Obi-Wan hangar scene for the alternate version are the RIGHT editing choices that Lucas should be slapped for deleting. Not to mention so much of the little snips of hammy dialogue you've taken out.

Also, will there be any touch up to the dissolve from Obi-Wan to the shot where Anakin is staring at the sunrise after his nightmare? That one looked a little off to me.

Looking forward to the yellow light saber battle. Don't know if I agree with it, but I'm enjoying the heck out of what you've done regardless, and they'd better give you honors in your film classes.

That's alright...
I did the original Clone War the week the EP II dvd came out...
I've learned a thing or two since then. I can probably pull it off. I just hadn't given any thought to it since then.

The first part of the meadow scene was the one part I wanted to fit in originally, but it disrupted the flow of the film. I'm re-examining fitting it in, in the new version.

MF, Have you found a sure fire easy way of rotoscoping? I've been using photoshop and the instructions they give you on TFN, and it's just taking forever. I'm trying to post-produce the deleted extended dialogue from the Obi-Wan/Vader duel, just to see what it would have looked like and it is taking forever.

Dude, I am SO looking forward to 2.0. BTW, the Yellow saber looked pretty cool even as it was. The fact that it was painted over the red gave it a killer amber glow in the end from the residual light on the halo and the characters.

Would "Die Jedi, Die" work, or is there too much ambient noise to duplicate the first "Die"?

It would be best to take the line out, I think.

If Threepio's processor is in his head, then why in the crap would the droid kill the Jedi? Wouldn't Threepio shoot other droids.
Or, run and cower?

The entire senario is stupid.

Deleted Obi-Wan/Vader dialogue? I've never heard of this before! What is it?

Magnolia: I hope you can concoct a good way of reinserting the political part of the picnic scene, "Well, if it works..." Great stuff. And a question on Dooku's saber, had you always intended it to be a 'flamsaber', like in the early Episode II rumors, or did it just evolve into being an easier special effect than a solid yellow blade?

Everyone I've shown your edits too (myself included of course) is eagerly anticipating the next installment on the MagnoliaFan Saga!

The line is something like this iirc: "You can't win, Darth. [If my blade should find its mark, you will cease to exist. But] I warn you, if you strike me down, I shall become more powerful that you can possibly imagine"

It's on the bonus DVD.

Exactly. I had the audio clip linked in my 'Sound Help' thread, but from the responses no one must have seen it.

Actually, I never read the flame saber rumors in the past...
I always read that Dooku was going to have a curved blade (obviously misinformation based upon truth - it was the hilt that was curved).
When I made the yellow saber, there was a residual red flicker here and there that I couldn't get rid of to save my life. When I looked at it frame by frame, it was gone. Put it into motion and there it was. It kind of made the saber look like a flaming sword.
I read about the flame saber on a posting here later on.
