Has anyone completed or even made an attempt to create a definitive copy of The Alamo roadshow version for DVD? The roadshow version was only available on laserdisc and VHS. The theatrical version was released on DVD. Thanks. I’ve looked through the forumm and unless I’ve missed it, I see no indication that anyone has attempted it.
Not sure if one's floating around. I picked up the LD (along with the LD Producer's Cut of "Hawaii") a while back and was hoping to make a composite between it and the Theatrical DVD sometime before Christmas. But, I seem to be moving every few months and haven't yet had a chance to make a digital capture.

There's definitely interest in both of these roadshow versions. If you don't think you can get to it and you want to trade for something, I can rip and upload them at various places.
I'd love to see this materialize, as I've been after this longer cut, but have absolutely no access to laserdiscs ( or ld players ). No need to bother with composites or fancy menus, I'd be perfectly happy with a simple LD to DVD-9 job...
I'm a fan of fullscreen versions, too ( both open matte AND pan & scan ), so if I lived in the US I'd probably have a laserdisc collection by now...
Not to mention I love watching these older transfers, before digital made live action look like cartoons and made tweaking special effects and colors almost mandatory...
There was going to be a restoration undertaken by Mr Robert Harris unfortunately the studio did not want to do the project.
They are more than happy with the chopped up version.
The laserdisc sells for insane money or i would have seen this cut years ago.

Nah, the range on eBay is consistently between $10 and $25.
I'm currently in an extended-stay motel, but I'll definitely look into making a new LD transfer after I get back to some semblance of normalcy.

I keep hoping to see this edition happen from Criterion. After MGM let them dig into "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World", a restored "The Alamo" didn't seem too impossible.

The Late AC3 pressing is what is super expensive. the other version not so much. But it doesn’t go for 10 to 25 dollars for the Laserdisc.
The only DVD of the Roadshow is a bootleg sadly.

Alamo Roadshow was delicately recreated by Koch in Germany from the origunal Laserdisc Master for a 720p Bluray. The Limited Edition Blu-ray appears to already be out of print. Has anybody been able to locate a BD rip this disc? I have found rips of the regular movie disc, but not the roadshow.
