So...um...anyone working on the DE-SE DVD?

Well, there was much ballyhooing and talk of taking the DVDs and de-SE'ing them. We've now had the things for a few weeks, anyone actually working on it? I only ask because, well, almost everything they did to further enhance the films REAKED to HELL. I mean, the new Jabba stuff was WORSE than the SE Jabba! I NEED a high quality version of these films that haven't been fucked with.

i'm working on it and Mike is doing a more thorough restoration BUT as Jay requested no bootlegs of 2004 D-SE are allowed. So you can follow his progress and mine at our respective web sites then use the information for your own project.

Ah, okay, I wasn't sure if it fell into the realm of bootleging the DVDs as it's a re-edit. Under that same definition, wouldn't the magnoliafan edits also be verbotten? Great to hear you guys have it already under way though! Can you provide your URL?

That looks great!
My only complaint is that you don't hear much of the initial "blast" sound effect. There's nothing KABAM about it.

I would reocmmend plugging in the shots immediatly before and after the change from Laserdisc. But it looks fine as it is if you would rather stick with that. Just my take on it.

I never had the nerve to make the final cut.

yeah I think it does require a tweaking too, I just reviewed the OT disc and took a uncompressed sound clip from there, the duration is about 1.5 seconds so add that to the list for the weekend! i'm trying not to mix the source LD/DVD footage to much because the dvd's I have are PAL and the lasers's are NTSC.

The Kabam/peheeuh sound will be fixed

Are you going to be able to use any of the stuff fom disc 4? It looked like there was some promising restored, UN-Se'd footage in the documentaries. Is there any way we'll be seeing these released at all (torrents, trades, anything?)? Also, are you planning to release it as PAL or NTSC? DVD-5, 2 DVD-5s, DVD-9? Damn, so many questions...SO. MUCH. ANTICIPATION. Really looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.Keep up the good work!.

I watched it now for a second time, and I think that the laser shot may be too quick. You may have to add in an extra second or so. I could be wrong, after all the SE footage I've seen, but it does seem a bit quick.

Agreed, It does seem to cut off the last half second of Han's line. Might be unavoidable however, if you are sourcing from the new DVD.
