Cool thread.

"Deep Rising" and "Superman III"

For a Star Wars connection "RoboCop 2" is another one.

I could keep going but only if provoked.

LOL oh God, mannequim?

By guilty pleasures, you mean, DVDs I own and are considered bad movies? I'd say a Vampire Princess Miyu DVD that I bought thinking it was the OVA series, and it was the horrible TV series. Another one would be Sphere - terrible movie, but I kinda like watching it.

Being an 80's child, one of mine is Short Circuit... if you don't remember the film, you might remember the line, "Johnny 5.. alive!".

Geez, that´s one bad movie bro! Wasn´t the "legendary" Fisher Stevens in those moves, two of them if I remember correctly? I remember seeing those movies as a kid and liking them. Haven´t seen them again since then but imagine they have "dated" pretty much! Haven´t seen them on DVD anywhere here in Iceland though.

My guilty pleasure is definitely the movie "Krull". I know it´s not absolutely "bad", cause it has it´s charm. I saw this as a kid and thought it was somewhat comparable to the Star Wars movies. Similar storyline (hero, princess, dark badguy etc) and plus it had laserblasts and spaceships! What more could a young boy want from his movies? Anyway I have Krull in my DVD collection and pop it in the player more times than one might expect, I´m a total sucker for this movie.

Yes, it's Fisher Stevens... "Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper, too?" in the fake accent. It's still fun for the cheese factor and nostalgia, though...

"Road House" and "Point Break". If you can't see the similarity, well...you might actually have a future.

You should try watching "Point Break" and following it up with "The Fast And The Furious".

They're practically the same film.

Here´s a little trivia from imdb.com on the Short Circuit movie!

"This film was originally conceived as a dark high-tech thriller. Number 5 was originally intended to be the villain of the picture: a heavily-armed military robot that had escaped from the lab that had developed him. After several script revisions, the darker elements were toned down and the film became a high-tech comedy."

- LoL Interesting turn of events there I would say. Instead of a high-tech thriller we get a high-tech cornball comedy!

I just got "The Guyver" thats the film were Mark Hamill turns into a big Bug! and Guyver 2. IMO they are "Dinno-Mite!!"
not too bad at 14.99 each.

and Hotty Brigitte Nielsen! in "Galaxis". Films a bit "Corny" but still cool. Night Courts Richard Moll is the Evil Bad Dude. He was also in another sci-fi B-movie called "Metalstorm ..... Sin ?" but that one not yet out on DVD as far as I know.

I think it's great to see a lot of love for Superman III.

For me that has always been my favourite, I'm a big Richard Pryor fan so the criticisms leveled at comic tone of the movie never bothered me one whit.

"You know a wise man once said, I think it was Atilla the Hun, "It is not enough that I succeed, everyone else must fail.""

When I saw Superman III in 1983 that Braniacesque supercomputer that Gus creates had me freaked when it turned evil.

Then of course we have the incredibly underappreciated Gavin O’Herlihy as Brad, picking up on the football jock and Lana romance plot left dangling from Superman: The Movie.

Office Space and Superman III make for a good double feature.
