Thank you for looking TR47 and responding.....it is appreciated.

Faid -

As your post seems to imply - someone like me, not knowing much better til after I came here but your enthusiasm is appreciated. Then again, who would post such a remark for free (your opinion has been noted). Considering the films in those prints, will not be what we get in September, I made a choice. I'm sorry you don't approve but this is a board of free opinion so have at me if you'd like. Fun is fun afterall. Enjoy the ride and Welcome.

Hey, I'm not mad or judgemental, but I don't like to see people profiting from

1. Doing no work in the authoring.
2. Doing minimal "work" in the burning.
3. Selling bootlegs.

Yea, no one here does that. Those Ebay idiots however, do. The only money you will pay here is for shipping of the disc and/or price of a DVD R, I believe.

Hmm, I find that remark odd. Both TR47 & Rikter sells the OT Set - for few bucks higher even - than the set mentioned a few post back. Is that for DVD-R´s alone shipping included?

One little thing I wanted to do is to chime in about is a few little inaccuracies is the above description of "The Phantom Re-Edit 1.2".
I couldn't really consider it a re-Edit of a re-Edit, as I took no real creative liberties in the edit. The only changes that were made involved two shots that were removed from the dvd version and were thusly not available in dvd quality, and a before/after feature was provided to show how minimal those changes were.
I'm just not sure how I feel about credit being taken away fromt he original editors on this project, as what I did was more of a restoration or a remaster job. That's why I didn't put Magnoliafan on the disc itself.
I don't mind being credited with cleaning it up and restoring it, but credit should be given where it is due to the original editors, as it is their vision preserved on the disc, not my own. I see myself being credited witht he actual edit akin to if THX were to be given credit for creating the original trilogy when they remastered it in the 90s.
I just figured that the "Phantom Re-Edit/TPE1.2" was so hard to find on VHS, and always in such shoddy quality, that I'd take a couple days and go back and clean it up so that everyone could get to see it in a more presentable version.
Also, there was no real title change. The original Phantom Re-Edit was always known as either "The Phantom Re-Edit", "The Phantom Edit 1.2", or "The Phantom Edit New York Version".
I didn't really call it "The Phantom Re-Edit 1.2" to specify that it was different from the "Phantom Edit 1.2", I just lumped both names together to avoid confusion as to what it was.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents on the subject...

Star Wars: The Phantom Re-Edit 1.2 - MagnoliaFan RE-MASTERED Edition
- DVDr versions WERE very hard to find.

DVD Features

- Interactive menus
- "Changes" feature
- Dolby Digital 5.1 mix

This is a Magnoliafan REMASTER of the The original 'Phantom Re-Edit' was always known as either "The Phantom Re-Edit", "The Phantom Edit 1.2", or "The Phantom Edit New York Version".

This is a statement from Magnoliafan -

"I took no real creative liberties in the edit. The only changes that were made involved two shots that were removed from the dvd version and were thusly not available in dvd quality, and a before/after feature was provided to show how minimal those changes were."

AGAIN I want to state MAGNOLIAFAN - Made NO creative changes to this film!

IF the REAL Editor wants to claim credit for the ORIGINAL EDIT 1.2 - Please email me and I will create a new cover that reflects YOUR film - IF ANYONE here has a copy of the original 'Phantom Re-Edit' on VHS or a DVD transfer - PLEASE let me know!!

It looks and feels like Star Wars, from the very beginning...

No longer are the Neimoidians bumbling idiots unknowingly aiding the evil Lord Sidious, they are now more apart of the Phantom Menace than before. The editors[s] have scrambled up their seemingly Chinese moniker with a new garbled alien language that must be subtitled. The effort (which improves as the film goes along) is both believable and convincing.

Jar Jar now speaks in a garbled version of Ahmed Best's voice, with very different subtitles below the widescreen bars. Instead of being his usual stuff you are familiar with, he now takes an active role in the solutions of the movie. Instead of being a casual bystander to the action and direction of the plot, the character now instigates solutions including the alliance between the Naboo people and the Gungans, and mentions how upset the Gungans will be if they disturb their aquatic domain.

This is a far more extensive edit of the original movie, making Jar Jar into a Jedi-like Sage, maturing up all of the Gungans and tons of minor cuts, edits and changes to pacing throughout. Speaking of cuts, the film runs at a fast-paced 118 minutes, so there's been plenty of new deleted scenes though all of the action. Wipe transitions and music has been melted back together so it is hard to tell the difference from how it originally went. There are no new added scenes in the movie, just new cuts, transitions and edits to move the story along a bit faster.

"The Phantom Re-Edit: Episode 1.2" this is actually a FAN REMASTERING of a FAN EDIT! The Original “The Phantom Edit 1.2” has been around subtly since April of 2000 and making the rounds in fan circles on VHS and VCD that were mastered from the original VHS release of The Phantom Menace the quality of these Edits was dubious at best, Enter MagnoliaFan…

MagnoliaFan who has stunned us before with his brilliant re-edits “STAR WARS Episode I: Balance of the Force and Episode II: The Clone War” has now brought us a diligently DVD restored version of “The Phantom Edit 1.2” - the title has been change to “The Phantom Re-Edit 1.2” as not to confuse fans or collectors of these rare Star Wars re-edits. There are still VHS versions of the original still out there, if the opportunity to get one passes your way... Snatch it up.

Sorry but your mistaken -

Since when is $15 for the discs (TR47 3 DVDr + 1 Supplementals DVD My Covers CD) + shipping - eBay prices?

- I know that TR47 charges $25 for the set but DUDE most folks on eBay charge upto $80 for the sets!

take a look on ebay again....

- BUT you have to remember these sellers ARE ONLY ASKING for $1 when the auction starts.

IT'S the Buyers THAT BID and then CHOOSE to pay that insane amount of money. NOT THE SELLERS.

Thanks Rikter,
Just wanted to give credit where credit was due, and avoid potential contraversy later. I know who one of the three people were who made TPRE, if you want to contact him. I'll PM you his email. I also have a 4th or 5th gen vhs of TPRE, as you can see the changes feature on the disc (showing the before and after on the two shots where the footage was unavailable), from if you want to see it.

I've gone ahead and sent the email address your way.
I just wanted to make sure they got credit, as I know I wasn't exactly pleased recently when I found out some hack tried to steal CW, lop off the crawl and change back to the original film from the duel on and pass it off as his own new edit of AotC... and of course couldn't even explain how even the most basic of changes through the rest of the film were made...

I agree with you Rik, it is very reasonable for you to make some profit for your time off the discs. It is also reasonable for TR-47 to make more profit since he is the original author of the transfer. Jetrell Fo got the set about the same as what TR-47 charges, so it was worth it. Have a look at this:

DVD-Rs of the Anamorphic set except with covers.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure about that.

TR47,

Are you the original author of the set you sell? Or were you at least responsible for having the transfer done?

Greedo shoots first? Not in my DVD player.

Yes. And now, my slightly more modest price:

Daniel's Price

I'm doing this as a test, hopefully it will be successful. To hell if eBay bans me for it, I really do not care!

Rikter, I´m not arguing against you. These sets sells for outragous prices on Ebay, yes. Although, a forum member (forgot who it was) did notice an E-bay seller - only one, though - selling this set with "Buy it now" for $23.00. However, this is extremely rare.

I must stress, what you do offer in here Rikter is very remarkable and highly appreciated. The small profit you do get is well deserved.

Good on ya m8.

I have to admire your honesty in your description of where to get the discs etc on your ebay blurb.

Good luck

Thankyou oojason. I've sold 4 now after about 2 and a half hours. Hopefully the Australian market for high-price Star Wars bootlegs will dissipate. This will be a day long remembered, it has seen the end of high-price bootlegs, it will soon see the end of the special edition market.

Heh heh.

Good quote.
"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." - Goering.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." - Goebbels.
