Re-edits

After watching magnolia's re-edits and seeing how dramatically they improved the movie. What other movies (obviously Ep. I is the no-brainer) would you like to see re-editted to make a decent or good movie awesome.

My list...

1.) The Matrix series - I have heard they are releasing a new box set with 50 minutes extra footage for reloaded and since revolutions was shot at the same time with it, these movies could be fixed up to improve what works and what doesn't. Basically there is so much there that is awesome to work with, it could turn out incredible if fixed up.

2. ) Brotherhood of the Wolf - the editing of this is terrible, but again there is so many scenes that your jaw will drop and others that you will fall asleep, the pacing is problematic and some of the aristocratic fluff is just wrong too.

3.) AI - This again had so much that was amazing and Kubrick's vision was a dark one (Shining, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Eyes Wide Shut), but Spielberg made it more like E.T. with feel good-ness mixed in after Kubrick's death (he would've been pissed)...the result is a mixed result movie that sometimes is dark and poignant and sometimes plodding and goofy.

4.) Dune - The theatrical release was a mess and I have heard there are edits out there, but damn there is some compelling story there if it was fixed.

I'll think of more. And I am not talking about total reshoots, just working with the exisiting film and deleted scenes. BTW there is a fight scene taken out of brotherhood of the wolf that is sick and I have no idea why.

Yeah that's a significant amount of footage to throw back in, nearly an hour...almost like the extended LOTR.

Honestly, I prefer to just stick with the original Matrix and forget the other two even exist.

Anyone know of any non SW re edits of movies that are better than the originals?

The new footage in Reloaded is apparently gonna be from the enter the matrix game. I hope they edit out that crap dance sequence, keep the morpheus speech but after that cut it all.

Also I dont know how many transformers fans there are here but, I watched the movie recently and someone should edit the soundtrack, the music spoils the Optimus vs Megatron fight, its annoying. But maybe thats part of the charm of TF.

I am kind of suprised no one is listing movies that could've been better with re-editing or commenting on my list. You guys haven't sat through a movie and said Good, but could've been better if...especially after seeing some deleted scenes. I really would love to hear feedback on this. Something, even though provoking.

I like the extended edition and alternate ending on Stigmata much more than the theatrical version. Has anyone seen that ending? Makes much more sense. If you haven't seen it, rent the movie and watch the director's cut. Great stuff.

The Director's cut is available on DVD or are you saying watch the deleted scenes. I loved that movie.

If I recall correctly, the alternate ending is not spliced into the flow of the film. You have to watch it separately. It is a much better ending.

Not so much a movie - though I'd like to send MagnoliaFan last season's Liverpool FC Season Review DVD and for him to edit it in a way so that Liverpool actually won the league - and didn't finish 4th, and I'll get Rikter to do a cover for it too!

movies that can benefit from a re-edits.... hm..... how about wyatt earp and predator 2 and alien 3. Actually alien 3 should just be trashed and made into an entirely different story. Same thing with DareDevil.

3 was pretty terrible. 4 wasn't that great, but still better than 3. I wish they had stopped after Aliens. Speaking of Aliens, McFarlane Toys is releasing another wave of their horror figures and one of them is Hicks (Michael Biehn). I'm so looking forward to that figure coming out.

From time to time, McToys puts out a couple of good figures. Here's the Hicks fig I was talking about...

Couldn't tell you for sure. But it looks like wrists, biceps, shoulders, neck, high thighs (near pelvic area), and maybe ankles. Most of it would be useless though. This looks more statue than anything else. Most McToys are statues anymore.

Re-edit it to the point where it doesn't exist anymore might be a nice start.
