Interesting little tidbit also...
A bootleg video gets passed around the net of the two Biggs scenes in color with original music.
People always claim that it comes from the lost cut of Star Wars.
It's actually just the two scenes from Behind the magic with new music composited together and some from alternate sources and looped in.
I made that tape years ago, before I knew anything about digital editing and such...
I just edited the music on the computer.
I gave it out to a few friends and like the edit, it made its way around.
Funny little fact: I knew so little about digital editing at the time that the title cards for the scenes were made with Mario Paint for the snes...

Oh, and I'm working on an animorphic Pre-Anh since Rikter gave me an Animorphic set, but for the time being, he does have a widescreen, non-animorphic version.

Hey wonton, it's actually Ryan Silva who put the Compendium of Lost Footage together. If you would like to have it in its original form and in its entirety let me know. It's a little dated now and does contain some (now known to be) inaccurate information, but it's still very good and well put together.

Posted this on the magnolia thread too, but it could be the way to get real, quality version of some of the scenes we want...

This is over at the digital bits:

Yeah, we know this is going to get some people's undies in a bunch again... but we can say with some confidence now that when Lucasfilm and Fox release the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD in September, the films ARE going to include new footage. We've confirmed "unofficially" with three separate sources, each in positions to know, that at least SOME new footage is being added to the films, and that more special effects enhancements, tweaks and fixes are being done. We're also told that Lucasfilm MAY include additional deleted scenes for the trilogy on the bonus disc, separate from the material added into the films themselves (rather like they've done with Episodes I & II). We've been told of at least a few changes that have been made, but we're going to wait to confirm them better before we post anything. So, okay... we're now officially intrigued. We'll post more when we can.

Here you go: Compendium of Lost Footage (2.3MB) It's a Microsoft Write document, should open with Word Pad. Double click the rebel sign icons to access the particular sections.

Abuot the famous projected backgrounds movie: all those scenes with projected background were later reshot with blue screen? All of them? Wow, how kubrickian, shooting all those scenes and later reshooting it because the effects didn't look good enough...
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. I ordered a DVD that claims to have several scenes of lost footage from Ep. IV. I should be receiving it in a week (its coming from the UK), I will let you all know if its any good. I am going to forward it on, along with stuff downloaded from T'bonz and the behind the magic CD to Rikter and Magnolia. I hope its something decent.

Thanks bro, I will let you know...I am hopeful this dvd is of better quality than what I have pulled off of the net so far, but it should be interesting nonetheless. Maybe, we'll get some of those scenes remastered with the boxset. Maybe not. Give me a week though, should know.

I took all of the deleted scenes from the Behind the Magic CD and made a DVD out of them. Some scenes came out better than others, but overall it's surprisingly watchable. I'd wager the DVD you're getting was done in a similar fashion.

You are probably right.

I got to say Damn though! That Behind the Magic CD-Rom is unbelievable. I mean Damn. That thing has so much crap on it you could spend weeks looking at it once over. The clips are better than the quicktime ones I saw online. Though the online online had some sound and dialogue fixes. Actually Magnolia told me he was the one that added the music back into the Biggs scene online. Too cool though. I am sending it to Rikter too for perusal.

Wow though. I am impressed and lately I have underwhelmed with GL.

4 good scenes on that disc of lost footage from Ep IV.

You might want to forward that on to Rikter he is the collector of all things Star wars and may be able to make a best version of what you and I have.

Again hopefully they will be remastered for the Trilogy release on DVD on 9/21 and its all a moot point.

Guys,

How did you manage to rip the deleted scenes footage from Behind the Magic CD-ROM? I have been trying to find out how to do this for years?!

Not sure how they did that, may have ripped it as capture or pulled the video file of the disc.

As far as the vhs back in the day with music, I ran a tv out from my computer and ran it to vhs, with the synched up music track overlayed from a burned cd at the same time.
It was primitive, but it did the trick.

FYI, the music on biggs scene 1 is from Shadows of the Empire.
The music for the second scene was edited together from many scenes in ANH, until it synched.

Thanks for the info MagnoliaFan. I guessed you might have gone for the TV out option. As far as I know, nobody has ever mentioned how they managed to rip the video files from that one big file found on the disc.
