That is a poll about the Star Wars DVDs to the general public. This was not on a Star Wars site or anything.

I was surprised to see so many people not going to buy it (general public) because of the changes.

But this is good news I suppose.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

thats great!

i still find that Lucas is definatly going to lose a lot of money that he could have so easily have had in his pocket...
and lets not forget that these people who say they are buying it are only basing their opinions on 1 - not knowing what version of SW it is... and 2 - only what they know of that has been changed...

some people could end up changing their minds if they do indeed change boba fetts voice or some other stupid change...

The more Lucas tighten his grip on the differing versions, the more will slip through and watch the original Theatrical Versions...

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Well, what I like is that when you add them up, regardless of reasons or when they are buying, here are the numbers...

Yes = 17,139 (42.27%)
No = 23,403 (57.73%)

Almost down the middle but with the edge going to the "no"s.

Add my vote to that as well under "Greedo shoots first? Not in my DVD player!"

Love that! Yeah, it's pretty much split down the middle. What will really be interesting is the number of returns from folks who buy it and find out that it isn't the originals. I think Lucas has made a serious error in judgement. Oh well. You reap what you sew as the saying goes.

Even if only half the people who want Star Wars on DVD buy it, it's still enough to break records, Jimbo.

We have no way of knowing how many people didn't buy it because of that. All we know is how many did buy it. So you really can't tell.

I would be willing to bet that their are thousands of people out there who don't even know that Star Wars is coming to DVD yet. Someday they will be in Wal-Mart and will just buy it because they liked them.

And even more will just see them at Wal Mart, see the 99$ price tag, think WTF?, and put it back down.

I imagine a few people will think they have lost their marbles when they see the dvds - prob think 'I'm losing it I swear blind that that didn't happen at the cinema'

Amazon.com has stated this has broken DVD sales records. Amazon.com has infact labled and warned consumers about the lack of original versions in this set on there website but people still buy em.

I hate to say it, but he's right. The box has been a top seller at places like Amazon.com and DVDEmpire.com ever since its announcement and has even been the top seller at both . This Article Reveals the Massive Response to the Opening of Pre-Orders

No figures are given, but many people have indeed ordered this set and intend to buy it. That also doesn't consider the general public who will pick it up when they see it in stores (and some who will be swayed to the dark side upon seeing the gleaming silver box, restored footage, etc.)

It's nice to see that the discontent does exist outside of this petition though.

its not so much that im doubting it... i'll just believe that when i see actual numbers...
people could change there minds... after all we still have 2 months until the release....

word of mouth could spread quickly...

Like I said Amazon.com has warned consumers about the lack of originals on the sales page. People buy them anyway because they don't care or prefer Lucases changes.
