What does that mean about the "letterboxed version only available in slipcase box set"? What is a slipcase box?

No, it's gotta be something different than that. There are two types of standard VHS packaging of individual movies, the sleeves where tapes slide out the bottom and the clamshell packages that most Disney VHS came in. To call this widescreen release special by calling it "slipcase" has gotta mean something else related to how all three films come packaged together and I'm wondering if this is the name used for the flat widescreen box that my Faces edition VHS widescreen THX remasters come in. If not, then there is a release of ANH/ESB/ROTJ that is missed on this list.

Out of interest, does anyone know if many people here on these boards have ALL the releases as posted above?

Well I'm from the Uk so I don't know if it's the same but I have...

And these were the years they were released....approx!!

ANH - 82 pan & scan, - 88 pan & scan, - 91 Letterbox, - 93 (I think, could be 94)Letterbox, 95 - (ISD Box set)

ESB as above apart from 84 instead of 82 obviously

JEDI again as above but 86

All had different covers apart from the 88 release, which was the first time SW was released on VHS for sale.
The 82 of ANH was the Rental as was 84 of ESB and 86 of JEDI. ESB cost me £56 and JEDI cost about £60, which in those days was a shit lot of money..Still is infact....

Oh and of corse the SE versions!!!

I wish I could post you some pictures of the tapes I have, but don't know how to

My copy of the trilogy I believe is the 1992 pan&scan set. It was in a box(the bottom of which is long lost) which featured a bottom part with side flaps detailing the awards the films got. A top part then slipped over it with a message from GL written on it. I don't see that mentioned. The sides say Fox Video, and there is no pic of Vader. Recently, I've been meaning to grab a replacement VHS in widescreen. Which version is the best to hunt down? I hear the Faces set is missing a C-3PO line on the tractor beam.

Is it this one?

If so, I have the same one you are talking about and it is the 1992 release listed above.

That's the cover, but there's no pic of Vader on the side. I have seen used copies with the Vader pic identified as the 1990 release. The 1992 release mentioned up there sounds like its widescreen only. I know my set is 92, its says so in the copyright info.

I think mine is the 1990 set. It sounds closer in scope to it. I'll have to check the copyrights on it. I'm not sure about that Vader head, though. Mine is also P&S, not widescreen.
