Guys, it's now possible the Naboo shot is faked or a reused shot from TPM. Check the comparison on this page.

Over on Millenniumfalcon.com, someone posted a comparison of the old and "new" footage without the Luke/Leia part. It looks like the new Anakin changes size when they cut back, proving either really cheap effects of that its fake. I'm starting to not buy this whole thing. Its possible all the pics are just ripped from a foreign LD and messed with. It shouldn't be that hard to up the saturation and such. All the sites I'm told have it don't work. It's not on Suprnova.org either, and they have just about everything. Any way, heres the comparison

No, it's real. Whether it's a WIP or final edition is up for debate. I've seen even more screencaps that are simply amazing and I d/l a sample scene off IRC that shows Vader and Luke talking on Endor. The saber effect is on par with the PT, so thus the changes.

Well, I've seen the whole thing. I can confirm the following:

Hayden is the ghost
Naboo is in the end celebration
Rancor's matte lines are fixed
Leia's line about her mother NOT changed
Stormtroopers voices NOT changed
Jedi temple is in the Coruscant shot at the end celebration (no Jedi temple in special edition)

Any questions?

ORIGINAL TRILOGY DVD SPY REPORT: The Song Remains The Same

Monday, June 21 2004

MF spy Raith Sienar reports on the new Original Trilogy DVD changes plus Episode I DVD Re-Release alterations.

Episode IV: A New Hope DVD:

* Light Sabers changed for Vader versus Ben Kenobi Death Star duel.
* TractorBeam control now in Aurebesh.
* Han and Greedo scene slightly changed (everyone's seen this).
* Jabba the Hutt redone from Special Edition Jabba.
* Boba Fett still mugs camera.
* Han still steps on tail - "You're a wonderful human being" - still there.
(The scene is an improvement over the SE - however, still not great.)

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

* Emperor replaced with Ian McDiarmid.
Dialogue in this scene has been slightly modified, indicating either that the Emperor knows it was Luke who nuked the Death Star, or that he is Vader's son. Maybe both. Otherwise, dialogue remains in tact. Emperor's theme from Jedi also added into the scene.

Episode VI: Return of the Jedi:

* Hayden Christenson has replaced Sebastian Shaw only in the Force Ghost shot.

* Line about Leia remembering her mother while talking to Luke on the Ewok Village veranda has either been omitted, or modified.

* Naboo has been added to the final planetary celebration montage at the end of the movie. It is a shot very similar to the helicopter shot of Theed in TPM when AATs are moving up the street towards the palace.

Original Trilogy Bonus Materials Extras:

* Episode III teaser trailer.
* Episode III Vader "making of" featurette.
* Easter Egg: Warwick Davis short film of Wickett the Ewok fighting Boba Fett on the Death Star II, shot as a gag during the filming of Return of the Jedi.

Episode I DVD Re-Release:

* Puppet Yoda has been replaced completely by CGI.
16 years I wait and this is what I get???

If I were you all, I would not d/l off of bittorrent. It is very easily monitored by the authorities, and you can imagine they will be all over this once Lucas finds out.

I love it when I am right. I have been saying from the beginning all of these changes. People have said shit like "nothing is official" "These will be the 1997 Special Editions" Now I don't think anyone can deny these changes. I am glad to see the fix in the Racor sequence. So far I love all of these changes except for Haydens heads. At least Shaw is still there when Anakins helmet is removed. Still with awsome improvements like fixed lightsabers, no racor matt lines, better Jabba animation, extended hallway, correct emperor, and Naboo celebration I can very easily forgive one little abomination. I can't wait to own these DVDs.

Well, I'm not sure if that's all that has been changed. But that's all I've really looked at and can confirm right now. I saw some other shots that appeared to be different, but I'd have to check my SE DVD to be sure. I think the Emperor's slugs are gone and the shot of the two lightsabers crossing in front of the Emperor is the same as in the French trailer. Also, the Naboo celebration scene does indeed appear to be a flipped and altered shot from TPM. And I haven't done a side-by-side comparison, but at first glance the credits appear to be the same as the special edition. Directed by Richard Marquand and Hayden is not credited. This, I think, would give credence to the belief that this is a work print.

The overall picture quality looks fantastic, almost unbelievable, even for a compressed avi. I think the official DVDs will blow everyone away. This irritates me all the more that we won't be getting the original versions.

Simple question, are there any credits for the "2004 restoration" or whatever they call it? It would strike me as odd if there were none. Is it agreed that, if this were some huge elaborate hoax, however unlikely, that we all get together to beat the crap out of them? There are now clips up on changed Emperor dialogue in ESB and a new voice for Boba(which sounds positively dreadful). I still say most of this is simple video masking. The contrast is too low, making the colors appear richer. Jimbo, I thought you were dead. It surprising that you've only recently posted. People are going apeshit over this on TF.N and Darth-Jett scares me over there. Costently saying things like "another one under the belt" and "victory". I'm getting the impression that if Lucas were to leak a print with Mark Hamil replaced by another actor, they'd be applauding it as pure genius, and that Hamill had nothing compared to this guy. There's nothing wrong with liking the changes, but to rub it in to a fan of the O-OT then ridicule them is downright childish and reminds me why I'm here. Yet it continues, with O-OT supporters being labeled "Lucas hating whiners" and SE supporters being jerks that act like because they "support Lucas" and party with every change they must be the only "True Fans". The door swings both ways, and there's no such thing as a "true fan". There may be different levels of devotion, but accepting the change make you no more of a fan than rejecting them makes you any less. Lucas has literally driven a wedge between the fandom, one not easily repaired.

a new voice for Boba

McDiarmid(?) as the Emperor

Ive been on vacation for the past few days. I came home to find out about this title announcement and more info on the DVD changes. I am not puting it in the face of people we aren't getting the originals. I am rubbing it in with all the people who thought I was foolish to believe in these changes.

okay i finally saw the whole thing of ROTJ and i must say it is absolutly the worst movie ever now... lol
leave it up to Lucas to really mess it up... but oh well im glad he made it worse... i have my OT and hes not getting any of my money... so its a win win situation...

all the changes that Spicoli mentioned are true...
i also noticed (which makes the OT even worse than it already was) that when the Naboo celebration is shown you hear a Gungan yell "weesa free"
LOL!!
oh its so bad...
i would rather have root canal than watch these bastardized versions...

i really do pitty those who are gonna fork out the $50 for the set...

thats my .02 cents on the leaked version...
if your gonna download it.. i would almost suggest not... its really a waste of time...

Im getting them for only $35. Anyone who can deny them the Star Wars trilogy on DVD because of Haydens head is nuts. These DVDs will look and sound excellent. Have the best effects. In my opinion I pitty those who are boycotting this great set. This is the Star Wars trilogy on DVD. Its something Ive wanted since having heard of the DVD format.
