LOL!!
those clips are so fake....

go listen to Lucas' voice in an interview and then listen to the dipshit talking in these commentaries...

the voices are not even near similar...

Did anyone get a chance to see the trailer for the sw trilogy on dvd on starwars.com hyperspace?

The commentaries on the clips are fake (although I think the clips themselves are real). Whoever's doing the Lucas impression did a really good job (they did fool me at first) but it doesn't sound exactly like him.

Luke30... saw it. Pretty well done trailer, I will admit. They avoid showing any of the new scenes although I did notice one that I don't seem to recall. From when Han is chasing the Stormtroopers in the Death Star in ANH, he runs into an entire phalanx of them and it shows them all. Many of them standing rank and file in the background. Was this an SE scene or is it new?

Also, for those wondering about sound, the trailer announces that "for the first time" it will be available in 5.1 Surround EX. No more details other than that.
"You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia'."

If they were going to make the trailer a Hyperspace exclusive, they could've at least inserted glimpses of the added footage. What's bothering me about their marketing for this set is that Lucasfilm has yet to come out and publicly announce what they're changing...of course, that plays right into their hands about misleading the customer for a profit.

Never claims them as original versions therefore is not misleading.

The advertising also doesn't say that they aren't the originals. For those of us who have kept up-to-date on the DVD release, we all know what versions are being released, but still the general public won't have a clue. At least the 1997 Special Editions were clearly labeled as Special Editions; these are just being referred to as 'The Star Wars Trilogy.' Anyway, someone on this site provided a link to a site that got ahold of the trailer somehow, and I downloaded it and watched it. It is fairly misleading...nothing mentioned about changes or anything. They're relying on nostalgia and digital transfers to sway buyers. Heck, I'll admit it...it started to sway me, and I just got my original version bootlegs from Rikter yesterday, which are very solid copies, so it had nothing to do about his DVDs.

They don't have to say this isn't something. Thats like a slab of pork needs a label like this isn't to be used as dishwashing detergent. I hope if anyone buys these expecting them to be the originals and is disipointing I hope it teaches them to research a product before they buy it.

jimbo, I believe you overestimate the global society.

Warning Labels
I'd list some, but they are just too stupid, I'm afraid my head might explode if I repeat them.

THat's a bit like saying companies shouldn't have to list the ingredients the put into food products; that it's up to consumers to do research to find out what's in a product before they buy it. If these versions of Star Wars are altered, then it should say so on the packaging. What reason is there not to?

He writes what it is. I am sure on the back or something it will say like something of the changes. It does not need to say it on the front. This is the Star Wars trilogy.

Anyway, the average Jo don't git a shit. They just want the SW DVD.
Only people like us know the difference.
So who need shit on the front of the packaging.

I don't

I have heard that rumor as well. I wish I could verify it, but maybe someone else can. We can hope that there's a press conference on the 22nd, at least.

Lucas is misleading the public by saying its the Star Wars trilogy...
because its clearly the SE with more changes... which means its not even the SE anymore..
so he should use his millions to come up with a new name for it...

Those names are incorrect. These DVDs are not the Ultimate Editions. Those are coming in 2007 for the movies 30th anniversery.

I like it, Luke, and I'm trying to picture it in a Hyperspace-exclusive trailer right now...'First we screwed you over when we charged you $50 a year to see generic behind-the-scenes footage of Episode III, but that's nothing compared the total anal rape your wallet's going to suffer when we give you STAR WARS: THE SUPER-SCREWING-THE-CUSTOMERS EDITION!' It would also probably feature a snippet from a documentary showing footage of fans placing money at the base of a George Lucas/Buddha shrine on Skywalker Ranch, or something like that....
