I've finally got A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back pre-Special Edition torrents from torrentbox.com. I'm trying to download Return of the Jedi right now, but it stopped downloading two days ago and it's at 57.3%.

By the way, people here have said to reseed the file after having downloaded it so others can download it. How exactly do I do that?

Hey guys....I am new but have been reading the OT for a while........I'm not sure if anyone has offered these before but I some really nice sets of the OT on DVD that are Anamorphic Widescreen............I picked up a few sets from a friend of mine and thought I would offer them here. I can post some screen shots if anyone is interested.

I know it's not the best thing to offer stuff for sale on your first post but like I said I have been reading the OT for a while now and feel these DVDs are worth offering!!

Thanks,
Merlin

Well, I just got my DVD Recorder its a Sanyo Model. its not the best but gets the job done.
here are some pics of my dvds. they are from ANH and ROTJ. I did not have time to post some from Empire but its about the same.
They came out good and it was pretty easy just like a VCR just with a DVD+R or +RW. its not 16x9 Anamorphic, but it better than nothing.

Sanyo does a very "dry" & "Dull" Menus.

will the dual layer make any differents in the picture? Less video noise?

looking for HDTV of the  Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.  Also HDTV of The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Dual Layer means you can halve the amount of compression, so effectively the video is much closer to the uncompressed original. You should see less pixel blocking, especially in backgrounds and a considerably better video image, that if well done should be almost impossible to tell from the original laserdisc copy without looking at it a frame at a time, at least on a normal sized TV.

Timeframe for my set will probably be 3 months or more. I only just received my ESB laserdisc today, and soon as I have all 3 I will get stuck into it. (They are hard to find in Australia). We are currently working on the laserdisc player calbrating it and scoping the RGB ouptuts to make sure it is all within spec. It hasn't been used for production for 4 years, so its probably in need of a little TLC.

Which set are you using?

Something to keep in mind: be careful you don't get a dual-layer DVD burner that can only burn DVD+R format discs. For compatibility with most home console players, you should burn DVDs in DVD-R format. I know of a model that is DVD+R only -- pay attention to the specs before you buy one of these suckers.

I'm planning on waiting for one that does dual layered (+) and (-) since I know my DVD Player can handle (-). Unfortunately, the (-) camp is a little behind in getting their dual layer specification to market even though a dual layered (-) Pioneer was demonstrated at CES this year. I believe it was a Pioneer A106 with some special firmware, but I'm not sure.

Also, the current dual layered (+) burner does single layered (-) discs. In addition to that, dual layered media is a pain to find right now and I haven't heard how well these dual layered burners work as far as being compliant and so forth. I'm not knocking dual layer though as that is what I plan to use when I redo my project.

Mine will be NTSC. It's all I have which can be unfortunate. Others I know have both versions.

Good point!

But the Dual layer -R drives is at least 6 months to 1 year away for volume production according to Pioneer.

My Dual layer drive will only burn dual layer +R, but will burn single layer in + or -
As there is no -R dual layer media in existence this makes sense

By the time -R dual layer comes out, I think it will be dead in the water, it is just too long a wait, the proposed burn speed is slower than the current Dual +R models, (Let alone what will be available in 6 months) and you would expect that the media will be in mass production for +R for a long time b4 the -R drive is released, so the media will be cheaper on the + format.
With this much head start, I can't see -R dual layer getting much traction, unless the Dual +R turns out to be really incompatible with players. Every player we have tried (about 9 players including the xbox and momitsu) works with the Dual +R Sony media we have.

There has been no widespread testing of the dual layer formats to see which is more compatible, just because your player will currently play 'only' minus R single layer discs doesn't mean it will play dual layer -R, or that it won't play Dual +R.
I have a player that won't play -R discs of any type, but will happily play +RW so go figure.

Its all speculation, but that's how I reckon it will go.

Does anyone have chapter inserts for the TR47 non-anamorphic versions?

Thanks.

I'll be posting them in a week or two - I just got a new house and I've ben fixing it up for this last few weeks and staying with friends SO I have DIAL UP!!!!

It takes like 1 hour to upload 3-4 MB's!

But once the cable guy gets to my new place in a few weeks I'll be posting some of the covers that I have

OR I may seek donations to get an image hosting site as...

I have about 60 STAR WARS DVD covers! - OVER 300MB of files

I've collected all the covers I've found and made about 30 of them myself.

Great stuff, Rikter

Will look forward to getting my hands on them - nice one.

Hope it goes easy for you doing up your new house, I remember what a pain in the ass it was to do mine - and the amount of money spent on it too

Hey there gang,

TR47 has not respoded to my request for a working copy of Return of the Jedi (guess he don't want me giving them away for $12 vs. his $25 )- ANYWAY - Mine skips around REAL bad on the last 30 minutes of the movie. SO I really REALLY need a working copy of this DVDr -- I also need a copy of the TR47 extras disc to be sure it's not the same as my Anamorphic DVD sets extras disc.

I will give ANYBODY 3 DVDr's from my list in trade for a WORKING copy of the JEDI disc from the TR47 set - we can work out trade details on the extras disc

digitalfreaknyc you down for a trade?

THANKS!
RiK

E-mail me if you want to trade!

These DVD's look awsome!! I'm confused how you've managed to fit the original PCM soundtrack from the laserdisc onto the DVD-r, plus the commentary, plus the film itself without severely compromising the bit rate of the film? Is the soundtrack compressed or a straight copy of the original PCM stream?

Have burnt some DVD-R's from my 'faces' laserdiscs using a stand alone Panasonic DVD recorder, but I think the PC route is probably better as you can correct the colour, and make the black bars truly black. The colour balance on Empire in particular is terrible on my laserdisc.. it looks very washed out, and the digital noise reduction THX used for the hoth sequences looks really bad as well. I will be interested to see how your version looks.

Love all this home-brew Star Wars DVD stuff :-)

Who here actually *has* the torrent files saved on their computer?

Can somebody please upload them to a p2p file sharing system?
It'll gonna take litterally a month to get one film at the rate they're going on my computer!
