lol thats a joke...
send them an email telling them that you have made a note of what they said and will potentially put it into action the day the person can kiss their own ass...

end email and continue with the bootlegs...
theres no possible way they can sue you as long as you say ur making the person backup copies...

If anyone can host them, Ive done some captures of TR47's DVDs vs the Anamorphic versions. Three shots, each from ROTJ.

Echo3 - in your opinion how do the 2 different versions rate?

Are both good solid copies, or is there one that is 'better'?

i just ghot my set in the mail and all i have to say is WOW!

this is a set just like the one i bought - Star Wars DVDs

the set is fan-freakin-tatsic. the transfers of the films are A++ (i already owned a set with the same transfers so i knew i was getting a great set of OT DVDs) but the real treat is the bonus DVD. this thing is the coolest. i definitely brought me back to the old days when i was a kid fiendin for everything and anything star wars.

i'm at work so i don't have the set sitting here with me but here is a quick rundown on what i got through on the bonus dvd

all the trailers (about 13 or so i think, though they are really cheesy!)
interviews with GL (about a half hours worth i would say - it's the GL / leonard maltin interviews)
some crazy behind the scenes stuff from empire strikes back
a little promotional feature thingy that runs about 15 mins
a productrion gallery (this doesnt have much, but it has a few neat pics)
deleted scenes (i think there are three of them, some tatooine stuff and extra footage from the cantina scene(
and the one feature that is my absoulte favorite is the FROM STAR WARS TO JEDI: MAKING OF THE TRILOGY hour lond documentary - i rmember seeing this as a kid (i believe on CBS) and i have always wanted this as a part of my collection. it ios EVERYTHING i remembered it to be.

anyways, sorry for ramblin on, i am just super excited - this basically completed all my dvd needs (unless of course GL gets wise and officially releases the OT on DVD)

later guys - off to work, then to watch the documentary AGIAN!

With all the talk about this set being great and that set being fantastic, I have absolutely no idea which one to go for.

i found that amidst all the confusion with which set to get it's best to bottom line deal with a reputable and fair seller. i admit i was fortunate the first time around when i purchased my OT DVD set i ended up with a great set - that made buying my second set from the same sell that much easier. good luck guys

How do you determine a person's reputability, though? Just their buyer's ratings on eBay?

I compared the two on my Home Theater, on a 46" widescreen hdtv, with 7.1 surround sound. First, the sound. TR47's set has 2 channel PCM, which is exactly how the sound is contained on the LD. The anamorphic set, which is the same as the one offered by DigitalFreakNYC, is Dolby 2.0. This is surely done to save space on the disc, so that more space can be utilized for the anamorphic transfer, menus, and extras. I believe PCM audio winds hands down. The PCM track is louder, bass is stronger. Overall it just sounds cleaner. It sounds 99.9% identical to the LDs to my ear. But it may take a rather high performance system to really show off the difference. On its own, the Dolby 2.0 tracks holds up great. only if you have the PCM track to compare to will the Dolby 2.0 track come up a little short.

On the picture quality, it a tough call to make. Both are very similar. If you have a 4x3 tv, and you dont care about extras, you may want to go for TR47s discs. They are the most "accurate" representation of the definitve LDs. The anamorphic set appears to have less artifacts, but also appears slightly softer. Colors are a little less vibrant on the anamorphic set, but not by much. If you have a widescreen tv, alot of the side-by-side comparisons will depend on how good your tv is at "zooming" on TR47s set. Some tvs cant do it without causing harm to the picture, resulting in added artifacts. Overall, on my tv, I'll take the anamorphic set for movie watching, but thats primarlity because "zooming" on a non-anamorphic tranfer produces artifacting.

The 4th extras disc is identical on both versions. Overall, its hard not to prefer the anamorphic set as a complete set, but a completionist, someone who doesnt care about extras, or someone who does not have a widescreen tv, may prefer TR47s set.

Well, I'm not too concerned with extras so the anamorphic one sounds pretty good and, if I read correctly, that is DigitalFreakNYC's set. But he's not making more copies now, is he? Or was that all a joke and I'm just late getting it? Wouldn't be the first time.

Check out my post on page 13 of this thread. Pages 9 to 14 are peppered with reviews of both sets.

I think both sets are worth having. Each can stand on their own for features and quality. In a nutshell, the TR47 set best represents the films as they appear on The Definitive Collection laserdiscs and the anamorphic set best represents the complete content as a whole of those laserdiscs.

Thanks. I'll go back and check those out. I definitely want to go this route as I have no plans to purchase the September DVD release.

Try contacting the high bidder for the set on eBay and see if he'll do it when he wins the set. I'm assuming this image came from eBay, right?
