Starring Daniel Craig's Bond.

It almost makes me want to buy a Wii just for that.

It looks a lot different from the N64 version, I'm wondering if its not really based on the movie at all, just similar. I mean, Nintendo still owned the rights to the game, but maybe lost the rights to the movie/Brosnan's likeness. Rare is owned my Microsoft now, I'm guessing this is how they are getting around those rights issues.

Perhaps, or perhaps Brosnan is too "old school" and they want to cash in on the new Bond films.

Nooooooooo!

They can't slap Craig's face on this!

Otherwise I hope that it lives up to the greatness of the original. And they should finally include the "All Bonds" mode. Finally a chance to headshot Connery as Moore or to win as Lazenby.

Wii-make...I swear I just got that joke. :-)

I'm also excited for the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS-make, but that doesn't have the same pun to it.

I put in my pre-order for Wii Goldeneye.  I for one am very glad they are not using Snotty Bond's likeness in this one.

I like Craig as the new Bond... but comeon'  GoldenEye is still my favourite Bond movie and Brosnan gets a lot of credit for that.  The tone of the movie/game doesn't really suit Craig's Bond either.

At any rate, I was never a big fan of the N64 GoldenEye because I never played it.  I was into PC shooters at the time and I didn't have an N64 and GoldenEye looked inferior to what I was playing on the PC.  I feel now that I really missed out, so I might want to give it a shot... but I really wish this were coming to XBLA instead.

I remember playing goldeneye N64 infact its the only game i can remember playing which shows how good the others were.......or that it was such a long time ago d im getting old..............

but i dont have it anymore, which i think means at some point i got tired of it and swapped it or sold it or threw it out the window in frustration .....apologies if you are the guy that got hit!

The point is: it was a good game at the time, but is it really gonna seem as good this time around? If anything the Star Wars prequels, GI Joe and other films i cant think of have shown us nostalgic returns arent always what they were the first time round....

You can never go home again, but i guess you can shop there.

As for the question if it would still be good the second time around? Of course! I still whip out my sixty-four and give it a run through from time to time.

I really like the HD versions of games they release for download on places like XBLA. The HD version of Perfect Dark (Goldeneye's spiritual sequel) is fantastic. It is great to go back and play it again looking smooth on a widescreen HDTV. If that was what was coming to the Wii, I'd feel some excitement. As it is, it is just another crappy Bond liscensed game trying to capitalize on the popularity of the one James Bond game that really made it big. The title is the only thing that has everyone all worked up. If it was just another Jame Bond title, it wouldn't even have its own thread here.

While it may be based off of and titled after the same movie as that classic 64 game we know and love, it wasn't the title or the story that made that game great, it was something more than that. And the something more than that, I can almost promise will be lacking from this game.

Whether it is a good game or not, is yet to be seen. But trust me, this isn't our Goldeneye.

I'm just glad something that interests me is coming out for the Wii.

Having never played the old version, I am going into this game with a fresh perspective.  I may be wrong, but from what I see, this game does not follow the "Goldeneye" story plot does it?  There are characters and other elements from other films in the series.  So yes, it does look like they are using the title purely for attracting old school gamers. Is this going to be a true re-make, or more of a follow up plot wise?

It's probably close to the Tomb Raider 1 -> Tomb Raider Anniversary upgrade.  Same story, same settings, maybe a new mission or two, but modern expansion on what was there and maybe a new twist.

There are definitely some elements from the movie/game GoldenEye that they seem to be following. There is the dam and it looked like one of the watch towers from the first game was present.

looks a very promising game for the wii - and we could do with some more quality shooters, however my ageing cynical brain  is preparing me for yet another sub-standard 007 cash-in (and playing Rogue Agent - shudders) on the standard bearer that was Rare's Goldeneye on the N64...

wow... didn't realise it's been 13 years.

Hope the new wii TimeSplitters 4 game turns out well too :)

I'm surprised I had to bump. Did anyone get this?

I'm not a gamer (I think the last game I played was New Super Mario Bros.) and I'm kind of over FPS and even though I never owned the original game or console I played multiplayer a lot on a friends N64. The reviews have been good so I picked it up last week.

I kind of have a man crush on I'm a fan of Daniel Craig so I like that aspect of the game and it would probably be way too complicated to organise to use and pay for the likeness of Brosnan and I also doubt Eon Productions would want to retread old territory especially with the success of Craig. Further to that there's no Sean Bean (which disappoints me most), Robbie Coltrane or Famke Janssen .

I'm still working through single player bit by bit and then need to organise some friends to come over to play 4 player split screen to sniper them in their heads.

I'm liking using the wii-mote as I'm not a fan of the analogue sticks (again not much of a gamer) which is why I don't play many FPS games.

I'm not a fan of FPSs at all, but I'm honestly shocked that Wii hasn't become THE console for FPS with its control scheme.  It's been a couple of years now since I last played Twilight Princess, a game that wasn't even designed for Wii, but I was amazed how much easier and more intuitive it was to aim ranged weapons with the Wiimote than with an analog stick.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I'm not sure I'd be able to handle multiplayer on this game, just because I've grown to love all the maps on the N64 version. It just won't be the same without the Facility level (one-hit-kill slappers only, motherfucker).

That's because the Wii is a kiddy console *Sony/Microsoft fan boy rant* blah blah blah.

But seriously I don't think the Wii has the hardware. Myself from the outside looking in it seems people that play FPS want it for mulitplayer and the Wii doesn't support voice chat and isn't the most online friendly with friend codes and the like, no HD, frame rate issues, no hard drive equals no downloadable content/maps etc.

But I do agree with the Wii-mote as intuitive for FPS and that's why I think it's good for Goldeneye because it's done right. It helps that it's a Wii exclusives so the developer spent the time on it rather than a port.
